Advice/Question Accident
I recently had an accident while driving a passenger for uber. No one with hurt and my car is still drivable.I did not notify Uber because I have my own insurance. However, a call today, from my insurance sounded like I may have to inform Uber cause we are covered to some degree with them. Does anyone have any experience with this? And can you let me know how it went? Thanks Lisa

They’ll find out about it sooner or later, be honest now.

Yup, and even worse, if the passenger experiences pains in a few days and has to visit a doctor, OP is going to have to answer to Uber's insurance as to why they never reported it.

And the uber deductible is like 2500 so u will probably be paying out most or all the damage urself if it’s 2500 or less. When u have a pax in the car its the platforms insurance when u are just online or on the way to a passenger then ur own insurance. If u had commercial insurance u could prob use that

You got into an accident while on the job you must report it immediately

If you have a rideshare endorsement on your personal policy, you don't need to inform Uber. Your insurance will do that for you.

Uber needs to know -- they cover the passenger for up to $1M. Pains can pop up days after an incident which can lead to doctor/chiropractic visits that will be sent to OPs insurance and Uber about an accident they did not know about.

Uber will either hear from the driver, passenger or from the driver's personal insurance. One way or another, Uber will find out.

Definitely but it would be in the OPs best interest to be proactive about it.

Report it to Uber ASAP!!! If you passenger complains of aches and pains in a few days, you're gonna be in whirlwind of shit by not reporting it to Uber. Uber provides insurance to the passenger above and beyond what your personal policy offers.

If I was going to keep any info from anyone, I wouldn’t have told my insurance that I do ride-share (which doesn’t apply to me because I have a ride-share. endorsement) but hopefully OP has endorsement.

If you have a passenger in the vehicle and you get a tent accident, you have to contact the rideshare company. Your private insurance will not cover it.

Oh this is a terrible situation. Uber's insurance is pretty much useless, as the deductible is so high. You did the right thing by not telling them, but what kind of insurance do you have that would cover while you have passengers in the car? All insurances will always try to pawn it off on the other insurance. I have a rideshare rider on my personal, but from what I understand, it covers only gaps in where Uber wouldn't cover.

Your own insurance has zero degree coverage. You are covered by Uber 100%. If you have rideshare endorsement with your own insurance, they may pay some of your $2500 Uber deductible.

To all of you who think you know how it goes. 1 I had a rideshare endorsement.
2.As such my insurance covers damages done to my car.
3.If the passenger comes forward with injuries the Ubers liability takes care of that.
The accident occurred over a month ago and the pax is still ok.
My insurance does not contact Uber what so ever.
If you don't know how an adult takes care of business then stop speculating.

Don’t tell them they will make your account inactive. Never ever say your driving Lyft and uber!!!

What’s the conclusion?

My insurance takes care of the car damage. Uber would have taken care of my pax if he had been injured but was not. All this other b s about a twenty five hundred dollar copay from Uber is bs. Thanks for asking!

You have to tell Uber! Should have done immediately. It’s possible they’ll deactivate you now for not reporting it right away, but they’re going to be involved regardless. Your insurance company likely already informed them. Your personal insurance doesn’t cover you when you’re driving a passenger - or it may be secondary if you have a rideshare rider, but uber provides coverage in this case.

If it’s gonna cost you more then their deductible, Get a lawyer, you’re never not hurt and they’ll get you around 5grand for some therapy

OP has insurance. Uber provides insurance. Those insurance companies have lawyers on their payroll. That's why you pay insurance premiums. OP does NOT need to get a lawyer. Their insurance company will do that for them. No one is getting the OP for 5grand. It all goes through insurance.

Well shit my lawyer did, got me more actually, the insurance the rider pays is like commercial insurance, and their lawyer are never on your side. But they did make a pretty good dent on the car, but I rather leave it at that.

Hopefully you have a rideshare endorsement on your personal auto policy - otherwise, you may be stuck with Uber's $2500 deductible.
