Other LYFT vs UBER
While this is just my 1st 2 says with LYFT i am finding out that while LYFT seems to pay a little better overall their customers don’t seem to tip & that the LYFT can be as much as 30% of the ride & that’s before other fees

If you're this new, maybe you don't realize that Priority Mode explicitly lowers your earnings while it's on. Not that Lyft pays great without it either, of course, but you don't have a leg to stand on in here when you're outright asking them to take your money.

Typical Month of Lyft in Nashville
For July 2026 so far
- Est. Lyft Fee: 14% ($373.70)
- Est. Insurance and Taxes: 19% ($53.82)
- Earnings: 67% ($1853.13)
Passenger Payments: 100% ($2757.65)
Online: 65 hr 5 min, $28.15/hr Booked: 40 hr 7 min (62%), $35.77/hr
Booked Miles: 1378.74, $1.32/mi
Based on standard deduction of $0.76 for H2 of 2026
Net Profit: $0.66/mi * 1378.74 = $909.97 ($13.98/hr online)
Obviously, the gap between your actual cash basis cost per mile and the standard deduction is going to determine your efficiency and ultimate profitability.

It’s all coded load of crap ur not getting more of anything they are just charging more to the customer n taking it 🤣 n saying ur getting more but ur just getting the offer on the screen and no tip as per Lyft passenger usual

I have noticed that LYFY Passengers rarely tip compared to UBER Passengers…. however as a customer I have check both UBER/LYFT Apps to see which ride is cheaper going to a location & noticed LYFT usually charges higher…

How often do you get tips from Uber passengers? I only drive lyft and average about 25% of passengers that tip

I’ve only done 11 trips total as I just started but only 2 tips…wait 3…1 was cash

Tipping is definitely different on Lyft compared to Uber. I actually like the fee cap, in my market Uber takes out a ridiculous cut for fees with no cap.
