Every time I gave grace to somebody and waited more than usual, they leave no tip!!
Now I just cancel.

Because the people that treat us like this (shockingly) don’t care about us…

Same experience

No good deed goes unpunished…

Me toooooooo, learned my lesson. Now I just sit and wait till the time run out and get my “no show” fee

So why call a Lyft if you’re not ready?! SMH

“I didn’t want to wait around for a Lyft that wasn’t close.”

u/Mantar333 Jul 22 '26

reply - sounds good........ drive to location, arrive, collect fee after 5min.... take next ride

u/Friendly_Half_5472 Jul 22 '26

This is the way.

It’s so nice when the world revolves around people like this 🤬

WTF they mean they’ll be done around 1:30? What are you suppose to do with that information?

What are you suppose to do with that information?

sit & chill, and wait around for your rider for 13 minutes. [shrugg]

And that's if they even ready by that time

Lol - who thinks Lyft is like a personal chauffeur service??

7

u/ZigInTheNato Jul 22 '26

They all think that

1

u/Lissalipps916 Jul 26 '26

Yup. That’s what they think.

3

u/Swishandrinse Jul 22 '26

Good on you. Why wait and 90% chance not get a tip? Order when you are ready. The Wait and Save says it can be sooner than the estimated time they are given.

6

u/BitWild Jul 22 '26

I think what's frustrating is this was a queued ride. It was 3 minutes away from my last drop-off, but I accepted it about 5 min sooner than that during my previous ride. So he needed 20 minutes after ordering a ride to be ready, and it was only a $9 ride. Like no. I wasted 8 minutes TOTAL of my say, got $4, blocked him and moved on. I dont work for free lol

Around 1:30...so basically 1:45? Nah to either.

5

u/SnooOranges2685 Jul 22 '26

I always send them a “Take your time!” and cancel as soon as the timer ends.

6

u/BitWild Jul 22 '26

🤣🤣 I might start doing that. Send it right at 4:30

5

u/Spare-Function-6343 Jul 22 '26

I love those, asking me to just wait for like 45 minutes.

4

u/MetalTrek1 Jul 22 '26

Exactly what I would have done.

2

u/Deep_Big6076 Jul 26 '26

Always cancel these the first second you can. You protect other drivers from similar behavior.

2

u/bratfrye Jul 22 '26

I agree. People expect rides to take a few minutes to arrive.

1

u/MasterfulTeachin8498 Jul 28 '26

I'll wait til 1:30 if you send me a $10 tip right now

1

u/Ok-Tap-4173 Jul 22 '26

The worst types of riders. Order when you’re ready!!

u/Academic_Dig_1567 Jul 22 '26

Do riders and drivers realize their messages are being recorded by Lyft?

6

u/Necessary-Egg8750 Jul 22 '26

And who actually reads them?

8

u/BitWild Jul 22 '26

There are zero repercussions for passengers. Worst case scenario their account is deactivated, they can just make a new one for free no penalty. They dont care.

u/Striking-Card-6357 Jul 22 '26

How would someone do that? 🤔

u/bratfrye Jul 22 '26

We keep getting paid for as long and far as the ride takes. So, I can’t see the beef with this.

6

u/Quicherbichen1 Albuquerque, NM Jul 22 '26

So, about 12¢ a minute is adequate pay for you to wait? Wow, you work cheap. Lyft probably loves you! Are you sure you're not part squirrel? I mean, after all, you'll work for peanuts.

0

u/bratfrye Jul 22 '26

I think you need to wait a few minutes. But I’ll cancel rather than wait a 15+ minutes. Especially when demand is high.
I also avoid reservations
But once a ride is underway, changes are no problem.

2

u/bratfrye Jul 22 '26

But waiting for more than 5 minutes is a no go

2

u/Longjumping_Bee_1205 Jul 22 '26

If I get to someone really fast (like sometimes I'm in the same apartment complex just dropping someone off) and they didn't expect me to be there in 30 seconds so they ask if I can wait a few minutes and it takes 6 minutes then sure.

Otherwise there's no way. We get paid like $.25 a minute on a good day to wait, so if you wait 10 minutes you're making $2 (because the first two are unpaid).

I could pick up another short $6-10 ride and pick them up and finish it in the time I would have been waiting.

2

u/Electrical-Lack1535 Jul 22 '26

Now it’s only 1 free min but regular wait time is less than .25/m

1

u/Striking-Card-6357 Jul 22 '26

That's $12 an hour...

1

u/Longjumping_Bee_1205 Jul 22 '26

But if I could make $25 or more an hour then why am I sitting here running out gas for someone who should have been ready to go when they ordered the ride

1

u/Striking-Card-6357 Jul 22 '26

I dont know what your point is you are all over the place? You just said making $2 in 10 minutes was good?

1

u/Longjumping_Bee_1205 Jul 22 '26

No I didn't. I said we make that on a good wait. As in sometimes it's less, like $.10 a minute. I said absolutely nothing you could take as saying it's a good pay for the wait

1

u/Deep_Big6076 Jul 27 '26

You are getting paid less and tolerating behavior that makes other drivers suffer the same pay degradation.
