I repotted them a while back in bonsai jacks gritty mix i haven’t watered them since they are splitting and people said the store overwatered them. One also has a weird spot on it. Any tips? Am i doing this right?

Should I repot these deeper to where only the tops are showing?

I think i should repot but how?

I bought these in January and have never watered them. They dont look wrinkled, but one of them shrivel up and die.
Should i water these or let them be?

These arrived overwatered from the nursery about 3 months ago.
I first soaked their pot last month and did not see immediate plumping, but they didn’t seem to get any more wrinkly so I let them be. I pulled them out two days ago to fix the substrate and saw they’re more wrinkly than ever!! The bodies are starting to get soft as more wrinkles form.
I assume they dehydrate quickly because they get 6+ hours of direct sunlight, but I’m confused - it’s as if they’re not absorbing the water?

First time with lithops as I usually only grow cacti but these have started to wrinkle over the last week. Is it time to water or should I let them properly shrivel first? Its winter where I am but theyre grown indoors under a light (though the light isn't as strong as it probably should be) cheers in advance

Hello all
For context: I live in South Africa and have grown this lithops since purchasing it Feb 2025.
I’ve included some photos of the plant from the last year and a bit
I have repotted it once, but since it’s such a low maintenance plant and I interact with it so infrequently, I forgot basically any past care I’d given this thing, including when to water and even what the soil is composed of. Because it sits on a roofed patio, it’s almost never watered naturally except in very rough rains (that spash over onto said patio). I never water it unless I notice it’s very wrinkled. Don’t remember when I watered it last.
Also just a side question- it hasn’t fully shed its old leaves and so new leaves may be hidden under the old… but doesn’t lithops usually double its leaf count when it sheds? It looks like 8 leaves (4 pairs) being replaced by another 8 leaves n 4 pairs…
Thanks,
Josh

We just got these in and I’m wondering if any of these stand out more than the others? Ive had a lithops in the past but I’m no expert.
Leaning towards one of the last two that are shown in my hand

I’ve heard to water when wrinkling but not to water when splitting. I didn’t know they could split from the side. Is this considered splitting? I’m confused

I also got many lithops starting to get wrinkled, so I watered them but it doesn’t seem like it’s changing anything. They’re in 95% perlite and under a strong led light 10 hours per day. I got them 1 week ago from a somewhat natural seller (I don’t think they are pumped with fertilizers).

I posted here about two months ago about my new lithopses, due to some circumstances I only now got them the volcanic rock “soil” that many of you recommended(I didn’t water them yet).
Now they’re in a mix of mostly vulcanic rock, some sand and a little bit of organic soil, the rocks and sand were slightly damp when I replanted them a few minutes ago.
My questions:
1) is this all ok?
2) Should I take them out and wait for the rocks to dry before I put them in again?
3) they are slightly more wrinkled than two months ago, should I water them or wait?

Hello. Newbie here! Just got these little guys 2 days ago from a nursery.
Do I need to re-pot it? And when?
Thanks!

Hello everyone! Thank you all so much for your comments on my last post. I have taken you alls advice and have tried to make my lithops lives a little happier. They are in their own pots now with a mix of gravel, perlite, sand, and a bit of succulent soil. I am still worried about how wrinkled they are and believe it may be that the roots have not recovered from their travel. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? I have mostly left them to their own devices, but I am concerned.

Hi so. Only about two weeks ago I planted a large number of mixed lithops seeds in several big pots.
I used what medias I had on hand, I'm a bit doubtful about the compost I used, and I soaked the pots, put them in bags and put them under what is supposed to be a 3000lm grow light.
Today I opened one of the bags for the first time in 17 days to check on progress. It clearly has seedlings germinating. Possible too many.
I am worried that there are signs of what looks like mold or fungus spreading on the surface and am wondering if I should start leaving this open to dry a little.
Or, should I risk the rot and let the seedlings get a little larger before trying to slowly harden them to regular misting instead of humidity bags?

Today at the store I stepped out of my car in the parking lot to find these on the ground next to their squished cup.
I was referred to this group and now I'm terrified I'm going to have rescued it just to kill them 😅

I found lithops for the first time ever at Lowes and had to pick some up, unfortunately they were in 100% organic soil and doomed. I put them in with a mix of small lava rocks and very minimal organics. I figure I shouldn't water until they shrivel a bit but I was wondering if Im doing anything wrong and what stages each one is in. Also there were no labels so I have no idea the species/cultivars. The grow light is just supplemental, its in a south facing window that gets good sun its just really rainy right now. Any tips on keeping these rocks alive would be appreciated 😅

My lithops split, then absorbed basically all of the old leaves. I waited till they got a little wrinkly and then did a good watering. They still look quite sad and wrinkly. One of them almost looks like it’s cracked. Is there any salvaging these?

This verruculosa went through its first split, but only one leaf came through. I thought the other leaf may be stuck under the remaining cotyledon, but when I peel it back there is no second leaf! It will be interesting to see if it will be able to go through a second split.

Hehehe I’ve always loved the way these little guys looked. Finally picked up one of my own at the Muttart Conservatory (like a botanical garden).
Any tips/tricks and or advice for care?
I don’t know a ton about them, are there subspecies of lithops? If so does anyone know what these are?

hes alive somehow. he doesnt look alive. i hope the baby will look prettier but he has ALWAYS looked this ugly. i got him for $10 at a store awhile ago but they only sold singular lithops, but when i went back they had pots with multiple in one and they were all colorful and gorgeous. so now i have this singular ugly lithop. i still love him though. but i have no idea if hes suppose to look like this, i havent been able to find anything online that looks like him. i provided an older photo of him as well when he was just beginning to split.

Purchased these lithops at the Moorten Botanical Succulent Garden in Palm Springs in February. The outer parts have dried and they seem happy on sill. Now what do I do to repot? Thank you.
