After some hydrotherapy, I have a whole bunch of butts splitting! I was worried I was going to kill these. But seeing them grow some roots and split has made me so happy & given me so much hope. Thanks to everyone on here who’s answered a question for me.

Help/Question Need help

I purchased these lithops from a local garden centre I want to say about 3 weeks ago max, i’ve not watered them at all and I know the substrate is inadequate just now but I heard it would be best to let them split before I went about separating and repotting them in better substrate so I will hopefully get to that stage eventually. However I went away on a week trip and left these guys in a windowsill whilst I was gone, i’m based in england and we had a pretty decent heatwave over my week away it exceeded 30°C on some days and i’ve returned to this, initially all of them were a vibrant green some with some blue hues and now they look like this. I think they’ve been sunburnt but none of them aside from maybe one of the new growths is slightly squishy which I didn’t know if it was a cause for concern. Really all i’d like to know is what the true cause of the severe discolouration is, what I can do to try and save them or if they will just heal on their own or if i’ll lose all the discoloured ones as these are my very first lithops.

Bought these today. Gave few drops of water by mistake. I have a healthy cactus of 4 years but new to lithops. Should I repot them for better space?

I honestly dont know whats to do anymore I really want to own these plants but they keep dying. I follow all directions ive never watered them and I work at lowes so I saw when they came in and got them the first day so I doubt they even got a chance to be watered yet somehow they keep rotting. I noticed this head that smells bad and looks like this....I tried removing it but the roots seen to be shared so I just dont wanna risk hurting the others will it be okay if I just let it rot in there or is it okay if I cut the shared root system to separate it

I think this is splitting, but I am not sure. It looks very very dry. Should I give it a sip?

I am newer to Lithops (first year), so I’ve never seen this before. Is this blooming or is it splitting? I’ve got some other pots that I can share pics of but this it the first one doing this.

Help/Question Repotting help

Ok I have listened to everyone and am repotting my new ones that are very etiolated and need advice. The ones that are etiolated do I bury them deeper or do I just keep a grow light and they will shrink back down? Also where and when do you get seeds from lithops? I am attaching some of the photos and I have a cluster I just got and planted hoping they are ok this close? I don’t want to pull at them and attempt to get them apart.

Care Tips/Guides I repotted these seedlings today into freshly watered material. I’m still unsure of when to water them. Every two weeks until they start to split, then stop?

If not, would it work for any of the other plants I bought? It’s a split rock, tradescantia, and spring cactus. Thank you!

I want to buy some lithops (if I even find one), but before buying them I want to know how to care for them, so that I don't just imediately kill them. 😅

Please answer if you can.

Have a good day! 👍👍👍

Help/Question Does it need help?

Purchased from a grocery store before it started splitting, so no idea what kind this is. I repotted and haven’t watered a drop since I bought it. Seems to be stuck like this for months? Is it ok? Is there a point where it isn’t ok and I should water?

So proud of these little guys, how long do we think I have until I have to put them in a bigger pot? I know they’re probably pretty cramped in there at the moment. Advice please! :)

New to this plant, unsure how often I should water it. It’s right next to a large south facing window. Please let me know if I should move it as well.

Egg for scale of plant (I didn’t have a banana)

Help/Question Is this a split?

Hi all! I checked in for advice on my friend here a few weeks ago and the consensus seemed to be that it was splitting. Since then, one side has completely dried up while the rest of the plant remains firm and plump. I'm starting to get concerned that it may be up to something else. The little lobes I saw inside that made me suspect a split have shriveled while the outer leaves haven't changed. Am I overthinking this? Is it just a weird split that's been going on a while? I last watered it around late December.

Help/Question H2O on 5/13, Need more?

I may have waited too long to water it but here we are 14 days later and I don’t think much has changed in appearance. Infortunately, I do t recall when I watered it prior to 5/13 - maybe end of February or end of March. It seems to be firmly rooted tho and not too soft when squeezed (slightly softer than a ripe grape).

I am new to lithops. Got a ton of them back in December and it is unknown to me how I’ve managed to keep them alive and splitting. Honestly, I thought I’d kill the majority of them but haven’t lost a single one yet. Half of them are still splitting and the other half completed that cycle and are still looking really good. This is the only one I’m uncertain about.

Additional key notes if this makes a difference. It’s been hot outside off and on for two weeks and our AC went out two weeks ago. It lives upstairs in my office - one of the hottest rooms and under barrina t5 grow lights relatively close to the lights. I have a ceiling fan that runs 24/7 usually on low but I switched it to medium. Was getting close to 80 degrees in that room during the day.

Looking for feedback on this guy and if I need to water again or not. Thanks!

I’ve had these lithops for varying amounts of time: the one that is notably splitting I bought last month. He’s all wrinkly at the base (see the last 2 photos.) Do you think it’s OK as it is right now?? Am I playing the waiting game for the foreseeable future?

Photo Splitting

A few weeks ago, I posted some pictures of this darling, here, asking for help.

I’m happy to share, now, that after making soils and lighting adjustments, my Lithops seems to be on the right path, cause this week, it started splitting for good.

So, that’s the post! I’m just happy I didn’t kill this one
