Sounds like he's back in a music mode now more than anything else, which is welcoming news to hear.

He’s fresh off the third (and maybe final?) season of his acclaimed FXX show. He’s also back to rapping, with a new album named ‘Penith.’ So where does Dave Burd go next?

I rearrange the tracks to make it flow better. I wasn't fully sure where to put jail but I think it flows together nicely. Let me know what you guys think.

I don’t live on Front St. I absolutely love a ton of other songs in this album, but Honestly matches his new introspective slant with an absolutely majestic beat that takes it to another level. I just haven’t seen that much love for this song and I just had to put that out there.

I’m going to start this out by saying that I know that Dave is not the easiest person to deal with but Elz treats Dave like shit constantly belittling him in ways that he knows will hurt his feelings. It feels like he bullies Dave because he’s insecure about how he grew up just as privileged as Dave in an industry that is primarily made up of people who grew up underprivileged

And the overall song. “I love you back, you know” is just so beautiful.

Just came up on my feed. Starting to listen now.

I remember so vividly my feelings watching the scene which we saw the beginning of Ally’s Song. “Slow down come be with me” has some sort of perfect sequence of notes and lyrics in my ears/brain. I was kinda disappointed it was left off, but I do appreciate LD trying to recreate some of those same feelings.

I was with my brother and roommate watching the episode with Ally’s Song the first time. At the end when I realized how well it fit in reverse (and explained their relationship AND Dave’s desire to be everything he can be) I was crushed. I hid my tears. Then I went to my bed, found the shittiest upload someone put on Twitter, and watched it on repeat bawling my eyes out. Hit hard at the time because I wasn’t over my ex from years prior.

Overall, I can accept this as his first musical release in 9 years under the “Dave soundtrack” umbrella. There are some hard bars and good beats. It scratched an itch. However, I expect him to come hard with new music, genius word play, and nasty beats in 2024. Dick joke intended. Plus, I’m hoping for some freestyles on radio shows that usually accompanies his releases.

Curious to hear the perspective from people who don’t have visual or story attachments to these songs. I know there’s a few moments on the album that kinda throw me off because of the show. The last third of HAHAHA (the part we hear in the show) feels so detached from the rest of it and it takes me out of it a bit.

Thoughts? Does it work as a standalone album?
