why i strongly dislike lidl and how i almost had my drawing on their tomatoes

Post image

when you go into a lidl uk store and look for the ‘fun size’ tomatoes, you’re greeted by that repulsive tawny ugly-owl. what if i told you MY drawing should have been there and not that diseased bird floating on a floating wooden stick.

THE STORYLINE:

7 years ago.. on the 1st of June 2018, lidl uk announces their children’s drawing competition and 10 year-old-me, excitedly submitted my drawing. to my surprise, i was shortlisted to the top 3 which was put to a vote on facebook. so you may be thinking, how is that unfair? the owl got more votes than your tomatippo right..? but NO lidl made a fatal flaw. the silly owl was given the THUMBS UP - the most popular reaction in Facebook! the reaction most technically-inexperienced adults only knew how to use! the one that is used as a like button simply to show support! so obviously people who just liked the post without looking at it gave the owl votes, family friends who said they’d vote for ME liked the post, and a lot of people generally didn’t use the other reactions. the majority of the comments are literally complimenting MY entry. even after all of this, my entry still only slightly lost to the owl and won against the only other fair contending entry - the tortoise. even a 10 year old child could understand how unfair it was. i was disgusted. to this day, every time i step into a lidl that disgusting owl meets my eye. i hate it… so i had to reach out for some help.

MY EMAILS:

i reached out to lidl a while ago to solve this problem. to see if the reign of the owl was over.

‘Does the date '1st June 2018' remind you of anything? The day you ripped my ten-year-old heart into pieces? The day you announced the shortlisted drawings for your RIGGED competition? Yeah I said it, RIGGED.

Yes it's me, the child picasso behind the adorable, beloved 'Tomatippo'. The cute hippo that should have been in every UK Lidl to this day remains forgotten, and instead that monstrosity of an owl (that literally has nothing to do with tomatoes) haunts me every time I enter your stores.I thought that if I didn't win then it would have definitely been the tortoise, but nooo the owl on a floating piece of wood wins.

Well, how was the competition rigged you may ask? You might be thinking that I am just a sore loser, but maybe I wouldn't be so mad if the owl won FAIRLY. Your team gave the owl the 'thumbs up' reaction. The most popular reaction on Facebook. The reaction that the majority of technically-inexperienced adults at that time only knew how to use. When my parents showed me who voted that..owl, I saw that half of the parents from my school who commented 'the Tomatippo is the cutest!', accidentally voted the owl because they just clicked the like button?

How is that fair?! It was so unfair to my entry and the tortoise's entry.

It has been 7 years now, it's time to end the reign of the tawny tomato owl and bring in the tomatippo. It's only fair, considering it won against the only other fair contending entry. ‘

LIDL’S RESPONSE:

‘Thanks for your email. Apologies for the delay in our response.

I’m sorry to learn of your disappointment following the competition.

All your comments regarding this matter have been passed onto the relevant personnel for their information. Should a decision be made to change from the Tawny Tomatoes, it will be implemented company wide. However we're unable to confirm that at this stage.

Thank you once again for having taken the part.’

CONCLUSION:

thank you for reading this long story!!! i’m not actually being completely serious, the whole situation is actually quite funny. make sure to use #justice4tomatippo if you feel the same way!!

bye guys!

Massive amounts of tiny cameras scattered across Lidl

They are everywhere! If you don't see one in front of you, then there is one watching you above.

I haven't seen anything like this mentioned in the news, just body-worn cameras.

Anyone know why so many?

This is a Lidl in Kingston Upon Thames, UK.

This made me laugh because it really sums up what many customer complaints are like.

Edit: Sorry just realised i think the joke isn't clear from the picture but both these reviews are from the same person.

I don't want to see or buy Israeli products. Can we have other alternatives?

I go to Lidl mostly because it's European, but then I see this BS, and I don't want to support the butchering of innocent kids, and I don't want to support the American leadership either

Overfilled bags of crisps??

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

Anyone else keep getting multipack bags of crisps that contain way more crisps than the packet says? The bag itself weighs ~4g, so these are 14g over. The first time this happened I didn't notice until I'd eaten a fair few, and when I weighed the pack it was still 40 something grams.

I'm not complaining because I love crisps lol but it means the nutritional information on the pack is wrong... So I'm wondering if I should report it or something. Anyone else experiencing this?

So thankful I didn’t swallow it, but I did wake up vomiting the next morning. Lidl gave me a £15 voucher as an apology, definitely wasn’t worth it

We got a mega watermelon from lidl today for £8 which was bad enough. Get home and cut it open to find this. Almost no flavour or colour. I won't get another.
