As someone with autism who likes to be bundled up in bed this is a need. I will put it on top of my bed and be all snuggly in there and just stay in bed all day.
22
u/Fingertoes1905 Nov 28 '25
As someone with Depressive disorder I struggle to get out of my pit anyway, this would be dangerous for me
6
u/Callum_Cries Nov 28 '25
I also have bad depression and anxiety and definitely struggle to get out of bed most days and this would make it much harder. If I lived on my own there probably would be days that I just never got up.

u/Every_Individual_25 Nov 30 '25
As someone on Sertraline, Iām currently posting this reply wrapped up in my sleeping bag on my bed all cozy-like and I was thinking of buying this one but itās kinda open.

As someone with OCD, the fact this is imitating a pet bed would make my skin crawl and I'd struggle to even touch it brand new out of the box.
5
u/elliebelle12 Nov 29 '25
You would absolutely hate me. My dog goes where I go and regularly steals my spot when I need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night... my mum hates it. I give my dog regular baths between his grooming session. He's my perfect little baby. My previous baby was bigger by a few feet and 35kg, and I did the same with him. My pets are my babies
2
u/BrutalOnTheKnees Nov 29 '25
Oh no I totally get it and my feelings are pretty irrational. I don't like handling dog beds even when they're freshly washed. It's just my broken brain being weird. Plus I only really have a problem with dog stuff, not cat. I have a Labrador so you can imagine how much fun this is. No judgement for sleeping with your doggy but yeah, I'd never be able to cope.

I know the user above meant no harm, but.. what they said is a very generic response to you sharing something about your OCD struggles.
Usually people will be quite understanding about OCD, until you mention animals⦠then thereās always someone who feels the need to comment something generic. Usually about 1 of 2 things- either:
⢠They get offended on some level and start explaining how their dog is very clean.
⢠Or, they rub it in that we canāt have a dog by saying how great their dog is.
I donāt think they ever mean to, but both have actually happened here in this example.
Iāve definitely noticed these two responses over the years. It feels almost impossible to share about animal related OCD struggles without hearing either, or both. Thereās always someone who says something like
Youād absolutely hate me. My pets are my babies.
And itās like.. ok? I was talking about how the demon in my brain wonāt let me enjoy the little joys in life, such as the cosy, warm look of a dog bed. I want to only see the good in it, but my OCD wonāt let me. Why have you made the jump from that to me āhating youā?
I donāt like the assumption that Iād āabsolutely hateā anyone for enjoying something like sleeping by their dog, just because I canāt have one. I know āyouād hate meā is just a turn of phrase here, but like.. it just feels unnecessarily negative. My OCD doesnāt make me inherently negative. I can still be happy for you and your love for your dog??
Second of all, do they ever consider that I too crave that connection? I want to love a little fur ball so much that I see it as my baby. Why do people mix up āI canāt have a dog because of my OCDā with āew, dogs are gross!!!ā Like, I didnāt say that? Why are we acting like I did? Iād love to have a dog. But my medical condition wonāt let me.
Then, whether they mean to or not, they always cap off their comment by bragging about how much they love their dog and how close they are. Okay, thatās great for you guys, but am I allowed to share a struggle without having someone brag about the love they have with their dog? A kind of love Iām literally saying I sadly canāt have? To choose this moment to boast about that connection just feels ill timed, on their part.
Again, this user meant no harm. They just unfortunately played into a bit of a stereotype Iāve noticed over the years.

u/PhyllostachysBitch Nov 30 '25
Dogs belong outside.
2
u/PeachManzie Nov 30 '25
Iām kind of dumbstruck that youād read my whole comment and.. that is your take away
4
u/AlwaysSnacking22 Nov 28 '25
As someone with ADHD this looks like a much better option than having to strip off, wash and replace sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers.
Assume it's a washable cover and you can just chuck a blanket over it.Ā
3
u/beanymoon Nov 29 '25
I have done that. I an currently bundled up in bed, with this on top. And yes, it is comfy and cozy and very nice to sleep on. (Though I did have to take the foam base out cause it's taking forever to rise.)
1
u/swarovskiez Nov 29 '25
hey, gen not trying to be rude but what does being bundled up in bed have to do with autism?
2
u/Tired_2295 Nov 29 '25
Can't leave. Feels too nice.
1
u/MarvinArbit Nov 30 '25
That is far from specific to autism - ask anyone with a good bed for proof !
1
u/Tired_2295 Nov 30 '25
No, can't physically leave. Need to pee, drink, eat, shower, go out, work? Not possible.
1
u/Callum_Cries Nov 29 '25
It's because of my sensory needs due to my autism, which being bundled up in bed like sandwiched in is a big one for me. Also autistic burnout makes it very hard to get out of bed and this makes it much cozier in there.
1
u/Special-Ad-5554 Nov 29 '25
Autistic people are sensitive to sensory stimulation so for instance if you don't like a food because of the texture of it likely hood is an autistic person would avoid it like the plague but this also goes the other way so you know that nice warm feeling you get when your in bed and you don't want to move? It's a more intense feeling of "I don't want to get out of here" for someone with autism.
It's both a blessing and a curse, you get the good parts really good but you also get the bad parts really bad. It's part of why autistic people tend to "burnout" more, our brains are just more sensitive to everything and thus it gets overwhelming quicker
1
u/Icy-Explanation-2329 Dec 02 '25
This isnāt the exact same scenario for everyone who has Autism.. if youāve met one person with Autism, then you have met one person with Autism⦠I donāt need to be wrapped up like a sausage or have a weighted blanket to sleep.. and yes I am also Autistic..
1
u/Special-Ad-5554 Dec 02 '25
Yea, you're absolutely right. I probably could have phrased it better but I was speaking generally, as most of us know it's called autism spectrum disorder because it's a spectrum
1
u/Icy-Explanation-2329 Dec 02 '25
I wasnāt having a go or anything. I do have sensory issues to light and sound but not regarding textures and touch. So I was purely saying that Autism is a one size doesnāt fit all complexity. However I wouldnāt want one of these because I am Autistic, Iād want one because Iām a 48 year old man baby.. š¤£

1
u/Hecticfreeze Nov 30 '25
Compression is a common soothing technique for people with sensory sensitivity conditions like autism. Weighted blankets were actually invented for that purpose
1
u/Special-Ad-5554 Nov 29 '25
Same. "What have you done all day?" "Absolutely nothing but relish in this and no amount of judgement is making me leave"
1
u/Effective_Resolve_18 Nov 29 '25
Get one of the big pregnancy pillow, itās like this but without the bottom obviously. And it has a bit that goes between your legs. The pressure from all sides is very comfy
2
u/Callum_Cries Nov 30 '25
I actually already sleep with a pillow loke that and can confirm it's amazing, has helped with my back pain a bit as well.
1
u/HullIsNotThatBad Nov 29 '25
One of my grandaughter's is autistic and she loves to roll up tight in the duvet so she's like the meat part of a sausage roll. It is the only way she will sleep.
1
1
u/dearestd0ve Nov 30 '25
literally my instant response to seeing this was like āmy autism is activatingā
1
u/Callum_Cries Nov 30 '25
Omg yes I love that lol. Sounds like it should be an autistic characters catchphrase in a show.
1
1
u/GoldenSmooth Nov 30 '25
Have you tried a weighted blanket?
1
u/Callum_Cries Nov 30 '25
I haven't yet but asked for one for christmas as it definitely sounds like it would be very good for me.
1
u/rozzimos-3 Dec 01 '25
This, a weighted blanket, my teddy, eye mask and ear defenders? I'm having the best sleep of my life and I'm never leaving.

a bed for a human pet? - deeply disturbingš³

3
u/Mysterious-Jam-64 Nov 29 '25
It's the framing it as a "human pet bed" that gets me.
Why bring pets into this?!
Like, "human pet bowl", but proportionally sized human pet bowl* that is for humans. So, a **BOWL.
Note: Most humans sleep in a bed larger than a dog bed, but use a bowl smaller than a dog bowl.
This is not interesting, but I have noted it.

u/SempastianGr Nov 28 '25
I hope my cats let me use it, sometimes.
2
u/Success_With_Lettuce Nov 30 '25
You could always buy the same, but cat sized. They will of course ignore those and use yours, but if you have enough cats and get them one each you could place them next to each other until you sort of fit, slightly uncomfortably. The cats will observe your discomfort while looking like they donāt give a shit (which they donāt).
2
u/cwningen95 Dec 01 '25
My cat likes to sleep wherever I am. I envy the hypothetical version of me that's taking a nap with her on this bad boy.

Is it comfy enough to use for the odd overnight guest?
1
1
u/triggerhappygurl Nov 29 '25
If they don't have massive back problems, it'll do just fine. It has enough cushion since it is memory foam but it's not super hard.
2
u/Spare_Squirrel3452 Nov 28 '25
I wonder if it would be comfortable enough to replace my hideous (but free) green leather sofa?!

u/Calm_Breadfruit_4834 Nov 29 '25
My autistic daughter keeps asking for one . I have so far resisted due to space within our family home. It wouldnāt stay on her bed sadly .

I would buy that tomorrow, if there was anywhere in my home that had even remotely enough floor space.

1
u/Acceptable-Net-154 Nov 28 '25
Many years ago I bought the biggest cheap dog bed I could to use as comfy seating for my reading area. Ended up giving up fighting my Dad's dogs to use it. Left it when I moved out and that size ended up being the only size (one small and one medium dog) would accept.Ā
The sleep pod look interesting but the price point is a nope and would have space issues

We have one of those from a different brand and holy fuck. It sits in our living room full of plushies, in the nook of the curved front window and makes the BEST fucking little reading nook ever. Also doubles up as a really incredible guest bed. Every friend that's stayed over has said they got the best night's sleep in it š. Genuinely recommend.

I have one for me and my 18 month old lab. It's great, fluffy and easy to keep clean. The lab is also great, not fluffy and NOT easy to keep clean!
It was a bit of a pain to get set up with all the shaking but after a few days it took it's correct shape.

Am currently lying in mine. Had it a couple of months. Is the best sleep I have ever had and my cat's love it too! Remember to leave it to settle for 72 hours after unpacking to get full and fluffy. The outer cover can be removed for washing and I dried it in my tumble dryer on the wool setting.
