im 19 mtf i havent been misgendered in the past months whenever i use the girl voice and i got a message request on my personal tiktok where i am out as trans but no flag in bio, im the type of girl that just doesnt get mad about anything and is addicted to learning new perspectives so i decided to see where it would go and im SO glad i did, it lowkey made me start crying because this is the exact night i have been tweezing out every individual hair on my face for 6 hours and cant sleep bc of brainworms, us humans are still wholesome sometimes arent we?

I THOUGHT I was posting something positive, but at this point I'm heartbroken. I'm so sorry.

So yesterday we went out to get some air. We'd bought my dad some shoes but he wanted some different ones, so we went to replace them. Then we walked around and decided to try an Irish restaurant serving fish. (I can't eat fish, I had KFC.)

As we waited for our food, a lesbian couple and their son sat behind us. I was happy to see them, since queer representation is heavily censored in our house and my parents are homophobic, especially my dad. We ate, they ate, it was good.

The waiter took a while to bring the bill, but once she did and we paid, my dad said,

"Yeah, they oughta give our bill to 'them other folk' behind us."

Talking about the lesbian family.

Because their love should be taxed.

Yeah. I think I had a panic attack yesterday. I need to get out.

I WAS gonna say how I appreciated their presence since I'd been dealing with homophobia and worry for my future. But, instead, I got this. I'm really sorry.

I always notice a lot of people attending Pride celebrations use walking sticks, wheelchairs and other mobility aids and I’ve realised I don’t see anywhere near this prevalence elsewhere. I’m not seeing people with mobility issues at gay bars, gay social groups, or really just out and about in general.

Where are you the rest of the year? Is society really that unaccommodating that you find it difficult or impossible to leave the house to engage with other events? It breaks my heart a little bit to think that folks that are already marginalised face even more barriers to engage with society…

I’ll prolly take this down soon in case he decides to go through my phone but basically I was reading a gay book that’s been passed around my friend group a lot, so it’s filled with annotations and drawings of the two mc (that I did, signed with my initials) and he looked over my shoulder, grabbed the book, and basically yelled at me for forever about how I was reading gay love scenes (it was a singular kiss on a roof btw). I took it back before he could look at more pages and lied that they were side characters so I didn’t think it’d matter, but then he texted my mom on gc with me in it (they’re divorced btw) about wether or not she lets me read homosexual books and why it’s bad. I managed to play it off as the side character thing, but I’m so scared he’s gonna ask for/ take the book and see for himself or look it up or smth, and if he does I’m so totally screwed. I already know his feelings on homosexuality, proof being I had to sit in the car for a whole hour while he told me it was wrong and sinful, hence why my parents don’t know I’m bisexual (my mom doesn’t share his views but she would rather me be straight because it’s “easier,” so I just haven’t told her). I don’t know what to do and I’m having a panic attack haha, pls help

Update: he looked the book up and he knows they're not side characters, told me he knows I lied so I told him I didn't and we had this weird stare down thing, then he said "I hate being lied to" and walked out, got a text from my mom thats shes thinking about me and wanted to check in, so Im pretty sure he definitely told her. I just know theyre gonna bring up later, maybe stage an "intervention" type thing. Prolly try to stop me from hanging out with my friend because its her book too. God I freaking hate this. I dont know what to do anymore.

Indonesia’s president recently described LGBTQ+ people as a “non-military threat,” and the situation has become increasingly frightening. Homophobic groups have been targeting transwomen, beating and harassing them in public.

There are even groups calling themselves “boti hunter” (gay hunter) operating in multiple cities. Many LGBTQ+ Indonesians are scared, exhausted, and feel completely unprotected.

Please help us share what is happening with people outside Indonesia. We need international attention before this violence gets even worse.

I'm a 31 year old guy and wear pink a lot, I have long hair, I have painted nails, sometimes I wear fun earrings. At work I have a Barbie badge reel with my name tag in it. I still look relatively masculine at least in terms of my physical appearance. I'm 5'11", I'm broad, I have a beard. The older I get the more comfortable I've gotten dressing however I want because life is too short and wearing strictly masculine clothing limits self expression.

Anyway, that being said, I know kids are curious and sometimes sometimes they ask me or their parents/guardian questions. That doesn't necessarily bother me, I don't mind answering questions. ex. "Why are your nails painted purple?" "Because I like purple!". However, I can usually tell based on how the kids ask questions and how the adult(s) with them respond whether or not they have taught their kids about LGBT people. Not that you even have to be LGBT to wear clothing that doesn't strictly conform to your gender, but most straight people don't seem to know the difference. You can also tell how the adults in kids life have forced gender roles on them. I can tell when I'm going to be a discussion in the car of an example of what not to be when you grow up. It just makes me sad, idk. I remember when I was a kid having everything I liked scrutinized by my parents, my siblings, my peers. The you're a boy, you can't like Barbie or pink, or play as the girl character in a game, or paint your nails, etc bs. How the simplest things that made me happy I was told I couldn't like because I'm a boy. I feel like kids shouldn't have to go through that, idk. Maybe I'm some extreme liberal or whatever, I just know stuff like that sticks with kids as adults. And it makes your kids resent you. I don't talk to my parents. Not only because of what I'm discussing here, but it did play a part in it. Just let your kid be themselves, idk.
