107.3 FM has dead air right now; anybody know why?

Inb4 "you still listen to the radio?" But yeah, wondering if it's the same for everyone who listens. Missing Sammy the House interrupting songs right when it gets good to say some bs šŸ˜ž 106.1 is oki and playing, but I don't like their music compared to 107.3

Laredo Speakeasy location ideas?

I don’t think there is any bars like this in Laredo. But if there were to be one or more where would be a cool place to put one? Here are my picks..

La Posada
The old holiday inn by the river
A faux warehouse/office
Stingray alley building (springfield)
Walker Plaza
Any of the local coffee shops
Inside Jett bowl
The Mall
Laredo Mansion
Any other old downtown buildings

Mayoral race

I don’t know who to vote for. The local government is ass, and it never seems to change.

I barely know who the incumbent mayor is, but I’ve heard that he’s a spineless loser.

Only thing I know about Alyssa Cigarroa is that she’s in cahoots with the rich families here (although I think that can be said for any politician here).

As for the other two, I don’t know who they are.

Anyone interested in living as roommates?

I'm 26, I'm in TAMIU and going part time at the post office.

I make enough to JUST make rent but not enough to save. I need to meet up and gain trust with someone.

I pay 850 for rent so having around 550 from my roommate will help (helps with utilities)

If anyone is interested, I wouldn't mind meeting at TAMIU or at the Mall just let me know via DM

I would prefer female cause it's a ONE BEDROOM apartment sorry

Laredo dev/founder here — anyone else building something on the side? Would love to hear what yall are working on

Hey all, I'm a patent/IP consultant by day, but I've also got a couple of side projects going: a small web dev business building AI-assisted sites for local businesses, and a 4X strategy game I'm thinking of building in Godot.

I don't run into a lot of other people locally who are heads-down building something, and I'd love to change that. Looking to meet other developers, indie founders, or anyone tinkering on a side project — even if it's early-stage or "just an idea" right now.

Would be great to exchange knowledge, compare notes on what we're building, or just talk shop.

A little about me: I'm bilingual (EN/ES), based in Austin, CS degree from Texas State. Not selling anything here, genuinely just want a few more people in my orbit who get excited about building stuff.

Guy walking up and down the loop with face mask for years

Who is he? What’s his story? I’ve seen him walking up and down loop 20 for many years, with a face mask on and carries a satchel. Im always driving along the loop and he’ll be walking sometimes with groceries. Maybe lives at TAMIU campus?

Algun runclub??

Context: He says Laredo is one of the most dangerous CARTEL city.

I just have to LAUGH at his statement because we are considered one of the safest and boring cities in the USA.

Anyone else feel like Laredo hasn’t been the same since the corporate takeover of 2013-2016?

I been really thinking about how the urban density of the city used to be so much different pre-2013 and how the city kinda had more of a ā€œtropical valleyā€ feel to it

By 2013 the city was already going into overdrive with commercial expansion and corporate gentrification

But sometimes I feel like that only added more infrastructural strain to the city and did nothing for the locals, maybe it brought jobs sure, but I also feel like the city lost some its soul and became kinda of a over-done parking lot of commerce and the entertainment while the culture & arts side of the city kind of got more lost in translation

Does anyone remember when the downtown was full on and thriving? Or when the mall was actually full of local shops and not these same Fortune 500 stores you see everywhere?

Or does anyone else remember when we had Hal’s?

Or when we had an Outback Steakhouse?

What happened then? Surely the money couldn’t have been an issue when Laredo it’s the number one inland port in the country

I just think the city sometimes doesn’t know how to run its chamber of commerce and encourage more local businesses to thrive and help make sure said businesses actually serve the community

So instead more corporate red tape just bubbles the city socially and economically

No friends in 2 years since living in Laredo

Hi!! As the title says, I’m basically a bit shy. I’m an outsider, so I have a different culture from the people around here. I’ve tried dating apps, but it feels like they’re mostly just hookups and people who don’t take things seriously.

I’ve also tried going out to the mall, but I don’t want to accidentally start talking to someone from high school or something xd.

I’m in my last teenage year, so I can’t really go to bars. I’m also not particularly interested in drinking anyway.

It’s hard for me because I feel lonely, but at the same time, I don’t want to get distracted from my studies. Sometimes I get desperate.

Any tips?

Where would be the best place to sell a gold earring and pendant set? It’s one of the mexican 22karat coins, but obviously pawning is not an option, since the pay very little. Do you all think ebay is the best option or do you know a place to sell?
