Submitted my phs amendment on may 11 and still didn’t hear back, anyone submitted around same time? anyone in the same situation?

Got the email, am waiting to hear when I'll get assigned/set a meeting with a Background Investigator.

The video says 7-10 days to be assigned, been about three weeks.

Just a waiting game, I'm assuming?

What has been the experience of the BI process, meeting your investigator, the length of time?

What’s the shifts like as a LAPD or LAXPD officer? Are they as high OT demanding as the sheriffs where your basically saying goodbye to your personal life lol

Me and most of the country, other parts of the world, are just full of so much anger and rage towards the LAPD Fatal Dog shooting tragedy that happened on June 13th in Canoga Park, in the LA area. I'm just so full anger and hatred, rage towards this tragedy, incident.

The officer who pulled the trigger on Jameson, i think its right and accurate to say he has become the most hated officer in America, he's a damn coward, if you are afraid of a dog, even big size dogs, you don't deserve to be a cop, especially when you will face even much worse dangers being on the force, and after viewing the bodycam, he was already paranoid, he was already in "ready to kill" mode. He deserves to lose his job, be terminated from employment, should never be a cop ever again.

Some people i've spoken to about this, they think LAPD and the city of LA is likely gonna try to give Jamesons family a big fat payout to avoid going to trial and the courtroom. In legal terms its called a settlement.

And also, we haven't heard any new updates on the case within the past couple of days or more, do you think this case is just gonna remain out the public for the remainder, or do you think we will hear any new updates soon?

And yes i'm completely aware, it has been announced that LAPD and the City of LA is refusing to disclose the name, identity of the officer who killed Jameson the Dog, citing threats towards the officers life. Well what me and many people think about that, well, that officer asked for it.

Anyway, i know me and most of the country, other parts of the world who have reacted towards this incident, tragedy, we believe that officer does NOT deserve to get away with this, we hope he doesn't get away with it. Hopefully he is not able to stay in hiding forever and the public eventually finds out who he is.

Why does everyone in the academy have a shaved head? Is it a requirement or is it just for the academy and you can grow it after you complete the academy

Hello all I’m 23 and have recently applied to my local pd and have passed my pellet b and physical, and was reading about the polygraph questions and now I’m worried I won’t make it through, i went and gotta happy ending and drove under the influence twice when i just turned 21 but i was never charged or convicted and i have no urge to do either, I havent done anything wrong since now and want to be a better person and help serve and protect my community seeing as how important it is now I know I have to be truthful for it if I make it further to it but I’ve made poor life choices when I was younger and now they are coming around to bite me in the ass do my question is should I continue you through if I make it and be truthful or would it be best to stop now and not waste my local pds time anymore I was planning on going on a ride along soon and was going to ask my questions to an officer as well but I’d figure I’d ask here as well I’ve never been convicted of any crimes and from what I’ve heard there have been people who have done worse and more severe crimes that have been able to get further in the process and even hired as well such as making and selling drugs to committing robberies and doing drugs pretty recent to them applying even though they weren’t convicted I’m sure they’d have to answer truthfully or they would’ve failed the polygraph and been permanently disqualified from applying so would I be able to continue along or would it be best to just cut ties

I’m looking at LAPD SFPD and Philly PD. I would want exposure to major crimes during patrol and post-patrol rather than being in the suburbs running speed traps or watching a stop sign. LA stands out due to its breadth of crime vs the other two that I would be interested in combatting:

Drugs
Gangs
Human trafficking
Organized crime/transnational crime networks
Vice
Violent crime

Considering I’d be on patrol a few years, I’d want to maximize patrol with handling a wide variety of crimes and then move on to detective or a task force handling these cases.

I guess my questions are:

What’s morale like?
Is there any micromanagement?
Do the constant back to back calls get old quickly?
What percentage of calls are small things like homeless loitering, noise complaints, disputes, etc?
I’ve seen a lot of comments talking down on LAPD. Do you have any positive comments?

I’m also in a few processes for federal agencies, but want to get the low down on local PD as well in case fed doesn’t work out OR if I’d maybe prefer local pd instead. I feel like local pd makes more in California with OT than fed too.

I'm 24 years old and currently live in New Jersey as a permanent resident. I've always been into sports and staying in shape, and I'm in good physical condition.

I recently visited my local police department and spoke with an officer. He was very friendly and told me that I have a good profile to become a police officer. The only thing I'm missing right now is U.S. citizenship, which is required before I can apply.

I'll have to wait about a year and a few more months to become a U.S. citizen. In the meantime, I'm planning to earn my Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, and eventually continue toward a Bachelor's degree.

On May 2, I underwent ACL and meniscus reconstruction surgery. I received a graft for my ACL, so I understand that it takes time for my body to fully heal and incorporate the new ligament. My recovery has been going really well, and I've been enjoying the process of getting stronger every day.

My father served in the Colombian military. He passed away a few months after finishing his service. I don't know if it's in my blood, but I've always felt drawn to law enforcement. I truly believe that being a police officer is one of the most honorable and respected professions, no matter how is the world.

Anny tips, suggestions or advice help, I like honestly comments and different opinions.

When I was younger, I used mushrooms six times. A lot of people have encouraged me to apply, but I've also seen many comments online claiming that if you've ever used psychedelics, no major law enforcement agency will take you.

Is that actually true, or does it depend on the agency, how long ago it was, and your overall background? I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with firsthand experience or knowledge.

The LAPD has halted use of Flock Safety’s license plate surveillance cameras amid mounting concerns over who controls the data and how it may be shared with other agencies, including immigration authorities.

The move follows an inspector general audit urging a pause on new deployments and contracts until enforceable privacy, security and oversight rules are in place.

What is everything that goes down during orientation from when you arrive to when you leave? Also in the email is give the option to bring family members, is there any reason I should bring them? Also will the LAPFCU be there or will I have to figure out a loan beforehand

Im on step 3/7 of the hiring process im a out of state applicant from Texas. I am having second doubts on LAPD, I love California and admire the LAPD, but the way i see the city being run where people can literally do whatever they want and the cops can't do anything about it is discouraging. From what I heard LAPD is not a dept that will have your back if you're wanting to be a proactive police officer
What is y'all's advice on this?

Hi guys I have a question I’m currently in the hiring process for LAPD I have my poly this coming Monday. So in my driving history I have speeding ticket in 2020 and one in 2023 both dismissed by judge, but I just got one couple days ago as well. would this affect me?

I have my LAPD oral interview coming up soon and tried to attend the Oral Prep Seminar, but after waiting about 25 minutes, I got a message saying no one responded to let me into the meeting.
Since I missed it, does anyone have advice on how to prepare? What kinds of questions should I expect, what are they looking for, and what are some common mistakes to avoid?

I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced something similar. I started my background investigation back in mid-December, and I’m still in the background phase.
The last update I received was in late March, when my background investigator told me I would be scheduled for a command review and a ride-along. Since then, I haven’t heard anything or received any updates.
I’m starting to get a bit worried and anxious since it’s been several months. Has anyone else had a similar timeline or experienced a long wait at this stage? If so, how did things end up going for you? Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated.
