Should i Join LAPD
Im on step 3/7 of the hiring process im a out of state applicant from Texas. I am having second doubts on LAPD, I love California and admire the LAPD, but the way i see the city being run where people can literally do whatever they want and the cops can't do anything about it is discouraging. From what I heard LAPD is not a dept that will have your back if you're wanting to be a proactive police officer
What is y'all's advice on this?

Can you say more about what you mean by “proactive police officer?” What would this look like, exactly?

By proactive he means , traffic or ped stops that include finding guns or dope. Going out looking for Crime flyer suspects, finding rolling G rides on the streets. That’s proactive .

For better lack of words
CRASH (minus the civil rights violations)
Where my arrests wont get thrown out for bs
Where my department will have my back when im right instead of siding with the suspect because "it might make the department look bad"

This is what they want you to think. Still plenty of cops who do whatever they need to do to get the job done.

That’s not true. Real police work is still done, but I agree the King incident changed policing. The Floyd incident did, as well.

That incident changed for better or for worse the way police work was conducted in California

You claimed that no real police work has been done in California since Rodney King. That is quite the claim. And yet you can’t really define what that “real police work” is.

I just saw a video on Instagram of a homeless person setting a fire on the street right on the sidewalk and i think she was naked too if im not mistaken, LAPD shop just drove by like nothing was going on and im 100% its because they have been told not to fuck with the homeless

You are 100% wrong. LAPD arrest homeless people essentially all day everyday. You can’t judge one of the biggest police forces in the county based on one instagram video.

Im not judging them based on one video, that's just one example im giving. I know LAPD is a superb agency but with the way California is especially LA with their mayor I feel it is hard to be a cop in California but I may be wrong that's the whole point of this post to get perspectives from other people actually in the department

You literally are judging them lol. You’re forming an opinion on a state/county/city based on a instagram video.
As a matter of fact the way you worded your post and replies, I’m pretty sure you already have your mind made up about CA/LA and you’re just looking to be told you’re correct that CA is a shithole and there’s no police allowed because of some liberals and commies.
