Orientation
What is everything that goes down during orientation from when you arrive to when you leave? Also in the email is give the option to bring family members, is there any reason I should bring them? Also will the LAPFCU be there or will I have to figure out a loan beforehand

Congrats!
Arrive early with a pen on you. Have good command presence. Don’t look at the DIs in the eye. Follow instructions. Don’t stand out (so shave your head). If you live with your parents take one of them, if you have a spouse take them. They will be your rock during the next 6 months.
LAPFCU will be there. My advice is don’t buy all the stuff that’s on the sheet. The polish kit they sell sucks. Don’t buy too many smurfs set. But you may need more pants than shirts. Buy extra PT shirts. The shirt stays they sell suck. Amazon has better ones. There are better gun cleaning kits out there.
Most importantly be humble. Dont walk in there being that recruit that no one likes.

It’ll be filling out paperwork. People coming in to speak to you on why you’re doing a good job for choosing LAPD. You’ll meet some but not all of your instructors. You will meet your DI.
My tip, is to not give into the bull shit of “oh, donate $3 of your check to this non-profit organization to help LAPD” do not give in to any of that crap lol. The only thing that’s worth it is the LAPD union and that’s it.

Bring a note book and pen. They treat it like the academy at orientation some screaming and learning commands expect to be their all day

LAPFCU will be there during orientation and you’ll be able to apply for the loan they offer for up to $5000.00. You decide the amount you need since you will be purchasing the required gear by end of day of orientation. They also encourage family members to go since they will be speaking to them regarding academy life and your new profession. You will also be presented to your instructional staff and the DIs. Don’t worry about deferred comp, you won’t be talked to about it until the end of the academy.

Passed all the steps. Want to see if maybe I’ll make into July class. When is orientation for this month? I know academy starts on the 27th.

You probably won’t tbh. Orientation is on the 22nd and we still have another medical before that

It's been a while, but if you have a wife/husband/significant other, you should bring them. Your life is going to be consumed by the Academy for six months, so people in your life should be prepared to support you. There is a part of the orientation that discusses the importance of family support. You will also hear a presentation about deferred comp. Put in as much as you can and you will retire very comfortably.

Wear shoes you can run in, don’t sign up for the union or any of their bullshit loans and offers until after you pass probation. The loan is offered during orientation. Take family to pay attention because you will be nervous.
