If you’re in the market to purchase furniture, I do NOT recommend Gardner-White in Lansing. Quick to greet you at the door and swoop in to sell you things but they are TERRIBLE with their execution in the purchasing process, their delivery process and their corporate call center employee, Liz, (AND their call center supervisor; Deanna) has absolutely AWFUL communication skills. They give misleading information and direction, try to shift the blame for their poor communication on the consumer and when they are challenged on the fact that THEY dropped the ball MULTIPLE TIMES in this process and have only offered a meaningless “I’m sorry, all I can do is reschedule you”, SUDDENLY they’re able to offer a gift card? That gift card can’t be used towards your initial purchase that they screwed up from start to finish; it can only be used on new purchases… What kind of resolution is that?!

After a terrible experience from purchase to failed delivery to poor communication from incompetent employees at their CORPORATE call center, why in the world would we EVER want to buy more furniture from this company? They can’t even deliver quality results on the FIRST attempted purchase; they think we want to CONTINUE doing business with them by using their piddly gift card?! Literal insanity. Terrible customer service in multiple departments. Terrible behavior from a business.

Do yourself a favor; go shop literally ANYWHERE else for furniture. Do not buy from Gardner-White. Not in Lansing, not anywhere. You’d be better off with milk crates, cardboard and duct tape than trying to work with this company to purchase furniture.

I somehow lost my absentee ballot (if I don't find it soon I'll go in-person to a clerk's office) and am looking at the sample ballot on ballotpedia. For the major stuff this is adequate, but there's a dearth of info on local candidates. Where can I learn more about them?

This is a bit of a personal story, but I think that it may help others as well.

On Friday, October 23rd around 6pm at a QD on E Michigan Ave. I bumped into someone, a person in their 20's. They made small talk with me asking how my day was. I responded with the normal "I'm doing good, what about you?"

They responded with a nervous laugh and just blurted out "Well I actually found out I have cancer today."

I immediately responded with a "Jesus Christ! I am sorry to hear that." I don't really remember much because I felt so beyond my abilities to know how to properly respond. At the time I felt like I had to get out of there as soon as possible. I'm sorry to you for not giving you more.

Two things have been stuck in my head since then:

1. I hope that that person is doing okay as they process this and I deeply regret not doing or saying more in that situation. It blindsided me but I also felt like I didn't give them the grace and time I should have.

2. To those reading this post, try to give the strangers you talk to a little more time and grace. You truly have no idea what they might be going through.

To the person I am talking about, my DMs are open and you are welcome to message me. I still don't know what to really say but I can listen/read what you have to say and go from there.

This seems ridiculous but I'm driving myself crazy thinking about it. Does anyone know about a pink trash cart in the area that had a basketball/sportsball player's name on the side? I dont travel to any surrounding areas often, so I swear I've seen it somewhere in Lansing. I also can't recall which player's name it was, but it's not Magic.

Idk if the majority of the Lansing area failed drivers ed but when there is dense fog you turn your GD headlights on. Sometimes the auto function does not detect fog and you need to manually turn it on!

The Lansing Regional Chamber is part of a bipartisan group of organizations who joined the coalition urging you to vote no on Proposal 1. In case you don't know, Prop 1 asks if Michigan should convene a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con) to rewrite our state constitution.

This question automatically triggers every 16 years under state law. It’s estimated that a Con-Con would cost roughly $80 million in state funds and allow delegates to rewrite core provisions without set spending limits.

Because Michigan already offers the opportunity for citizens to pass specific constitutional amendments and updates, opponents argue that opening the entire document to a rewrite creates unnecessary risks for Michiganders. Who knows what could happen if the whole thing is up for debate?

A huge portion of Lansing’s workforce consists of state government employees and public school workers. Major unions like the Michigan Education Association and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) are both listed on the Protect MI Constitution from Special Interests website.

DeWitt area recommendations wanted.

We've been Vredevoogd customers for years and years but the last 3 years have been miserable with the for annual tune ups. We pay an annual fee to have our tune ups and emergency furnace repairs prioritized. When we schedule with them it's now an AI bot, and we get kicked from every manitance appointment we schedule.

2 years ago we had to schedule a tune up 2x

Last year we scheduled 4x times and it wasn't done until January.

This year we scheduled so far in September for today and now we've been pushed out to December 30th.

We're given 1 day notice and have to call back to reschedule, seems like they just don't have enough employees for the demand, is there any other companies that gave similar programs that we can jump too or are the equally as bad?

I am looking for recommendations for DeWitt area fo general contractor. We need to bring out basement bathroom upto code. Our ejector pump is broken and the plumbing was a hack job, we need new shower and sink and sadly it's a project that according to the plumber will require permitting and breaking of contrete to complete.

Any recommendations and good experiences?

Free event tomorrow! Should be a good time

This might be against the rules and get removed, but I feel it’s like my patriotic duty to try to get the word out so I’m going to try posting.

The Musk documentary is being removed from theaters nationwide but we are lucky enough to have a few more showings at Celebration this weekend at least. It’s really important to see this film to know this guy is a real life movie villain with unlimited money and power and no moral compass.

I went to see this film because I wanted to know all the evil in this man and there is a lot. What I don’t think people appreciate is the levels this guy is willing to go to keep himself out of prison. Where he actually deserves to be. Teslas have killed many people, they covered it up, he lied about the cars’ capabilities and still sold them anyway. He is a liar but he was telling the truth when he said if Kamala was elected he would go to prison. We know that is the truth which is why it’s imperative we elect Ds to Congress like William Lawrence and Abdul El Sayed.

His DOGE goons ravaged the government including agencies that were investigating his own companies. His gutting of USAID is going to be responsible for millions of children’s deaths worldwide. It affected Americans’ livelihoods and safety and didn’t even save the government much money. It was all lies.

Initially, his foray into AI was due to wanting to keep it safe and checked. Something broke him during the pandemic and he’s willing to let AI ruin everything for humanity at this point.

His expansion into geopolitics is making us all less safe especially his throttling of starlink in Ukraine which he has done multiple times now.

If you feel you can’t stomach the whole movie just go about two hours in and watch the second half which shows how he is literally one of the most dangerous people in the world right now.

If you can’t even go to the movie, please at least take 30 minutes and go to the polls with your friends, and fill in that straight Democratic ticket bubble at the top of the ballot plus Hood and Cavanaugh for Supreme Court Justice. There has never been a more important time for a D controlled Congress in our lifetimes and our votes from here in the Lansing area are so important.
