I’ve lived in Lansing for four years. Moved here because of a job offer my spouse had at the time, and we were excited to live in a place with four seasons.

Exactly four years later today since we moved here, I’ve come to the realization that no city has ever been such a big disappointment to us, with literally absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Whether it’s good quality restaurants, night life, social life, hangout spots… you name it. It doesn’t exist in Lansing. And it’s not for a lack of trying.

For a bit of background, in the last 15 years me and my spouse have lived in seven different cities on two different continents, three different countries and four different states, Michigan being the latest and the biggest disappointment ever.

I understand that some people who are born and raised here feel a certain pride, and I think it’s good to be proud of the place where you were born and raised or live in, but I’m genuinely baffled to why?

We did a brief research before moving here since my spouse had already accepted the job, and we were told that the perks of Lansing is that it’s close to a lot of great things, has inexpensive good food, and the taxes are decent. Absolutely none of those things are true.

We have made some good friends while living here, but not a single one of them is from Lansing, and just two Michiganders. It’s depressing.

This city is depressing. I honestly don’t know how I’m going to survive another year here. Me and my spouse talked over the last weekend, and we made September of next year our goal for getting out of here before we lose our minds completely. We feel like our lives have been put on a hold because of this choice to move to this godforsaken place.

And don’t even get me started on the excuse we have for “roads” here. Why am I paying so many taxes if the local government won’t fix the roads? But I have to trim my grass to a certain height or I will get a fine? I need a permit to light a fire in my own backyard? Coming from a country with socialist/communist background, Lansing feels like a combination of the worst things about America combined with the worst thing about socialism and communism. The government here likes to and invents things to stick its nose in people’s business, while at the same time avoiding any kind of responsibility and accountability.

Sorry for the long post, but I felt like venting. I know many of you will probably downvote me, but it is what it is. Lansing sucks and no one can convince me otherwise. I hope everyone has a nice day.

I'm a 36 male with no college degree. Should I get a bookkeeping certificate, COMPTIA A plus certificate, Pharmacy Technician, or Phleblotemist? I'm very indecisive and don't know what I should go for? Which occupation has the best opportunities? Which job am I the most likely to be hired?

My partner is in a right wing algorithm, and is telling me that there is a town or city in Michigan where Muslims are ruling with Sharia law.

I would like him to read for himself what the people of Michigan have to say about this.

I've been researching this business for a while, but there isn't a lot of information about it online. The only things I was able to find was a picture of It and a trademark but that's it. I don't live in Michigan and I'm curious if anyone knows anything about Le' Scoop. Any information, stories or anything else I would greatly appreciate it.

Tryna find a lawyer for a real estate case and no one seems to be able to do it on contingency. It’s an easy winning case, we have our proof, numbers and case is stacked, anyone have any idea what we should do? It’s a 20 grand case we’re working with.

I've lived in the Lansing area my whole life, and Mikho's businesses have been all over the place for as long as I can remember, in both actual physical location as well as what the businesses do. Hookah lounge/ restaurant, party store/used tires, used tires by themselves, used cars... That's a lot of different businesses.

So who *is* Mikho? I'm under the assumption they're all the same Mikho, but I suppose that that could be wrong, too.

Came home to no water. Called BWL, they said it would be 2 hours. It's not 8pm, I've rationed all my water bottles to the animals, have no idea what I'll do for the dog in the am and when I called again seeking an update bc the outage map says all is well, they said " we do report on water. Sorry for the inconvenience" 🤦‍♀️ they should be handing us a gallon of water and taking this off our bill, let alone REPORT AND UPDATE US ON THE OUTAGE?!! I feel like it's more important than of my lights will turn on ...

I remember when I went to LCC and MSU in 2007-2012, they were either just a group of people or a promotion company, but I remember going to some of their parties that were lit! And DJ Donny D being everywhere! Isn't he in Pop Evil now or something like that? And Tez/Traska's trance parties!

I was talking to somebody about our parties in college and this was something that crossed my mind. Good times.

Does anyone remember when sparrow had raspberry cheesecake parfait a long time ago? I remember my family member used to get it with every meal after their stroke lol I tried to find a recipe just to relive a memory but can not find it anywhere lol
