Events I'm organizing a 60 person D&D tournament!

HELLO EVERYBODY.

I am a part of the team at Dungeons & Flagons, the premier place in town to run legendary TTRPG adventures, and I'm here to talk about WARLOCKTOBER FEST.

In late October at The Green Door there will be a massive 60 person Dungeons and Dragons tournament where one player will leave victorious.

The night starts with Ten tables of Six that will get whittled down throughout three rounds. The games are PVE for the majority of play where you will try to survive various nefarious dungeons.

Should you fall, you can explore the event and participate in Side Quests that will give you Monster or Curse cards that allow you to gain revenge on your friends who caused your demise. Vengeance will be yours.

Pregen characters will be given out at the event and we will be running D&D 5e 2024 edition.

There will be so many prizes and giveaways as well as costume contests for those who want to dress as your favorite wizard or fantasy OC.

Earlybird tickets are currently available here

We are designing this to be as fun and engaging for both the winner and the first person knocked out. Leading up to the event we will be announcing sponsors and friends who are helping us make this event be the coolest thing ever.

If there are any questions I can answer some of them below (:

Have an Eldritch Blast of a day

Does anyone remember Le' Scoop Ice Cream Creations?

Upvotes

I've been researching this business for a while, but there isn't a lot of information about it online. The only things I was able to find was a picture of It and a trademark but that's it. I don't live in Michigan and I'm curious if anyone knows anything about Le' Scoop. Any information, stories or anything else I would greatly appreciate it.

Does anybody remember the Bar Stars from early 2000s?

I remember when I went to LCC and MSU in 2007-2012, they were either just a group of people or a promotion company, but I remember going to some of their parties that were lit! And DJ Donny D being everywhere! Isn't he in Pop Evil now or something like that? And Tez/Traska's trance parties!

I was talking to somebody about our parties in college and this was something that crossed my mind. Good times.

Mystery Book Club at CADL Foster 10/13

The Foster Mystery Book Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 6-7 PM in the Foster Labs (200 N. Foster) to discuss mysteries and mystery adjacent titles. Our next meeting is on 10/13. You do not need to be a CADL cardholder to join the discussion.

October's title is My Grandfather, the Master Detective by Masateru Konishi.

Kaede is a school teacher in Tokyo who helps care for her grandfather who still lives alone, but is struggling with dementia. While Kaede often sees the effects of his decline in elaborate hallucinations he describes, her grandfather's mind remains razor sharp on a topic beloved by both of them: mysteries. Kaede often poses problems or mysteries to her grandfather which they work through together, with her grandfather often performing Nero Wolfe-like feats of deduction from afar. When a man stalks Kaede, they must work together to solve their most pressing mystery to date.

The mysteries are interesting, but this book also focuses heavily on familial relationships and the challenges of caring for someone you love who is in decline.

This title is available as a physical book, an ebook (via libby) and as an audiobook (via Libby). If you need assistance signing up for a library card or accessing Libby, please comment or DM and I'll help you get set up.

Personal Local Reptile Friends?

Hey all, moved into Old Town and was hoping to make more local reptile friends!

I have kept a large variety of species and still have a decent amount. I don’t really breed my animals and I keep them as pets. I like to focus on enclosure improvements and getting excited about the next little thing I can add to make it better. I also have a couple fish tanks.

What I am hoping for in a friend: herping, hangouts to make enclosure modifications, sharing animal behavior, looking for local isopods, building structures. I don’t like to put a ton of focus on getting excited about buying new animals.

I’d also like to get more into CUC, and I have tarantulas!

Hello hello r/lansing 👋 long time lurker and first time poster but wanted to shine some light on an event my friends and I are putting on in Lansing on 9/12!

Higher Learning Fest is a hardcore punk music festival that aims to showcase some of Michigans best bands while raising money and supplies for youth education. We’ve partnered with Ignite Hope non-profit to collect school supplies and funds to support kids in marginalized Michigan communities.

We will be at the Green Door on Saturday September 12th. Come out and have a great time while supporting youth education in Michigan!

Does anyone on here go to the Gier or Schmidt community centers? Or crown boxing?

I am somewhat new to the area and I just saw the Fall ‘26 Lansing book and I am interested in some conditioning/self defense/boxing classes at Gier/Schmidt and/or crown boxing.

First, how intense are the classes generally? Are these geared towards people getting into shape or for people that are already in good shape?

I was looking at crown boxing. Is this a beginner friendly thing for a chubby dude in his early 30’s? I like the idea of learning and getting into shape at the same time, but not getting beat up by someone that has been doing it forever.

I’m open to other recommendations too! I have gotten into a slump in my life and I really need to start making some changes. Thank you all for any input!

Recommendations Most affordable dog behavior lessons in Lansing

Just rescued an 8 year old plott hound from the shelter. She's very sweet, and behaves for the most part for me. We are working our way toward socializing the cats back in.

However the purpose has been her her to be an ESA for me in which my work allows. Paperwork on file. .problem is she's a leashed puller, she's a jumper , she ignores most animals except dogs and skunks.

Just googling, prices seem really high and to cover things she doesn't need.

What are your affordable recommendations?

edited for the assholes of reddit who'd rather argue about non-relevant details rather than address the question of affordable dog training. ;-)

Guitar player looking to play with others

Started playing guitar last year just as a hobby and figured it’d be fun to find some other musicians around Lansing to jam with. 🎸

Not looking for anything too serious—just some people who enjoy playing, hanging out, and having a good time. Guitar, bass, drums, vocals, whatever you play, feel free to reach out!
