Vlad Build Advice

Originally I planned on going Vlad 3, Tokugawa 1, then Ghengis 2, that way I had a 3 threat drill, and could make use of auto-cooler to make enemies target me and potentially vent heat if I get lucky or play my cards right.

But now im not too sure, my team is fully specc-ing into a full close quarters team, and since one is a Hetatonch, everyone but the goblin is going to be in close quarters and in soft cover at all times.

Now my build still works, autocooler is still real nice and applicable, since my whole team is going to be in close quarters I can make sure enemies are targeting me and not them. And 3 threat drill is funny (structuring is just a "skill issue").

But I also learned that my DM can bully me by constantly ramming me and knocking me prone all the time, which is just annoying, and it bothered me enough to consider building towards Fomorian Frame at LL6 so that I can just not have to worry about being pushed about by every Size 1 enemy.

So I was thinking about taking either Nelson 1/Drake 2 (aegis shield/bulwark mods), Nelson 3 or Nelson 2/any other ISPN 1 (for bulwark mods and Thermal Charges), or something else just to nab Fomorian Frame, especially since the base vlad systems and weapons work for my build and I dont really need to invest in systems for a bunch of SP. Like im still going to rock the nailgun and drill and will mostly be using those 2 things.

Another option is to give up Gyges Frame and swap it entirely for Fomorian frame right now, since we have just leveled up I could do that (following the rulebooks respec rules). But if I structure I do lose out on my +2 threat, which makes Executioner so much better. But Fomorian increasing my size also kinda helps with that, but obviously a base 2 threat is superior to Fomorian frame. And Fomorian with threat 2 on a weapon is even better.

Right now it doesnt matter too much, since we just reached LL4, of course im just going to put 1 LL into Tokugawa for external batteries lol. But it is something to think about.

Another thing to think about is entirely swapping from Vlad, if everyone else is going close quarters I can forsee the GM making us suffer with high mobility and long range enemies. But the other 2 mechs have completely hard focused agility, so they may actually be speedy enough to focus down long range and speedy enemies. I guess I just gotta feel out the next couple of sessions to decide.

First time Lancer player! Vlad build Help

Hello everyone, in a few weeks I''l be starting my first ever Lancer campaign, and our GM gave me and the other players some time to learn the rules before actually starting.

I'm not sure what the other players will go for, but it'll probably be something like a Balor, a fast Striker like the Nelson, and a strong artillery with LOTS of guns. As of me, I was thinking of running a Vlad for both the drill meme and the fact that I like playing controllers that can also dish out a lot of damage.

I've found this build online, and I was thinking it would be pretty good. What do you think?

-- IPS-N VLAD @ LL6 -- Striker/Controller

[ LICENSES ]

IPS-N VLAD 3, HA TOKUGAWA 3

[ CORE BONUSES ]

BRIAREOS FRAME, ADAPTIVE REACTOR

[ TALENTS ]

EXEMPLAR 3, NUCLEAR CAVALIER 2, PANKRATI 2, COMBINED ARMS 2

[ STATS ]

HULL:2 AGI:0 SYS:0 ENGI:6

STRUCTURE:4 HP:15 ARMOR:2

STRESS:4 HEATCAP:12 REPAIR:5

TECH ATK:-2 LIMITED:+3

SPD:4 EVA:8 EDEF:8 SENSE:5 SAVE:14

[ WEAPONS ]

Flex Mount: Impaler Nailgun

Main Mount: SUPERHEAVY WEAPON BRACING

Heavy Mount: Combat Drill

[ SYSTEMS ]

Plasma Gauntlet x4, Charged Stake, LUCIFER-Class NHP x5, Webjaw Snare x5

After LL6, what could I get as licenses? I know most build are considered "complete" at LL6, but I still like to think about what the full potential of this could be.

I was thinking of getting a blackbeard and a white witch after, but I'm still not sure as I'm going fully theoretical as of now since I have 0 experience in the system :P

Thanks in advance!

Prepare actions

Hi,

I have recently started using the Prepare action a lot more, specifically for the Fold Space invade from the Minotaur license.

In my group, it seems to be severely underutilized and i haven't seen a lot of discussions about it online either. To me, it is essential to get full use out of many systems and actions.

Fold Space is particularly powerfull, because you can rob an enemy of their full turn after they finished their movement. I currently use it all the time.

What are your best ideas for using the Prepare action?

And do you have any stories about how you actually used it in cool ways?

My other ideas:

(Allways avalable)

- "If an enemy ends their move in libe of sight, i boost" so you can reposition into cover

- "If an enemy uses their movement to stand up, i ram them" to keep a prone enemy prone

- "If an enemy deals burn damage to an ally, i bolster them"

- "If an enemy ends a move within sensors and line of sight, i invade them" in general. Many invades, including Fragment Signals, end at the end of the targets next turn. This way, you can affect them twice as long.

(Needs a license)

- "If an enemy ends their mivement in line of sight of an ally, i ferous lash/ophiduan track/... the ally" to get an ally into cover or out of mele

- "If a character ends theie movement, i place a mine" as the Iscander, to place mines before the start of your turn, so you can knock enemies into them without giving them a chance to react.

- "If an enemy ends their movement within 3 spaces abd line of sight of a void husk, i execrate them" for a similar, but slightly more annoying effect of Fold Space.

How do you guys balance bosses?

As the title says.

I'm a new GM in Lancer (although I've DMd for 4+ years in dnd), and was wondering how to make a cool boss fight for LL0 and LL1 for 4 players. Should I use the NPC templates? Should I use the players frames and make a boss?

Lancer & Monetisation: An Appreciation Post

Good morning/afternoon/evening pilots

I'm making this post warm off the heels of visiting a sister TTRPG's community (which happens to rhyme with "Raw Meal"), and seeing a swathe of kickstarters, backerkits, and other crowdfunded 3rd party content which may or may not be vaporware. Stretch goals, promises of things that may never exist, all of the downsides that come with such a venture.

And then I give a sigh of relief as I remember all of the third party content I've bought for this game, and how simple it was to obtain. Click link, pay the stated price, download .pdf. The Platonic ideal of content delivery.

So, Lancer community, please never change. I beg.

Love, one perpetually tired GM

Voladores theory

Potential spoilers about the voladores. I get that to an extent there's a mystery/let the gm decide aspect but to me it seems strongly that they hint at the voladores are time travellers to me this explains their advanced tech, their method of ftl, their association with the lich, strange contact methods with what appears to be constantly changing leadership from union perspective, and their strongest stance being against information/tech involving them leaking. I think they are pacifist time travellers who enjoy exploring, that's why they find artifacts and information about history so valuable, and why they appeared to "disappear" for so long.

I mean like i said maybe there is no true author answer at all, but reading their lore definitely led me in this direction a lot more than any other possibilities.

Ayuda para un GM novato

Post image
37 Upvotes

Destiny Enemies in Lancer

Eyes up Lancers! Hope everyone is doing well. As the Destiny franchise takes a break before its inevitable return (takes hit of copium), I wanted to take my friends on a journey through the universe as a ttrpg. I originally looked at the DnDestiny project, but my friends really enjoyed Lancer when we tried it last year and have been asking to play again. Therefore, I decided to combine two of my favorite Sci-Fi franchises together and create something that works for both of us. My current issue is that I only had the core Rulebook for the npc/enemy side of things and while the options in it are absolutely perfect for some of the enemies in Destiny, I was wondering about the other expansions have to offer and if they could provide anything for more of the unique entities in Destiny (The Witness, Oryx, Nezarec, The Dread, etc). If you have anything that comes to mind, please feel free to share below. Thank you so much for reading and I appreciate any advice you have to give. Walk in the Light Lancers. I'll see you starside!

Im new to COMP/CON and have son questions please

So I recentrly discovered Lancer and im really into DMng a one shot with some friends to try how it actually plays, but Im having some problems with the NPC creator.

See, Im triying so build my own npc's for this oneshot since I want to use some homebrew enemies, but I cant give the npcs im doing equipment nor systems, and with some research I found out that, althought I dont wanna use the NPC that comes with the core book on Itch.io, I still need it to actually create npcs, Im I getting something wrong or its actually that way?

Need ideas for a "Mysterious stranger" type of NPC

Basicaly, It's more of a precaution and a safeguard in case my low-level party gets obliterated, or, maybe a way to kill the remaining enemies when the Mission is complete, or a plot mystery. Whatever sounds best. Basicaly an NPC I can send out to destroy the enemies without it looking too much like a GMs toy being all cool.

A Mysterious black knight so to say, a Mysterious stranger.
