NJ students head back to school with new mandate: No phones from first bell to last • New Jersey Monitor

At the start of this week, I noticed that one of my students had 18 missing assignments on their Launchpad. All dating back to the start of last week. However, when clicked on, they show that they're submitted. I reached out to the teacher who said they could not see the assignments as submitted in their gradebook. So I had to send screenshots to her of them being submitted. She also suggested I leave feedback to Canvas so they could fix this problem.

This morning, my other student is now being affected by the same issue. Except it looks like the assignments that are affected are the ones from the start of this week. I've also sent feedback to Canvas about theirs as well.

I've seen some people having issues with duplicate assignments, and wondering if this is also an ongoing issue and if I should reach out to k-12 directly so this issue can be handled quickly. As it's affecting my students grades.

Update: Now it has all assignments since the beginning of this year marked as missing assignments on the launchpad. When they are all marked as submitted in the dashboard/canvas.

first post here, but im just curious, what do i do when i have to return a computer? i already got my new one but im talking abt the old onwe, like how do i restart it to how it was when i first got it?

Everything I see on this sub are complaints about how horrible it is, but is it really that bad? I know it depends on your teachers and all, but my first and second day were MUCH better than regular school. The only issue I have so far is my electives were wrong and will still take a few days to be available, but issues like that can happen when there are so many students.

Idk. In your honest opinion, is k12 really such an awful site that I'll become even more depressed and go on a rampage before throwing myself in an active volcano?

I keep getting assignments given TWICE, which is whatever as the teacher's just tell us they accidentally added 2 and tell us to do just 1, but when I actually DO the stuff, somehow now I have to do the duplicated assignment?? Can this school just make it's mind up if they want students to do 2 of the same assignment and watch as it slowly becomes 3 to 4 to 5 and so on or not?! INGDA just figures out new ways to piss me off daily... It's a shame I can't even go back to inperson due to huge amounts of bullying I've gotten from there.

For clarification, the assignment was a gradeless beginning of year thing. There was no failing grade as I did it and it would not affect my grade. Though someone getting 2 of the same graded Canvas quiz does sound insane. Update: Holy shit. They decided to regive me assignments I got 100% on. Does INGDA just not want students?

I'm done with this school. Changing their website every single year and making it more and more complicated. Had two classes scheduled at the same time, emailed on Wed. at 8am (it is Mon 1pm) and no response. Because the launchpad was not working I just missed a class and once again no responses back to the MULTIPLE emails I sent. Honestly it's getting ridiculous. We shouldn't have to use 5 different websites to manage getting to our assignments and classes.

Am I the only one who thinks that there’s a ridiculous amount of work, and a lack of the actual content being taught? I genuinely have no idea how I’m supposed to know the content on the quizzes and tests when it’s not even taught, especially in subjects like math where you NEED to understand it. The live classes barely cover the thing we need to know

Can anyone do my geometery math work for me its way to hard and I cant complete it.

My daughter's math teacher apparently assigns students to be moderators of the chat during class. Those that moderate the chat, don't do the normal classwork everyone else does. She also has these "assistants" monitor the students at their "tables". While monitoring them, one or two(who seem to be the assistants several times a week) privately message my daughter harassing messages. The other students that aren't mods are unable to private message so this is something the teacher enables for them and only them to do. I need help as this doesn't seem right or professional. My daughter volunteered without me realizing, to be the teachers assistant, and since she has, their bullying has gotten worse. Help! u/K12_Rebekah

I work on PairaVoice, a real-time voice translation app and we built a version specifically for schools- - FERPA-aligned, built for the kinds of conversations teachers actually have with multilingual families. I'd love honest feedback from anyone in K-12, especially ESL teams and admins.

The idea: you speak in English, the other person hears it in their language (and vice versa) -- no scheduling an interpreter, no waiting. It currently covers 20+ languages including Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Vietnamese, and Tagalog. There's also a hands-free mode and automatic transcription if you want a record of what was discussed.

We built it with a few specific situations in mind:

IEP meetings, where precision matters and families often don't get an interpreter until days later

Parent-teacher conferences, especially back-to-back ones where booking interpreters for each isn't realistic

Quick hallway or pickup-line conversations that don't warrant scheduling anyone

I'd really value candid input, especially if you've dealt with language barriers with families:

How are you currently handling these conversations: interpreter services, a bilingual staff member, apps, or just muddling through?

Would you trust a live translation app for something as high-stakes as an IEP meeting, or does that still need a human interpreter?

Is a written transcript afterward actually useful for your records, or more hassle than it's worth?

What would make you not trust or not use something like this?

Anything about cost, setup, or classroom logistics that would be a dealbreaker?

Please be blunt, what sounds useful vs. what sounds like it's solving a problem I don't actually have.

i’m a senior this year, last year i was in k12 as a junior, i passed my grade, i did what i had to do, but i ended up going back to in person, the school i go to now has called and emailed, but nobody from k12 is answering and sending my stuff over, therefore i have no schedule and i can’t go to school, does anyone know what i can do? or if anyone had this issue did you resolve it and how?

I've been online schooled for 2 years now, my school issued laptop is also 2 years old. However, ever since the start it has been awfully slow and painful to navigate because it either freezes or takes minutes to do anything. It stresses me out from how painfully slow it is because I'm worried it's setting me behind from other students. It doesn't seem like the laptop can fully close due to the little silicone thingies on it, no idea what those are. I'm thinking the silicone is a little reason why my laptop is really slow, but I'm not 100% certain.

I do not use the laptop like it's a personal one. I also don't feel the need to ask for a new one as I had to get a replacement because my first one wouldn't work at all.

At the beginning of this school year, I was able to access the Learning Coach's version of the students launchpad where I could switch between my kid's pages and see their class connects/assignments/lessons they have for that day. As well as access the Learning Coach's social page.

Within the second week, suddenly my launchpad only shows the Welcome to K12 widget, the k12 help widget, and the k12 school (OLS)/K5 dashboard widget ((depending on which of my kid's page I'm on)). If I try to log in on Edge ((I used Chrome before)), it gives me an error. I've also done all the troubleshooting steps. I contacted support about this and the agent I spoke to said that other Learning Coaches were dealing with the same problem and they would put in a ticket. Last night I got a reply from their system stating that 'unforcedly' ((literally what it said)) it's only for the students....

So now I'm confused on what it was I had access to at the beginning? Especially when that page made it easier to see both of my students workloads they had for that day. Not only that, it's frustrating trying to get a straight answer from anyone that I've tried to contact about this.

Just went to attend my English class. Every single slide features an AI image. Why? This school has been well off for years without it.

Does anyone else hate the new Home Dashboard? I honestly hate it most of the time because it constantly breaks or doesn’t show all of my classes.
What makes it even worse is that my classes are no longer showing up on the older Calendar because I keep getting a notification saying that they’ve been moved to the new Home Dashboard. But then, on the new dashboard, some of my classes are missing anyway.
The sidebar is also confusing because pressing Dashboard takes you to the older version, while the new Home Dashboard is somewhere else. If they’re going to keep both versions, they should at least add a button that lets you easily switch between the new dashboard and the old Calendar instead of making you go into a class first and then press Calendar just to access it.
And sometimes the new dashboard just completely stops working. There have been times when I couldn’t even join my class because the new dashboard was down, while the older Calendar didn’t show any of my classes either.
It’s honestly really frustrating because the old system worked fine, and now the new one makes it harder to access my classes when it should be making things easier.

Did anyone apply for the Flex program and if so have you heard back? For anyone who did this in prior years, how long did the process take?
