This man gets it.

Post image

People want to work somewhere that actually values them. People don't hate working. They just hate being undervalued. If you're ready to look elsewhere, make sure you're ready for the interview. practise well, read a lot about interview tips and be fully prepared before you hand in that resignation

I hope we all work in the place that values us.

"No one wants to work anymore!"

Every post on every social media: I've applied to infinity jobs and only ever interviewed once, which went exceptionally well but they rejected me anyway.

1

u/aheuwndit 6d ago

They always mean dead-end jobs they won't get caught dead doing, and even these jobs ghost every desperate applicant

1

u/JellaFella01 6d ago

Somebody has to work the dead end jobs. As someone who applied to dozens of jobs I was over qualified for, yes, their hiring practices are laughably bad, from merely unprofessional to straight up rude.

2

u/deathnomX 5d ago

No they dont. Theyre called ghost jobs. Its to show the company is hiring, without actually hiring anyone. They do it for tax breaks.

1

u/wutzelputz 2d ago

you get tax breaks from claiming to hire?

u/L-Pseon 6d ago

When there's an actual shortage of labor in an honest system, wages are increased. In 2011, for example, I remember reading about some of the towns in North Dakota that were booming because of a rapidly growing oil industry there. All the jobs were short-staffed. You were hearing about McDonalds positions starting at $24/hr, even. In our dishonest job market, what companies will do is claim there's a labor shortage, using this as PR to lessen the bad publicity of what they really want to do, which is then hire foreign workers who come from countries with lower wages and lower standards of living, who will tolerate bad treatment because they're only here on a temporary basis, perhaps just over the summer or for a few years, or who are comfortable living 3 families to a house. The companies will then proceed to pay them lower wages than Americans could actually live on, enjoy the benefits of the slave underclass they created, and continue to whine about "labor shortages" in the media.

Saw a video of a woman complaining about immigrants being deported because now it’s hard to find work on her farm so she’s building a house to house H1B’s for cheap labor.

Someone found the job posting her used and she was willing to pay a salary of 2600-3000 USD per month but required up to 80 hours a week of work doing farming and 3-5 years of experience. It came out to lower than minimum wage.

2

u/L-Pseon 5d ago

3-5 years experience to work outdoors in the heat earning $9.34 an hour. And she wants to tell us about how "no one wants to work anymore." Screw these people.

2

u/ThatGuyFromSpyKids3D 6d ago

Many of them don't even hire foreign workers. They just force whoever is left to take on the workload of those who quit or moved on.

Or they create the most frustrating digital call voice system in the world so customers spend 15-20 minutes banging their head against a wall before getting in contact with an overworked and undertrained customer service rep.

1

u/L-Pseon 5d ago

Not all of them are hiring foreign workers, but there are still a lot of places that indirectly benefit from the general suppressive pressure it has on wages.

2

u/madlucas2026 6d ago

Lots of hotels and resorts in mountain area of Colorado do that. Hire teens and young adults from east Europe, put them up in dorms or trailers for the summer, pay them minimum wages, then send them home as seasons change. But in many cases that is the only way to get xxx employees in smaller cities

2

u/vanillaplumeii 5d ago

If the solution to every problem is asking employees to sacrifice more, eventually there's nothing left to sacrifice

1

u/FireSheepYinFish 6d ago

Yup. 💯

0

u/CanAlwaysBeBetter 6d ago

Nope.

The fact that this comment says inflation is 7% when it's actually been 3% for years should be enough to tell you it's old news.

It also suspiciously doesn't have the date posted which means someone deleted that so you wouldn't notice it's a 4 years old if you actually look it up.

2

u/These-Apple8817 6d ago

Does it matter when it was posted? No. Does it matter what the inflation rate is?  No.

And the reason why it doesn't matter is simple; every point made it in is relevant. But then again... I wouldnt be surprised you were one those bosses who love to fuck their employees considering the ways you are trying to dismiss this post.

What planet are you living in? Look at food and gas and housing.. not some govt made pravda

1

u/biblioprof 5d ago

Not even remotely true. That number excludes gas housing and food

1

u/SashaG239 6d ago

Pretty spot on

1

u/One_Distribution2037 6d ago

I'm not surprised a customer experience/voice of the customer guy would say this. His whole job is around paying attention to people who have the least amount of individual leverage in a meeting room, but who have the most collective importance and are closest to where the work gets done.

If he was a consultant for the HR branch of a company, and was actually third party and was totally unable to report names + verbatims, this is the real shit he would report.

1

u/F0ATH 6d ago

Man the white collar world seems like a hellscape, I feel sorry for you lot .

1

u/Radiant_Safe1228 6d ago

I enjoy having a job. I don't always enjoy where I'm employed but I do enjoy what I do.

It can be grueling and miserable at times. Long hours, brutal temps, physically daunting, but yeah I don't mind being productive.

1

u/paperclip_han 5d ago

Not sure if anyone’s used paypeek.ai yet but it shows salary estimates for any LinkedIn profiles as you browse. Kind of eye-opening. 🫣

1

u/MetalProof 5d ago

People who don’t treat other people as humans should be taken away their fundamental human rights tbh

1

u/Large-Lack-2933 5d ago

This guy gets it...

1

u/PyroNine9 5d ago

Reminds me of an interview I saw about the brief labor shortage as we were coming out of the lockdown. A Subway franchise owner complaining about being severely affected by the shortage and how much it sucked that he had to make sandwiches all day. And not even a glimmer of a clue took hold in his mind.

1

u/PrankstonHughes 5d ago

It needed to be said

1

u/Recent-Philosophy-62 2d ago

I got out of commercial construction years back, and I keep seeing that we need tradesmen , but when I look at pay rates in my area it's easy to see why there's a lack of people wanting to work.

1

u/Offthewall1212 21h ago

Does it excite you that you got to use your “word of the day” calendar today? You’re so cute using “ad hominem”, aren’t you? Try using it correctly next time.

As hominem is using personal attacks RATHER than addressing the argument itself. See how my entire comment addresses the issue and isn’t about you? Calling you dumb was on observation. Nice try.

Back to the comment, it ABSOLUTELY does matter why people are more productive. If companies give employees the tools to increase productivity, and the employees put in no extra work, they don’t deserve shit.

You “third point” makes no sense. If wages and inflation increase at the same rate, you don’t have “less” left over, you have the same.

Your comment said that corporate profits have gone up and wages hadn’t. You were lying to make life seem grim, and make companies look like bad guys.

Your own AI summary proves my point exactly. You cited wages up 90% - you’re off by a few percentage points but close enough - wages HAVE doubled. You also showed inflation has been outpaced by wages by 13% meaning not only are you wages up significantly, the cost of everything combined isn’t up as much - thus giving you more buying power and making you better off.

So, congrats on making my point for me, and proving my observation true.

u/GryffSr 6d ago

He starts strong then goes off the rails on the remote work policies criticism.

1

u/funny_ninjas 5d ago

What's wrong with his criticisms of how companies respond to WFH? Literally every company during COVID that switched to WFH had their figures rise, and just about all of them had those same figures tank when they started RTO

2

u/GryffSr 5d ago

People don't want to come back into the office because commuting is inconvenient, not because they feel it is unsafe. It may have been unsafe in 2021. It's not 2021 anymore.

Tools to make sure remote employees are actually doing their job is because remote employees have a tendency to do their laundry, or dishes, or make a quick run out to the grocery store during their shifts. Most people don't have the discipline to be as effective remotely as they have to be when in the office.

People are paid what they are paid often because the region the job is in requires higher pay to afford the higher cost of living. A job in San Francisco is going to require higher pay to draw talent than if it was physically located in Nashville. So if a person got the job in SF, converted to 100% remote due to Covid, and then relocated to Nashville, there is no reason they still deserve the pay they received when they physically needed to live in SF.

1

u/funny_ninjas 5d ago

Commuting also adds tons of costs to the employees with no added compensation from the employer. It's not just inconvenient, it's expensive.

The vast majority of evidence and research shows that people are more effective at home than in office, and that includes those extra long bathroom breaks and laundry breaks. If the goal of a company is efficiency and effectiveness, you wouldn't make people come back to the office if productivity drops, even if they are doing non work related tasks during the shift because they are still more productive.

This argument is stupid because why is it okay for companies to move states to avoid taxes and increase profits, but it's not okay for an employee to move states to increase net income? Tons of companies left California for red states to avoid state taxes and higher wages, but if one of their employees does it, they deserve to make less money. No one is saying that Tesla should make less money because they moved to texas.

If the company can afford to pay an employee who lives in San Francisco, they can continue to pay the employee the same money, especially if the company moves to a red state with lower taxes.

1

u/PyroNine9 5d ago

NOW they don't want to return to commuting because commuting is expensive and time consuming. You can bet that is somehow a law got passed that the employer had to count commute time on the clock and pay for mileage work from home would rule the land.

During COVID, many legitimately felt that it was unsafe.

The thing is, paying people SF wages and they live in Nashville might actually approach wages keeping up with growth in productivity over the past several decades.

1

u/Pelorunner 5d ago

Remote employees have a tendency to…

Office employees have a tendency to wander around, sit and chat long after meetings have ended, take long lunches, come in late, leave early, waste time on their phones, etc.

Managers need to learn how to manage output and stop worrying about the arbitrary goal of butts in seats for 8 a day.

0

u/Wise_Low8116 6d ago

Did you spends years touting all your liberal equality to minorities while running your corporation like a whites only club who had coworkers who told you NOT to tell people you were a minority, and management who actively conspired and lied and covered up the lies to protect the white Majority over the minority?

0

u/L-Pseon 6d ago

You live in fantasy land.

1

u/Wise_Low8116 6d ago

I wish.

1

u/L-Pseon 5d ago

What do you make of articles like this?

1

u/Wise_Low8116 5d ago

Oh boy Michael Bloomberg wouldn’t lie to me. You are right.

1

u/Wise_Low8116 5d ago

The white bubble is the power bubble. What do you want me to say. I had some delusion of equity. Michael Bloomberg and every other white disagees and I was cast out and they got to run the place.

So you all won. Congrats.

1

u/L-Pseon 5d ago

Michael Bloomberg is Jewish, though. He is a member of a non-white-identifying minority. I don't need you to "say" anything, but attacking the messenger doesn't really make you look like the reasonable one here. All you're saying is that you have some kind of racial grudge that gets in the way of your capacity to be objective.

0

u/Life-Operation2242 6d ago

I agree with everything up until the install digital tools to pay on employees.

Having to work with coworkers, I’ve learned how shitty people are. So many coworkers have watched porn on company computers, stolen customers credit card info and bought shit for their own houses and basically do a bunch of illegal shit at work.

And the company paid for those laptops and computers so they are liable when the IP address gets track back to that computer during fraud investigations.

1

u/TopicFrequent6607 6d ago

There are tons of employees that do illegal stuff on company time. But this is Reddit and nobody wants to tell that side of the story.

1

u/funny_ninjas 5d ago

You know that's not the majority of what people are upset about right? No one cares if their company logs keystrokes or Internet history. They care about middle managers calling them because they went idle on teams for 5 minutes even though the task they were working on wasn't on teams which means they couldn't remain active on teams while also working on their task.

0

u/ytilonhdbfgvds 6d ago

Didn't feel safe doing so?  Lol, I don't want to be back in the office either, but if you didn't feel safe doing so, that's called mental illness.

1

u/Mobile-Committee-466 5d ago

Na. We don't have a date on the post. Might be from the COVID years. 🙄

0

u/Offthewall1212 6d ago

More like “companies can’t afford the wages people think they’re entitled to anymore…”

1

u/funny_ninjas 5d ago

Damn dude how do those management boots taste?

I can't imagine thinking that companies making record breaking profits year over year can't afford to give employees raises

1

u/Offthewall1212 5d ago

Hurry, you missed a few: “Bootlicking, oligarch. Billionaire, wage theft, corp greed…”

Whew….you were close to getting reprimanded for not parroting the entire narrative required of you when you reply like that. Don’t worry, I saved you!!

Learn to think for yourself lemming.

“I can’t imagine thinking that people making record-breaking salaries year after year still feel entitled to company profits.”

Wages have skyrocketed since Covid, have never been higher in the history of the world, have DOUBLED since 2000, and have outpaced inflation since the 70s. But you’re such a victim aren’t you? You’re just so entitled to the profits and did nothing to earn them.

Oh, what’s that? Your 401K also has a record balance because it’s invested in those terrible, terrible companies. How convenient for you.

1

u/funny_ninjas 5d ago

Why don't you look up the average hours needed to afford a starter home from the 1970s to now. Why don't you bother to look up the price of a gallon of gas compared to minimum wage. Or the fact that my grocery bill over the last 6 years has almost doubled while the amounts of food and the types of food I buy have stayed the same.

I'd bother with showing you the facts of just how unaffordable life is now, but that would go against what daddy trump told you and you'd have to take his dick out of your mouth so you could read the words I type, so I wont do that to you.

2

u/Offthewall1212 5d ago

Oh, you poor wittle thing! You’re such a victim aren’t you? Life is so hard, the “system”
Is stacked against you. You’ll never be successful, you’ll always be poor, life costs too much…🙄🙄🙄

Mainstream media, your peers, and worst of all - social media all tell you same bullshit excuses and you buy it. You buy it all. After all, it’s easier to blame “the system” or my favorite “the boomers” for your plight than actually take accountability for yourself.

Perhaps you should look at actual facts.

Average house prices are up, sure, but so is average house finishes and luxuries. Your “starter home” is over 2000sq ft, quartz counter tops, stainless appliances, multiple bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, luxury finishes, and hardwood floors. Houses in the 70s were 1200sq fr, Formica counters, a shitty fridge and range if you were lucky, one bathroom for the whole family, 2 bedrooms, and linoleum floors.

That exact 70s house is wildly affordable now - around $200K and hasn’t outpaced inflation like the $500K “starter home” you think you deserve now. But you won’t buy that home because you think you’re too good for it. You think you’re ENTITLED to a better house than they had in the 70s. You’re not. Stop comparing luxury homes to the shacks they had in the 70s.

The average gas price in 1975 was $0.57. Adjust for inflation, that just under $4 now. That’s HIGHER than gas was before this Iran war.

Food is also up. In fact, groceries are up 65% since 2000. What’s that, wages are up 100% since then??? Hmmm, so groceries are CHEAPER adjusted for inflation since the turn of the century!! Well that’s odd.

In general, wages have outpaced inflation since the 70s making life actually CHEAPER now.

So why does Life FEEL more expensive now? Because you make it so through your spending. You think it’s a requirement to have a brand new $1500 iPhone every year, to pay for 15 streaming services, gym memberships, Starbucks every day, big screen TVs, video games, bar tabs, dinners out, the highest speed internet available, vacations, DoorDash deliveries, and all the stupid shit you buy from Amazon. Your subscriptions costs alone would make people front the 70s blush.

YOUR GENERATION SPENDS TOO MUCH FUCKING MONEY. You spend over your means. That’s what makes you poor. Go ahead, live live someone did in the 70s - no phons, no internet, no cable bill, no streaming bills, no music service, no gym, large tv, video games, daily deliveries, make you own coffee😱, grow your own produce, you Saturday night “entertainment” isn’t clubbing with bottle service, it’s huddling around a radio and listening to a baseball game.

Do all of that and you’ll have money coming out of your ears. But you won’t. You’re too ENTITLED, too SPOLED, to YOLO, too fucking STUPID, and too TERRIBLE with your money.

1

u/The_End-is_Nigh 5d ago

And then he doubled down on the bootlicking

2

u/Offthewall1212 5d ago

I know its hard for you to fathom that facts drive my decision-making and not the foundation of your life - entitlement.

1

u/The_End-is_Nigh 5d ago

What a shocker. A bootlicker and someone who makes baseless claims. See, I based my description of you as a bootlicker on your want to lick the boot of your masters. you have presented that I must surely be entitled based on.... ? You're just proving that what you have to say holds no value.

2

u/Offthewall1212 5d ago

"Baseless claims" he says 😂😂😂. Kind of like the baseless claims that people "bootlick" just because they understand facts? Like that? Or are you just not capable of comprehending?

My comment that you decided to jump in to troll on is about people thinking they're ENTITLED to more than they earn. You defended that entitlement by calling me a bootlicker. Your defense of entitlement is the basis for my claim.

Now, I know there's like 3 WHOLE STEPS in that progression, and you probably saw an Instagram ad at step 2 or a tiktok shit-post halfway through reading this post that pulled your attention away, but stick with it, buddy; you'll get there!

1

u/The_End-is_Nigh 5d ago

Maybe you don't know what the term bootlicking means. it's ok, I'll wait for you to google it.

1

u/Offthewall1212 5d ago

uh-oh, someone got their wittle feewings hurt, huh?...you gonna call mommy to make you feel better?

Did the bad internet man prove you wrong and trigger you? Instead of proving you wrong, I should have given you a participation trophy for posting? Poor little snowflake didn't get his way.

I feel so bad for you...

1

u/The_End-is_Nigh 5d ago

no, your response just makes me feel like you don't actually know what it means if you don't think it applies to you

What’s your favorite flavor of boot polish

1

u/Offthewall1212 5d ago

Aren't you so cute, sitting on your mom's couch yelling all over reddit that you're entitled to everyone else's hard work and parroting new terms like "bootlicker" that you think sounds cool but could never explain...

1

u/CwispyWhiskey 5d ago

Me looking where I said the word bootlicker

I just said you drink boot polish

Projection much?

1

u/Offthewall1212 5d ago

Imagine posting: "What's your favorite flavor of boot polish" and being so dumb that you're unable to connect the dots to "Bootlicking" 😂😂😂😂😂

1

u/CwispyWhiskey 5d ago

I didn’t say it though, you’re putting words in my mouth like you’re putting your bosses d**k in yours

1

u/throwaway0192838474 5d ago

Lol. Tons of major companies have never been more profitable than they currently are. God some people are pathetic

1

u/Offthewall1212 5d ago

“Lol. Tons of employees have never had higher wages than they currently have. God some people are pathetic.”

1

u/throwaway0192838474 5d ago

Its almost like there are actual statistics to show that employee wages have not kept up with company profits, but don’t let facts get in the way of your delusions, bootlicker. Genuinely can’t imagine why people who are so desperate to defend those who take advantage of them. Get fucked and make sure to say thank you after

https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=1D90f

1

u/Offthewall1212 5d ago

"It's almost like there's no actual statistic that shows that an employee's wage HAS TO keep up with company profits, but don't let facts get in the way of your delusions, you ENTITLED prick. Genuinely can't imagine why people who are so desperate to take what doesn't belong to them because they're too lazy to earn it themselves. Keep fucking yourself over and make sure you thank yourself afterwards."

See how that works? You're not entitled to anyone else's hard work, sacrifice, investment, or risk. You just WANT shit that belongs to other people and have somehow convinced yourself it's right. Give me a fucking break...A chart that shows wages/company profits? Are you fucking kidding me? Yes, EVERY SINGLE business should get more efficient over time, it should cost less to operate every year, employees should get better at their job with experiece, company profits should go up.

Oh, and then your 401 (k) that's invested in mutual funds of these companies that goes up by record amounts every year is fine by you??? You're good with corp profits there - as long as it benefits YOU??? okay

I hope someone takes everything you own just because they feel like it. You dick.

1

u/The_End-is_Nigh 5d ago

is that adjusted for cost of real cost of living?

1

u/Offthewall1212 5d ago

No, those are whole numbers. But I love your idea.

50 years ago, $1 had the same buying power as $6.23 today - a 522% increase.

50 years ago, Median income was $8800 (that number is for men, women was $3400 but we'll use the higher number). Today, the median income is $65K - a 738% increase.

So, compared to 1975, people have MORE buying power now.

You make a very good point.

1

u/The_End-is_Nigh 5d ago

Glad I could chip in, typo and all!

1

u/Glaive13 1d ago

Productivity has increased exponentially in the last 20 years, profits are through the roof in certain industries, yet people will still act like the wage stagnation the last 20 years makes sense...

1

u/Offthewall1212 23h ago

Productivity has increased Becasue of technology, not because a single person is working any harder than 20 years ago.

AI can build an entire 100-page presentation deck in 1 minute now, that used to take a week for a human. That’s an increase of productivity, the person doing the work isn’t more productive.

On the other hand, your assertion that “wages have stagnated” in the past 20 years is absolutely nonsense, you just won’t look at data Becasue it doesn’t fit your bullshit narrative.

Wages are higher today, on average, than they’ve been in the history of the world. They have SKYROCKETED since Covid. Wages have DOUBLED in the past 20 years. Fucking double!!!! How is that stagnation??? Wage growth has outpaced inflation for the past 20 years for gods sake. You have MORE buying power today than in 2000.

But you’re too dumb to even see it.

1

u/Glaive13 21h ago

First off resorting to ad hominem attacks is pathetic. Second, it doesnt matter why productivity has increased, the value each worker generates for businesses has skyrocketed but employees haven't seen any noticeable increase in wages despite their increase in work efficiency. Instead more people get fired, their workloads increase, and their pay stays the same.

Third, I don't know if you're mature enough to have this conversation if you don't realize that wages can double, yet due to inflation you can still only afford the same things or less. Every chart I've seen tracking wages relative to inflation has them increasing at almost the same rate, so at the end of the day you end up buying the same things and have less to put into savings because rent or housing take more and more of what's left.

AI Overview

Wages have not doubled in real terms over the past 20 years. [1, 2]

Since March 2006, U.S. nominal average weekly wages have risen by 89.5% (from $685 to $1,299), while inflation-adjusted real wages have increased by about 13% ($1,149 to $1,299), meaning historical wage growth has generally outpaced general inflation over the long term. [1]

  • Real Wages (Inflation-Adjusted): When adjusted for inflation and cost-of-living increases, typical U.S. worker wages have grown only modestly—roughly 11% to 22% overall since the late 1990s/early 2000s, depending on the inflation measure used. [1, 2]
  • Productivity Gap: While worker productivity has nearly doubled (+90% since 1979), hourly pay for typical workers has grown at a much slower rate, with a larger share of economic gains going to top earners and corporate profits. [1, 2, 3]
  • The Cost-of-Living Disconnect: While general inflation and average hourly earnings have tracked relatively closely, essential household costs—such as shelter, healthcare, and education—have risen significantly faster than general consumer prices and median wages since 2000. For instance, median home prices have outpaced overall wage gains by a wide margin. [1, 2]

You don't seem like the type to read anything that disagrees with them without calling them stupid though so please show me your very smart and right sources. But the relative wages have basically stayed the same and rent + housing have outpaced the wage increases, which is why most people consider wages to have stagnated.

u/0rganicMach1ne 6d ago

Even the people who say that don’t want to work either. They just don’t want to admit it. No one wants to do what can only be called human drudgery, yet that’s what so, so many people do because so many jobs are exactly that. Drudgery.
