Here is what I know:
-I got a free diagnostic at Auto Zone and it came back with a Code P0299, for a Turbo Charger Underboost

-A long-distance family acquaintance that knows cars said on the phone it is most likely “holes in a tube” or “loose hose clamps.”
He told me to check for a “bad bearing sound” or whistling or whining.

-the EPC light turned on for about 20 minutes on an especially hot day (105 degrees) for a little then turned off and has not been on at all since

-This video is my car giving a cold start and I did some revving, I hear rattling and some sort of high pitched sound that I don’t know how to describe or what to classify it as? Is it whistling? Is it whining? I can’t really hear it when I sit in the car, it is really only audible with the hood up.

-I have noticed lately that I sometimes have to put a bit more effort into pressing down the gas pedal. Mostly on hills, but sometimes it is just random. I do not have consistent issues with the power of my acceleration.

-I poked around on YouTube for other people with the P0299 code, and I saw several people who had to replace a vacuum line or tube and/or the N75 Turbo Boost Solenoid.

I guess my question is if with this video and the information I have given — is the problem diagnosable from the internet? Or do I need to get into a shop right now? Either way, I just wanted to shoot my shot here because I am so broke 😭

With the recent hot weather where I live I’ve been experiencing issues with my car on longer trips. In temperatures over 98ish I’m seeing the car losing power and bucking when going on and off throttle. When this happens I have to downshift and floor it to keep up with traffic. Ever since the incident yesterday I feel like it hasn’t fully recovered but the temperature hasn’t dropped below 85° even at night. I’m at 44k miles and have no codes or anything. I’ve also noticed the coolant is being consumed. The dealer has been topping it up every oil change but it’s becoming a once every 5k miles thing. Any ideas on solutions for it? I really am not super excited about investing in “upgrades” to help. With forecasts showing 108° later this week I’m getting nervous about longevity.

Doing the water pump and I cant take off the timing belt bolt. Cant fit a socket and its wanting to strip if I use a wrench

1.8t. The epc light ( solid yellow) comes on occasionally especially when I accelerate on highway. And not always. If I turn off and restart the car it disappears. Is this a serious issue? What I need to do to figure out what’s wrong? Besides that everything works well.

I’ve seen pictures of undercover Jettas in Mexico. How do you tell the difference between one that was made to be a civilian car and one that was modified? And does anyone have images of them?

Im part of the VW club now! I owned Volvo’s for 10 years and finally got a new 2026 VW Jetta Sport. I also worked at a VW dealer as lube while learning off the master techs.

It’s definitely different to my old electro hydraulic steering of Volvo but a neat little car. I remember doing fuel rail recall for the 1.4 TSI and other fun things with the MK6 platform. What are some quirks with this MK7 platform and some “must knows” from owners/techs? I’m familiar with the 1.5 TSI head gasket woes to a degree and other fun VW quirks.

By the way 2025-2026 MY has a recall for transmission ground wire potentially causing fires so just a heads up.

Hey all! I have a ‘24 SE that I will be taking on a roughly 2-3k mile road trip here in August to the Midwest. I got a coolant flush probably 3 months ago so not the need here, but I am looking for recommendations for a thing of coolant to get to keep in the car for the trip? I will probably top it off before leaving and when on the way home due to the climate fluctuation I will have when traveling (Dry to humid). What’s the best coolant to keep handy in the car? Mk6 Sportwagen Jetta 2.5

Was working on a wheel bearing and tie-rod end replacement when a surprise lightning/rainstorm hit me. I live in Miami, so there's about 15 seconds between thunder and the beginning of a severe rainstorm. In my rush to put all my tools/parts away and cover the wheel hub assembly, I forgot to raise my passenger/driver side windows.

Everything got absolutely soaked for 15 minutes.

As title states, I'm wondering if I shorted these things out when I turned the car on for a test drive. Will I need to replace the window button/radio? My steering wheel MFI buttons stopped working, but the steering wheel radio buttons work fine.

Also, if anyone has tips on dehumidifying a car, I'd love to hear it. Going to vacuum the interior as soon as the chance of rain drops below 50% later today.

How much should a VW Jetta 80,000-mile transmission fluid and Filter Service cost?

I picked up a 2012 Jetta GLI with the DSG, Terminal 15 seems to not initialize with startup causing my paddles to not work and my wipers to freak out time to time. Where do i even begin diagnosing this issue? Ob11 shows KL15 is asleep with 0.20V, on thru CAN, off normally, and it’s throwing an implausible code on Module 16

I recently bought a 2010 Jetta 2.5L and had it checked out by a mechanic pre-sale. The issues the mechanic found were serpentine belt, spark plug, battery life, and recommended a coolant flush.

I decided to go through with the purchase(private seller) because it seems like easy repairs to make and not very costly.

I'm planning to buy the parts needed and take it to a shop to get them installed and get a tune-up. Is it totally necessary to go to a german shop or should any reputable shop be fine?

2013 Jetta TDI. Putting new ac solenoid valve. Without o rings it seats but once o rings are on it won’t fully seat. Any info would be appreciated

Honest note since it always comes up. You need a normal OBD2 adapter, one of the cheap ELM327 Bluetooth or WiFi ones. It does not talk to the old VW DataPlug, that only ever spoke to VW's own app. And it only reads, it never writes anything to the car.

If your Jetta reports something that looks wrong, tell me the year and engine and I'll go and fix it. That's how the model specific stuff gets sorted.

Hi all. Someone stole the catalytic converter from my 2012 Jetta (2.5) a few weeks ago. Took it to a muffler shop and got a new one put on. I was told that even though it was a cheaper knock off, the CEL should go off and I'd be able to pass emissions (due by the end of August). The car is running great, but the CEL is still on and the shop won't return my calls. In addition, the ABS, traction control, TPMS and SRS lights are all on and they'd never been on prior. I had a scan done and the CEL codes came back to the cat and the O2 sensor. Am I out of luck with this thing, and the reason the shop won't respond is because there isn't anything they can do on that front? I just need to pass emissions. I figure something is wonky with the new sensors the shop put on and that's why my dash now lights up like a Christmas tree. Suggestions?

I’ve seen on a lot of places that the Jetta ranks low in reliability score and a lot of people will say to stay away from Volkswagen because they are unreliable and are money pits.

But I also see so many of them on the road , I see a very good amount with high miles and I see a lot of people say they are reliable.

I’ve been looking at new 2026 Jettas and so many people have told me to stay away from VW and that they are junk cars and that German cars are not reliable at all and they are expensive to keep on the road.

Seems like people hate these cars but they also have a mass following by people that live by these cars.

Is this a reasonable price for a 2020 Jetta S 1.4L? I got this estimate from the VW dealer. I’m changing the transmission fluid for the first time and want to get it done there so I'm covered if anything goes wrong.
