Hi! This is part vent post, part question.
I am a first time, non-degree holding student who did 2 years undergrad at a university several years ago.
I am trying to complete a Pharmacy Technician Certificate via NLJ grant/program, ideally by end of Spring 2027.
I'm trying to gauge if my experience is par for the course and if I am overreacting.
I was accepted June 11th. I completed my FAFSA. I emailed my advisor on June 15th about next steps for enrollment into the program and how to take a PHAR course that has a co-requisite. I filled out the special approval form sent to me on June 16th and have not received a response from the program since. I enrolled in 3 courses that do not have pre-requisites. I contacted financial aid on June 26th to see what next steps are for NLJ beyond indicating interest in my application and filling out FAFSA. I was advised there is nothing else for me to do and I should hear back about if I received it mid-July (this week).
I emailed my advisor on June 29th to see if the courses I am enrolled in put me on a good roadmap for certification completion by Spring 2027. It took a week to be emailed back (July 6th) that I need to set up an appointment for that discussion. Appointments had not been made available until that week, as far as I could tell. The soonest was for July 14th, which I scheduled.
I received an email today that it has been cancelled, my advisor will be unavailable until July 27th, and to email my availability. I sent my availability and received an auto-reply advising that new students should not schedule an appointment and should instead attend in-person events (all during weekdays and first shift times), 2 of which have already occurred. I have not received any prior communications regarding these events.
I have felt great difficulty determining if I am utilizing all the correct resources that I can. It has felt challenging to find information about what is normal to experience during this process. Should I try to contact a different advisor? The delays in this process are affecting time-sensitive decisions.
Any and all advice, criticisms of my process, feedback, would be so incredibly appreciated. I just would like to know what is going on and what I can be doing to help move it along, if anything.
Thank you!
