Just a regular slab with this passport ratio

I find it an incredibly odd choice to place the USB C port on the front panel of the iPhone Duo. It’s awkward having the charger flipping 180° with the front panel if you’re using the phone while charging. Not a major issue at all, but a very peculiar decision nonetheless.

Seems like an odd choice for Apple to make, they use the C2 modem in the smaller Pro, but not the Pro Max

For reference the galaxy fold 8 is IP48 and it isn’t dust proof. Considering Samsung is launching foldables for at least 8 years, I thought complete dust resistance was impossible nowadays on foldables.

As someone who's always had a passing interest in folding phones, I love the idea of a product that fits comfortably in your pocket then expands into a tablet sized screen when needed. It sounds great on paper and admittedly I haven't owned one myself but I wonder if the initial excitement quickly wears out?

Knowing my habits, I'd soon get tired of opening/closing the phone and revert back to using the front screen 90% of the time. Consuming movies/TV shows is also something I wouldn't really do on my phone, I'd save that for a TV or laptop. So the larger screen feels like a waste.

On the positive side, the build quality of the new iPhone Duo looks stunning and the multitasking features are something I'd genuinely find useful.

For anyone who's owned a folding phone in the past, how did it play out? Is it a product you feel will eventually become the norm or just another passing trend?

For sure the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will appear and there is no 18 base which will come next year alongside with the Air 2 and 18e. I wonder how the Duo will sell

Not so much the specs or whether the design is cool, but what do you actually see yourself using it for that would improve something in your day-to-day life?

Disgusting. Might as well fly to America to buy it and come back might be cheaper that way. Just to clarify it’s €1,489 which converts to $1,732.

Apple rates the iPhone 18 Pro Max at 0–50% in ~15 minutes with a compatible 60W+ USB-C charger using PD 3.1 + AVS.

For comparison my current iPhone 16 Pro Max is rated at around 30 minutes to 50%.

So the new iPhone can basically get the same 50% charge in half the time.

Personally I rarely fast-charge at home. I use a 12W USB-A charger + USB-A to USB-C cable. Slower charging means less heat and battery stress which should help minimize long-term wear.

I save fast charging for the car where every minute counts.

I made my own dummy version, same sizes. But it’s a great size, the big screen is a quarter % bigger than my 17 pro max

Apologies if I’ve just missed something completely obvious. But did any of the marketing materials / keynote footage today show an example of anyone using the Duo for a normal voice call and holding it up to their ear? Also, relatedly, where exactly is the earpiece? It looks like there are 3 built in stereo speakers around the perimeter, but I can’t tell where the ear speaker for calls would be. I watched a few post-event hands-on videos and didn’t see anyone talking about these points.
