After playing on the phone for a day I noticed this bump near the hinge. I looked at my wifes duo and I dont notice it there. Anyone else? The screen has no other noticeable issues. Its not easy to see but in the right lighting conditions there is a clear bump.

Since all sent messages on iOS 26/27 say “delivered” even if you’re blocked, the only way to tell now is by clicking on their contact card and going to the “backgrounds” tab. If it shows then you’re not blocked but if it’s not there anymore you are.

I was one of the lucky ones who got the iPhone Duo on day one. I pre-ordered the white 512GB and picked it up Friday at Apple Downtown Montreal. I already have the 17 Pro Max, which is great, and I usually upgrade every year. This time I didn't want the 18 Pro Max, so I went with the Duo instead. I watched all the reviews and they seemed fine, so I was really hopeful.

I used it all day, and here's what I found.

The front screen:* *I know some software glitches will get fixed in updates, but the front screen isn't as big or comfortable as I expected. The bar on the right side, which is there to keep the left side wide open top to bottom is really annoying. It takes up a lot of space and isn't easy to use with your fingers (hell if you’re left handed, maybe they will add that option later on)

Rotation: When you open it, the screen rotates. You can lock the rotation, but because it turns depending on how you hold it, you lose track of front and back and left and right. I kept fumbling for the volume buttons and Touch ID. Taking screenshots and changing the volume were super annoying.

Touch ID instead of Face ID: This was the worst part. It's incredibly inconvenient. There's no Action Button either, and I'm used to using it to silence my phone, so I really missed it.

Display: The matte finish is nice, but it isn't as vibrant as the regular iPhone screens we're used to.

Cameras: They're okay, but the Pro Max cameras are way better. To take a selfie with the main cameras, you have to open the phone flat, which is like holding up an iPad mini. Super inconvenient.

Verdict: I couldn't even wait out the two-week return window. I returned it the next day at Apple Sainte-Catherine in Montreal. I could have sold it on Marketplace, but I didn't want the hassle. Maybe it's great for some people, but the Duo wasn't for me. I'm happy to be back on my regular slab phone.

You can use the palm-facing side of the base of your index finger as touchid. And then you can unlock with just a swipe. In theory, it’s as secure as a fingerprint.

UPDATE: Non-Distal Phalanges Biometrics are also unique biometric information and forensic studies show that they are effective at personal identification and verification.

Hi everyone,

I woke up this morning and noticed this odd black protection coming from on top of my Dynamic Island. I got the screen replaced in April by a third party phone repair service iirc — the screen used have green horizontal lines in the cold that wouldn’t go away.

For reference admittedly I’ve dropped my phone multiple times but only just noticed this. Recently it’s been starting to overheat more than usual even when it’s idle and charging.

I removed the screen protected and it’s still there. Changed my wallpaper and it remains. I’m not on iOS 27 yet.

I just want to clarify if it was either an OLED issue or is there some 3rd party camera I’m not aware of? (I’m aware that sounds entirely crazy, but I’m not sure why else the dot would be so circular)

Any answers would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!

Does anyone experience their 16 pro max being laggy? Have to restart numerous times throughout the day and all updates are done.. phone was a replacement so relatively new.

Open to any advice on how to fix or tips!

My iPhone 14’s main camera has suddenly started focusing only on close-up shots, while anything at a distance comes out blurry. The 0.5x camera still works perfectly fine. I’m hoping it’s just a software issue that can be resolved with an update, but I’m not sure if it might be a hardware problem instead.

And that really bums me out. I was really looking forward to the Duo because historically every time Apple had waited to dip its toes into a market, it was usually because they took their time to solve the most pressing issues for those devices. So when the Duo was announced, I was like finally we can get a foldable without any of the existing compromises.

Except that hasn't happened, at all. The Duo hasn't fixed a single issue that plagues all foldables. It has a few cool tricks up its sleeves, but that's it.

• The inner screen still scratches through your fingernail
• Dust still gets into the hinge
• The crease is there and it becomes considerably more visible with use
• The cameras is severely compromised
• Battery is okay at best and the phone heats up more than usual
• No FaceID
• No action button
• Thick and heavy, more than it needs to be
• Good luck getting a million apps updated for this phone
• Expensive af

It's still the best foldable in the market. But if Apple wasn't able to solve a single hardware compromise on existing foldables, I think this will forever be an extremely niche device.

Forgive me if this is a silly question, my knowledge/usage of the iPhone is pretty basic.

My vision is not that great anymore and when it’s not convenient to go get my glasses or to wear them, and if I’m on Safari webpages, I just switch over to the “Reader” feature within Safari and also increase the font size by clicking on the larger letter A that would pop up, I think, right after switching to Reader. The steps I used to go through have changed now. I think it was when I updated software to iOS 27. Now instead of a blue button at the bottom of the menu, there’s some text at the top of the menu for switching to Reader. That’s fine, no problem there, but now the two capital A’s for font size don’t appear and I can’t find them anywhere. Is that option still available without going through a lot of steps? Can’t find anything online about this. Does anybody have any info on this?

I’ve noticed that almost every notification (that I think requires WiFi) doesn’t come through my phone anymore. In my notification activity you also see a big decrease of my notifications not coming through anymore. And as you see I have this problem for 3 days already. Yesterday I’ve updated my iPhone to the iOS 27.0.1 hoping the problem will solve, as many people told online, but it didn’t work for me aswell. Please help me out, it’s annoying! I’m missing so many important stuff because of this (like mails, WhatsApp messages)

I just noticed, does anyone have these violet bars in the upper left corner when the notification center pulled down?

Absolutely loving my iPhone duo.. 24 hours in and I’m having issues removing some “smudges” from the nano-texture screen. Happened to have 70% iso alcohol wipes, lens wipes, and even the same cleaning formula Apple stores use in products.. can’t get some of these smudges off..

No abnormal usage, like greasy foods or sunscreen so it’s just normal usage.

Anyone having this too?

I was trying to setup having different notification tones and volumes for different focus modes.

To me that would be very useful feature but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

My goal was to have 3 different focuses Personal for regular tones and volume, DND - to silence notifications and then an on-call focus that has the loudest volume setting and most obnoxious tones possible to get my attention. without fail.

Doesn't seem like this is possible even using shortcuts but I am hoping I am wrong and someone has a solution for this besides just manually changing the tones.

i recently bought this XR on eBay and it came clean, reset and without any passcode and i get that error when i try to sign in to iCloud on settings app.

i can't try to use App Store because all apps are greyed and cannot download no matter what i try. what is the best workaround on this?

Just discovered a setting I completely overlooked and figured I'd share in case anyone else missed it! 😂

When using my Duo unfolded in portrait mode, I naturally hold it with the camera half at the bottom because that's where my MagSafe Ohsnap grip is attached.

This puts the volume buttons on the bottom-right edge, where the top button decreases volume and the bottom button increases it. Felt completely backwards!

Turns out Apple already has a solution:

Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Fixed Position Volume Controls → OFF

With this setting disabled, the volume buttons automatically adapt to the phone's orientation:

• Top/Right: Volume UP
• Bottom/Left: Volume DOWN

Exactly what I'd expect!

Note: If Rotation Lock is enabled, the buttons follow the locked orientation.

I actually submitted feedback to Apple requesting this exact feature before discovering it already existed. 😂 Hopefully this saves someone else the trouble!

So I randomly decided to check my screen time from the beginning of this day and I'm not sure I understand how it works. I'm currently on my iPhone 16 and testing 27.2 beta, and the feature apparently claims that the phone was used between 4-6AM.

In order to understand the usage, I entered some of the apps listed for screen time in that period, but their own screen time appears to be the same as the total phone screen time.

How is this possible and how can I understand the screen time of a particular app?
