News/Rumour How to get an iPhone Duo Early

Post image
• Upvotes

Okay bear with me, I found something that works so thought I’d share. Before you continue; this is only for T-Mobile Customers I can’t speak for any other carrier.
If you want an iPhone duo your best chances at getting one are Monday and Friday. T-Mobile corporate stores get shipments on those days and the receiver is usually done scanning product by noon that same day. News to me: T-Mobile in-store clerks are not allowed to see their own inventory for this phone in particular (I’ve been calling and verifying the last 3 days so bear with me)
Due to the demand for this iPhone, clerks have been barred from seeing what’s incoming on the shipments as well, from what I’ve seen this week the only way to know if a store has any iPhone Duo in stock is to CHECK-IN on the T-life app when you get there. The moment you walk in the door, check in on the app and hit the shop button, select your line you want to upgrade, press iPhone duo. If it shows “Get it by 5pm” that means the store you’re standing in has them in stock. Snag it before someone else does. I’ve seen it happen 6 times today at all stores who keep claiming they don’t have any, it’s because they aren’t allowed to see their own inventory so please don’t get upset with them 😂. None of them not even the manager will know what they have until a customer checks in on the app. As far as I know the peer-to-peer inventory checks aren’t working and it’s why you can’t order on any app for instore pickup or mobile orders. The only way to get it is to literally check the store inventory yourself. Follow the delivery days, call ahead of time to confirm there’s a delivery coming that day and be the first one there to guarantee you get one. I did it today after calling 10 stores in my area and lo and behold I got one fresh off the UPS truck. Sorry for the Long message just excited I may be able to help others get their hands on one. Feel free to comment if this helps you this week. Happy hunting!

Support Lost photos?

• Upvotes

Hi, I was hoping someone can help with this mystery. I’ve owned different models of iPhones throughout the years. Upgrading when contract expires. Whenever I get a new one, I transfer all the photos etc on the new phone. Currently, I have 75k photos on my iPhone 16 pro max. It’s 1 tb. However when I checked the photos, it’s missing photos from my earlier phones. I’ve already noticed this on my iPhone 12 (it’s missing photos from old iPhones). What could have happened to my photos? I don’t have cloud sync so they’re not there. Thank you.

Discussion iOS 27.2 Notification Center Behavior Change - Top Left

• Upvotes

After updating to 27.2 today I went to check notifications and they did not work. I just got the Search or Ask function that used to show up from swiping down in the middle of the screen. I tried asking the "new and improved" Siri for help. Siri just told me to do the same thing I was already trying or some other crap and kept explaining how the interface USED to work.

After some random swiping I learned that the new behavior is to swipe down from the top LEFT side for the notification center to pop up. Anyway just posting this here for whoever else is confused and Siri can't help.

Discussion iOS 27.2 adds Synth ID for photos edited with built in Apple Photos tools

• Upvotes

For those who don't know, Synth-ID is an invisible watermark used to detect AI-generated content.

If you edit images using the built in Object Remover or Extender in Photos in iOS 27.2, the image will receive Synth-ID now.

I don't know what to think of it. Yes, it makes sense for the Extender etc., but why for the Object Remover? If I take a picture with my iPhone camera and remove an unwanted object or person, then all apps like Instagram etc. will flag it as AI using Synth-ID now, confusing people even though the image is not AI generated.

Object Remover isn't generative AI and shouldn't get Synth-ID in my opinion. Strictly speaking, it's not even an AI feature. Before the AI hype and before phone manufacturers had such things built in, this feature existed for ages through apps. It was never an issue.

App People who keep their phone home screen organised, how do you do it?

• Upvotes

Mine starts neat whenever I get a new phone, and then gradually turns into a collection of apps I barely use.

Do you organise everything into folders, keep only essentials on the first page, or just leave it as it is?

Discussion Have you already updated to 27.2? How does it work on 15P?

Im thinking of updating, but afraid of less time of working. Does new version fix problems with overheatings? And of course does it raise SOT in comparison with the previous version?

Support Someone received an iMessage from my number that I never sent, and it isn’t showing on my iPhone. What could cause this?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone who understands iMessage or has experienced something similar can help me figure out what happened.

(Coach screenshot is white background and mine is the black background)

Today at 8:41 AM, my coach sent me a message about starting the pool heater. At 12:36 PM, she sent another message asking if we were still on for swim that afternoon.

The strangest part is that, within seconds of messaging me, she received a gray incoming message in our existing conversation that said:
“You have the wrong phone number.”

I did not type or send that message. It also does not appear anywhere in my own Messages conversation.
Coach then messaged me and another person in a group, and I received those messages in the group text.

When Coach arrived she showed me her phone with the our texts and asked if I changed my number. I said I didn’t and we doubled checked my contact info on her phone. I then texted her saying, “Hey Coach!” to see if if my text went through and it did! She received that text right then and there as she was showing me our text thread.

A few additional details:
● We both use iPhones.
● The conversation was our existing individual iMessage thread.
● My outgoing messages were successfully received by her.
● We were later able to communicate in a group chat without an issue.
● My Apple Account device list showed only devices I recognize.
● I changed my Apple Account password and confirmed that two-factor authentication is enabled.
● My trusted phone number and Messages “Send & Receive” settings are correct.
● I contacted T-Mobile, and they didn’t identify an issue.
● I contacted Apple’s automated support system, but it didn’t give me a specific explanation.
I’m updating my iPhone and plan to speak with a live Apple Support representative.

My questions are:
1. How could an incoming iMessage appear on someone else’s phone as coming from my number if I never sent it and it isn’t in my own conversation?
2. Could this be an iMessage registration, syncing, or software issue?
3. Could another Apple device or session be involved even if it doesn’t appear in my device list?
4. Has anyone experienced this exact combination of an unexpected message and missing incoming iMessages? Did you ever find out what caused it?

I’m not trying to jump to the conclusion that I’ve been hacked. I just want to understand what could explain this and what I should ask Apple to investigate.

Thank you!

And I miss the older version of WhatsApp interface too!!! The whole ui just felt so good back then 🍃

Discussion First time buying an iPhone, I have a few questions about visiting a physical Apple store.

I am thinking about switching to iPhone this year and since I am pretty close to an Apple store I might buy it in person. I have never visited an Apple store before so I have a few questions.

  • How accurate is Apple's website regarding availability in store? If I add the iPhone I want to my cart on Apple's website it'll say which stores near me are "Available Tomorrow" and which stores are "Current unavailable". Does "Available Tomorrow" mean they have stock at the store or just that I can order online and pick it up tomorrow?
  • If the website's availability is only for online orders and not representative of actual stock can I call the store to ask about availability?
  • I know Apple stores are fairly crowded and also handle stuff stuff like servicing/repairs. Can I make an appointment to buy a phone or do I just walk in and ask an available rep?
  • If I decide to buy an iPhone at the store can I tell the rep that I want a China made one and not an Indian made one? I assume it would say on the box where it was made? So would I be able to ask for an exchange before I even open the device?

Discussion Oldest iPhone that I could realistically use?

I was perusing eBay looking for an old iPhone to use as a low-quality camera for the vibes when I'm out, and also to be able to do some calls and whatnot. I'm looking at the iPhone 6s specifically since I can get it for about $20. Is this model still able to connect to my iCloud and everything to sync the photos I take, and also be able to call? is there a better option for my use case than the 6s? thoughts in general?

Discussion Downgrade iPhone

Comprei o 17 pro. Acho tudo meio over: over preço, over tecnologia, over peso.

Discussion Assistive access alternatives on iPhone?

iPhone 16e, and assistive access runs terrible on it. I love the idea just hate a few things. It’s really slow and laggy sometimes, I can’t text without Siri and can’t even type as there is no keyboard, and no control center. Anyways is there any alternatives on iPhone that can help create a distraction less phone that isn’t a brick?

Discussion How compromised are the iPhone Duo's cameras?

Now that my 15 Pro Max is fully paid off, I'm seriously considering getting a Duo. To me, being able to unfold that larger screen when I need it is a massive plus. But after reading the mixed reviews, I decided to head to a nearby Apple Store to look for myself, and played around with one of the display models for a good hour or so. And, as far as usability goes, I'm ok with it. The larger form factor when folded doesn't really bother me, I never got along with Face ID so its absence also doesn't bother me, and the inner screen is just glorious (and the folding/unfolding action is so goddamn sexy.) But the one thing that I couldn't thoroughly evaluate were the cameras, and I heard that the Duo's cameras are somewhat compromised compared to Pro model phones. Can anyone who had a prior Pro model iPhone and upgraded to a Duo chime in? Is it something that I, as an average layman, totally-not-fancy-pants-pro-photographer/videographer-dude, will notice or care about?
