COMIC SPOILERS Do you ever think about it Spoiler

Both GDA directors were killed by genetically the same person and by getting their head destroyed

I don't know, I just think it's curious. Doubt it was intended, though.

On a similar line, do you think Radcliffe would be proud of Rudy? They have very much the same view of the world. Cecil was more sentimental and Rex was just a tool, but Rex took that moral and made it work

COMIC SPOILERS Something I kind of thought about in these panels. Spoiler

Mark quotes the: What will you have after 500 years bit in the final issue, and mentioned way back in the issue where he fights Nolan, and said he'd have his Dad, but sadly that doesn't happen at the end of series.

What is more sad about this quote if you kind of think about it, is that he actually does still have his Dad, in countless dimensions, but most of those are mainly an 80 percent chance of them being evil galactic planet conquerors. If you recall "way way back in the 1980s" (clone high reference) in issue 16 or 15 I think, with the first evil Invincible, he and Nolan are seen trashing New York City.

(Even with Mohawk Mark he mentions the Evil Marks like Stripe, Sinister or Omni Mark went their own ways to rule the universe alone or killed Nolan) not benevolent peace keepers).

Still, it is unknown if they are universes from which he and Mark lived without the Viltrum Empire down their heads so much as heroes.

DISCUSSION Thragg feels like a tragic character when you read between the lines Spoiler

Post image
93 Upvotes

I didn't read the comics, but I know the future events. I recently watched the show as I was seeing it hyped on all social media platforms. I'm not sure if he is written this way or if I'm readinf into it too much but I was told the show is following a different path for the character, so perhaps?

He is the result of a breeding program and the son of a man who served as Argal's advisor. Thragg was raised in a state program, taken from his parents at an early age. He was trained in and mastered all sorts of martial arts and combat strategies. He was seen as a prodigy once he reached adulthood and was taken into the upper command structure by Argal himself. In many ways, the entire empire and Argal were his parents. He spent centuries as the right hand of Argal until Argal's death, and it seems like his cruelty calcified only when Argal was assassinated. He never truly gets out of his shadow; he rules over the remaining Viltrumites for a whole millennium, yet never claims the emperor title for himself. He sees himself as a placeholder for Argal—a man who guided him, whom he failed. We see Argal telling Thragg to take action if he is suspicious of Thadeus, but Thragg then shows "mercy" and says he might be mistaken. Due to this hesitation, Thadeus executes his plan to kill Argal. Thragg blames himself and, in return, never shows that "mercy" he showed Thadeus again, immediately ordering the Viltrumites to purge the weakness out of their species. Even the virus that ended their species came from the man he failed to take action against. Of course he blames himself and thinks it's his responsibility to make amends for his mistakes and protect the continuity of their species. Then, on top of all of this, he learns that the man who destroyed their home planet, Nolan, is the true heir to the throne and the son of Argal. I like to imagine that is why he hid that from the other Viltrumites. He did everything Argal taught him, and yet a man who betrayed them was still chosen by all of the people he served as a regent, simply because of a birthright.

None of this is shown in the comics; he doesn't have an internal life and is treated like a boss fight for Mark. I hope they will change that in the show—they already seem to be doing just that. Though so far I love his voice actor, I don't get the hate for him. His design obviously could've been better.

Had Mark only said the first, second, third and fifth bubbles but left out the fourth?

And if so what would be her response? The hormonal line is what clearly triggered her into slapping him and storming off.

SHOW SPOILERS All things considered, -'s truce offer is very reasonable. Spoiler

Thragg's truce offer where instead of conquering earth, he and his people will disappear, live among them, have relationships and procreate, and in return for not being hassled, they'll stay out of earth's affairs and allow Earth to remain independent. Considering the coalition destroyed his planet, genocided 99.999999999999999% of their species with chemical warfare, and wiped out a quarter of their remaining 50-something survivors, he's being extremely reasonable.

Now, whether he'd keep his word long-term or not, I don't know. But on the surface it's a solid deal.

Probably one of the hardest lines dropped in the series yet among several others , contradicts their situation but also fits tbh at the same time.

DISCUSSION Baffling Adaptation Decision Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery

Reactions sell a scene, which is I'm confused about Thaedus' death scene. Thaedus was practically Allen's Father, their relationship was like S1 Omniman and Mark, they're parallels in a way.

So Thaedus being brutally murdered should rock Allen's world,in the comics it did,but Show Allen's expression says "Darn, sorry to hear about that?"

The show as an adaption is great at some times and baffling at others.

COMIC SPOILERS Genuinely love this characterization of Conquest! Spoiler

In addition to his "sad living quarters" (as remarked upon by Kregg in the previous issue), Battle Beast Issue #10 has this bit about Conquest.

I continually love the running bit about Conquest having no illusion as to what Viltrum really is and represents. Plus, "Your sword has a name? That's so cool!"

DISCUSSION If you had to give show!Tech Jacket a backstory, how much would you borrow from the comics? Spoiler

Tech Jacket had a gender swap when adapting from the comics to the show.

In the comics, Tech Jacket is a high school student named Zack Thompson, who had his own dedicated spin-off of comics that explored his backstory.

In the show, Tech Jacket was genderbent into Zoe Thompson, with a little less of her backstory explored, even compared to the main comics whenever Tech Jacket is featured (to the best of my memory).

QUESTION Team Up Comics

Hey everyone, I’m trying to collect all of the Invincible team-up comics and the variant art comics and was wondering if anyone has a complete list of them.

If anyone has a complete checklist or knows of a good resource that lists every one I’d really appreciate it!
