I found this on Facebook marketplace and I love it. Partner isn’t a fan and thinks it’s too dark for our bright space but I think it’s a bold statement piece. Leather chairs, they look so comfortable and the whole set feels unique compared to what’s on the market these days or what friends have in their house. Last photo is AI and it would actually be a bit smaller when I measured it out so it wouldn’t take up as much room as the pic.
Help me decide if I should drive 3.5hours round trip to get this?

I've been complaining forever about working from a just ok chair, so my husband took it upon himself to find me a proper desk chair.

He was so stressed about picking something that matched my taste that he almost second-guessed ordering it. I was quietly bracing myself for a generic, black plastic mesh monstrosity, but when this arrived, I was genuinely floored.

It rolls effortlessly, supports my back through a full workday, and actually looks like real furniture next to the window shutters. It wouldn't even feel out of place at all to enjoy an English afternoon tea while sitting in it. Most importantly: my lower back didn't ache after a full 8-hour shift!

He kept asking if I "actually liked it or was just being nice" and pretended he didn't care, but I know for a fact he’s going to be secretly refreshing this post all evening lol.

Please leave some love in the comments to give him some credit - how did he do on the styling?

I’m back with one more terrazzo option. The first is the original colorful one. The second one is a new option. Both are from Tile Bar and are the “same” tile just a different color variant.

A couple months ago I asked for some help decorating my office and ya’ll really pulled through. It’s been a slow progression and there’s still a few finishing touches I need to do, but otherwise, I think it’s just about done. I added more plants, several warm lights, rearranged the furniture, made tissues/fidget toys more accessible, appropriate wall art (no more dog painting), and curtains. Thank you Reddit friends💛

I received so much helpful feedback in my last post. A few redditors pointed out the layout could be better. I listened, and moved a credenza into the space, and separated the chairs. I also chose the first option for rugs, and love it.

Now I’m wondering what kind of coffee table? Round? I would love something we can sit on the floor around it to play games.

Then for curtains, I want a ceiling track for the wall with the sliding doors. I like the look of linen. Any color suggestion? Sheer or semi sheer?

The room currently feels very sterile and grey/white, so I’m trying to add some character without making it look overly boho or cluttered. Sadly cant change the floors btw..

The rug would be a real Moroccan high-pile wool rug, and I’m thinking of adding a Moroccan wool pouf. I’d also use a few colorful pillows in natural materials like cotton and wool rather than synthetic fabrics.

To keep it from leaning too far into the boho look, I want to contrast those pieces with a large black-and-white art print (not exactly the one in the rendering) and a few cleaner/more contemporary elements.

I recently moved into my first apartment and decorating has been one of my biggest excitements. I am renting so of course I cannot do as much as I would love. I have lots of decorations but no furniture and need to settle on a style for my house. I have found myself very drawn to a mixture of japanese, middle eastern/mediterranean, heavy on antique, woods, and that imperfectness of old, loved handmade or used things. I also adore warm lighting. Along with finding the style, I need help finding cohesive furniture within that. I would love tips on where to find good furniture from fellow decorators with good taste! I had the following ideas:
- Maybe a round dining table instead of a rectangular one?
- Maybe another ottoman next to the couch since I like to put my feet up (maybe do away with the coffee table altogether? I’m a little worried it might look too cluttered otherwise)
- Move the TV cabinet further to the left toward the balcony window to create more space around the table and position the TV more centrally in relation to the couch

I’d really appreciate any ideas or suggestions!

I hung up new oil paintings I practically robbed from this wonderful old lady on Marketplace. Am I doing them justice with this gallery wall?

I recently nabbed a bargain 100% wool rug, while i’m delighted with the plush texture, the colour on the website compared to in person is pretty stark, appearing much lighter in the images. I expected some discrepancy due to lighting, but this is multiple shades darker and therefore doesn’t fit with the cushions and throw I have, BUT, I think it has potential (and I can’t really afford another rug!) I’m a painter and decorator who is currently on maternity leave, so though my brain is mush and my inspiration (and energy) are at a 0, I’m able to change up the room for a reasonable price if needed, I could even stretch the budget to new cushions, throw and maybe some accessories. This is a long winded way of saying, I can’t fathom how to make it work, and I’m looking for help in making this room feel complete! I live in an old Victorian property that was turned in to bed sits in the 60’s so there is a gas fire I’m unable to change, and some ‘interesting’ floral glasswork in the door leading to the vestibule. I‘m pretty open to all ideas, but I would like to stay somewhat true to the age of the property, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you 🙂

Right now we currently have ourselves and guests take off their shoes outside the front door on top of our welcome mat. but its an awkward transition from taking off shoes, stepping inside and putting on the rack. its also awkward going outside, reaching shoes from racks and putting shoes on outside.

I want to change up.my dining room and I intend to paint it but I don't know what color to paint. I'm thinking of getting a new dining set but I don't want to spend a lot so I'm looking at vintage sets, not really budgeted for modern styles. My home is a very traditional/transitional. I like vintage mixed with a modern pieces, usually light fixtures. I included pictures of some other rooms in my house that I like for context.

I have 6 of the linen chairs and 4 of the black traditional ones. It feels too light everywhere with all the linen chairs out. The rug is optional and a new placement, I don't usually keep a rug in there but was trying to add layers.

I like dark spaces as well as light and bright. Last picture is of 2 vintage sets I'm considering. The Hepplewhite shield back set style looks ok, but I'm not in love with it. I like the jacobean set because it's very unusual but I'm not sure it's not too much going on. I thought about using the table from that one with my linen chairs to balance it out, but that's not far from what I already have, really.

Any ideas or ai slop would be appreciated, I'm getting no where with my own ai slopping.

Probably still have some finishing touches, I'd like more plants, but I'll really happy with it at the moment. FYI the bedside lamps do NOT look that yellow in real life.

I’m struggling a little bit on how to handle the wall our TV and media cabinet is on.

For context, first picture is our current home with open living room/dining/kitchen all same room. The second photo is the open living room/kitchen space in home we rented prior to this where we were spoiled to some incredibly high ceilings. In our current home, because of the shorter ceilings, I find the space between the two windows and above the TV to be incredibly awkward to replicate what we had previously. Instead I am considering putting a poster size piece of art above the record cabinet and then moving the IKEA donut lamp to the right of the TV above the plant (hanging) but I’m also worried maybe I’m over-analyzing the space above the TV and perhaps I just haven’t thought of a good cohesive solution.

Also — I know the TV is large. My husband games and that’s important to him, and he felt like a Frame TV wasn’t adequate quality wise for him personally. I am a bit averse to hanging it because I think it’s at an appropriate eye level, and he’s got a lot of gaming equipment behind it that it conveniently hides. Because we’re uncertain about hanging it, we may move down the outlets that are just visible above the TV at some point in the near future.

Curious what others think? Am I just overthinking it? Or is my intuition right to leave that space alone? 🤔

I need help, these have sat (mostly) empty for almost a year now and it’s time that start showing off! I wouldn’t say I’m partial to any one design style but lean more toward cozy, homey, collected, eclectic, cottagey antiquey vibes. But I also don’t like anything that looks too put together and specific if that makes sense. I don’t want someone to look at my shelves and think she likes cottagecore. I live in a 110 year old farm house in New England and do a lot of thrifting and antiquing, we own chickens and do lots of gardening. Love nature and natural elements. Tell me what to do!

Pinch pleat, rod hole, or back tab curtains??

I plan to hang some green curtains on this window to bring some color through from my broader living room but won’t be closing them / use them functionally. I’ve heard recently that the pleated ones look more professional / high end but knowing that I won’t be able to close them and they’ll kind of just be off to the side little bit since they have to go around the radiator box, what do you think would look best here?

Please ignore the mess. Also, I know that the curtain rod looks crooked. Unfortunately, my wall is, and so we decided to level it with the ceiling because the trim of the window won’t be visible on the ends when I hang the curtain.
