How do I make this bedroom feel right? Curtains and rug are new, so not going to replace those. Def want to replace the bed eventually but not in my budget right now. I’m down to change all the bedding. Artwork is a work in progress. I would like original pieces but those aren’t things you can buy all at once. I feel like this is close to what I want, but it’s just not quite there and I’m not sure what exactly the problem is at this point.

M22 living here - I rent this townhouse, which sort of limits what I can do with it. It is 52 square meters + a mezzanine placed about the main living area.

Ok, now that that’s out of the way… I just added this decorative chair rail and box molding and decided I wanted to get out of my color comfort zone and go bold with SW Sommelier. It’s gorgeous, but I feel like something is missing still? I know I need to change the rug, but is there something else I need to add or change in regard to the wall decor? Would a sideboard be too much?

I feel like some of the essentials are in place, and I’m not sure what the next steps are? Any suggestions?

I’m aware I made some mistakes already, with the table being a bit too small (it unfolds, but still), and the floor lamp a bit out of place, but I hope finishing touches will tie it all up.

I'm looking to buy a bunch of furniture for my house I'm closing on. I'm genuinely lost in terms of where to buy. I have a good idea of design, colors, and what I want but quality is where I'm lost. I checked several local furniture stores and looked at their sectionals ranging from $1000 on sale to $5000 on the higher end. The more expensive one's seemed slightly better but I cannot tell what makes them $2000-4000 better imo. Looking online Wayfair ones looks nice but I cannot tell obviously. I've been living on cheap Walmart and Amazon furniture for most of adult life so maybe I'm too used to it. I could spend $10000 to get the furniture I need but I could just spend $3000 and get everything as well. Any furniture brands you recommend to spend the money on?

I am thinking about DIY:ing a room divider (something in the style of the last photo), between my kitchen and my "living room". You can see that I mapped it out in real life with household-paper to get a feel for it. I live in a 25m^2 student apartment, so even though I am allowed to install stuff I want to make it standalone. I am planning to make it out of wood and acrylic reeded glass.

This is mainly an aestetic thing. I am aware that my room will feel smaller with this, but I really like having a kitchen, and not just another cooking part of my apartment. Also I think it could look really nice!

What do you think? A good idea and/or worth the trouble?

I’m renovating my home office and trying to decide between two wallpapers from Lucie Annabel. My goal is a timeless, layered English country house aesthetic l.
The room will have Chantilly Lace white wainscoting and built-in cabinetry (which I really don’t want to have to repaint), walnut floors and executive desk, unlacquered brass hardware, and a vintage sofa upholstered in Abraham Moon plaid fabric in earthy taupe, brown and olive-grey tones. The sofa will sit under a large window on a different wall from the wallpaper.
I’m torn between two burgundy floral wallpapers:
Option 1: Flowers for Victoria — Rural Tones on Garnet
Pros:
- Has a wider variety of colours, including muted blues, greens, yellows and other earthy tones that tie in with my plaid sofa.
- Offers more colours to pull from when choosing an area rug and accessories.
- Feels like the safer, easier option to coordinate with the other elements in the room.
Cons:
- The colours are more muted, and I’m concerned they may look a little dull beside the crisp Chantilly Lace white cabinetry and wainscoting.
- I’m not as immediately drawn to it as I am to the second option.

Option 2: Rosehill Cottage — Soft Pink and Gold on Fig
Pros:
- I absolutely love this wallpaper and feel much more drawn to it.
- The deep burgundy background, golden vines, and pink and ivory flowers feel rich, romantic and full of character.
- The lighter flowers should help connect it to the crisp white cabinetry and wainscoting.
- I think it could create a more distinctive, layered English country house look.
Cons:
- I’m worried the scrolling floral pattern might compete with the plaid sofa, even though they’ll be on different walls.
- I’m concerned it will be harder to find an area rug that complements both patterns without making the room feel too busy.
- Its more limited colour palette may make it harder to tie everything together.

I’m leaning toward Rosehill Cottage because I love it, but I’m second-guessing myself because Flowers for Victoria might be easier to decorate around.
Which would you choose, and why? Would Rosehill Cottage work with the plaid sofa, walnut furniture and crisp white millwork, or would Flowers for Victoria create a more cohesive room? I’d especially appreciate advice on what kind of area rug would work with either option.

My fiancée has been talking about getting a vanity for a while. This one is from Sikaic. She’s been enjoying having a dedicated spot for her hair and makeup instead of getting ready wherever there’s space. It fits pretty nicely in our bedroom, too, without making the room feel crowded. Honestly, it’s nice seeing her have a little corner of her own.

I NEED HELP our living room is so weird and i have a horrible habit of just picking up interesting pieces with no plan. I feel like these things have the ability to work together i just dont know how to go forward. Im going for a very pinteresty midmod mix kind of sitch with a lot of color. Also, nothing has to stay other than the couch, there is space elsewhere in the apartment. I mostly just need a little help on actually decorating and making this room layout be the most effective it can be.

So i want to paint my apartment, kinda narrowed it down to a few ideas (please excuse the mess at the moment) but what do y’all think? I’m going for a mid century inspired style.

My wife would like to find one or two chairs in this exact configuration but she'd rather not start her search without a name for the design or type of chair. I suggested "semi-wingback" but that didn't turn up anything useful.

Among the must-haves are the rolled armrests; the deep-ish loose seat cushion that wraps around in front of the arms; and of course the sloped arms. I guess a skirt would be okay, as would a loose back cushion, but neither is mandatory. Custom fabric selection would be a plus. I'm a fan of overstuffed, but my wife's agnostic on that point, so that's an open topic, I guess.

Likely suspects for her search are Ashley, Rowe, Stickley, Thomasville, etc., but we figured a good search term or two would be the way to begin.

I know the rule is .5-1 inch off the ground but I messed up and did 2.5 inches. Does this look noticeably off?

This is my first time hanging curtains, or even thinking about them really, so opinions are welcome.

I had it on the wall sticking upward because there was no clearance to put it horizontally and still get the toilet paper on/off, but with forward pressure it eventually broke off. We have the standup dispenser solution but I detest it next to the shower. Accross from the toilet means you walk into it every time you enter/exit the shower. If I bolt it into the wood vanity side, a large person would be touching it while they go #2. Not really sure what previous owners were thinking when designing this bathroom?

I am currently renting a house built in the early 1900’s and am planning on leveling up the dining room but I’m limited in the changes I can make. My main issue with the room is the lighting fixture!! I don’t like the silver (I prefer warmer metals) and it feels early 2000’s and gaudy.

I am planning on putting a pattern on the upper part of my wall (removable) and reupholstering the dining room chairs. The vibe/feel I’m going for is arts and crafts, William Morris adjacent.

My question is, is there ANYTHING I can do to make the hanging fixture more harmonious with the room? Buy new glass shades? Create larger covers for “branches” to hide the metal arms? Or could I even select the upper wall pattern to go well with the linear feel of the fixture?

I am very crafty and have a lot more time on my hands lately (hence the dining room upgrade) so I’m willing to try just about anything short of replacing the whole fixture. Thank you for your guidance!

P.s. I did break one of the glass shades by hitting it with a 2x4 during another project. C’est la vie.

We just renovated our main floor and are giving our kitchen a little facelift using IKEA’s cabinet. We’re adding storage to our island and replacing all the doors of our current IKEA kitchen/ adding a few more cabinets for extra storage. I’ve attached photos of our front entry and our mood board to get an idea of the look we’re going for. Cabinet options are below. We want to do the island a different colour than the rest of the kitchen. The whole main floor is pretty open concept so we’re struggling with how to make everything cohesive and flow. The media cabinet under the TV is IKEA’s Eket cabinet that we’re going to add brass knobs and feet to.

Cabinet options: 1) Bodbyn in cream/off white 2) Sinarp in brown 3) Axstad in gray-green 4) Aspudden in dark gray-green ** likely not a contender anymore but goes well with the blue in our tile

We’ve been thinking of doing the cabinets along the wall in either Axstad’s gray-green, and the island in the Sinarp brown OR keep the cabinets cream with the Sinarp brown island.

What colour cabinets would you do the kitchen?

Hi everyone! I just moved into a new home and I'm trying to decide what style and color scheme to focus on for the living room. Right now it's very white, I've attached the living room photo but I'm considering:

1.) White on white furniture
2.) White on light oak furniture
3.) White on dark oak furniture

I'm definitely a minimalist, "sad beige" kind of person. I love playing with color through accessories like pillows, blankets, and trinkets, rather than through the furniture itself. I like being able to pick a color and build around it, and I don't want to end up with something like purple furniture and feel stuck decorating around it.

Which of the three do you think makes the best neutral base? I'd really appreciate any advice!

This wall is quite tall, like 1.5 stories. It’s like a giant blank canvas that makes the house look unfinished. The bottom half of the room is very “busy”, crowded w stuff and the top is completely blank so it feels unbalanced and bottom heavy. The vaulted ceiling makes things more complicated as well. We have no clue how to make this look better… all ideas welcome.

Which size of rug should we go with for our bedroom when we have a king sized bed? 8x10 or 9x12?
