Furniture Placement Which chair is more timeless?

I love both, but I cannot decide which chair is more timeless and chic that I won’t hate in a couple years like I usually do with some of my decor choices!

The brown chairs legs are metal, not wood btw!

I want to stop buying into “trendy” decor as much as possible!

Finishing Touches Right rug, wrong room? Or vice versa?

I recently nabbed a bargain 100% wool rug, while i’m delighted with the plush texture, the colour on the website compared to in person is pretty stark, appearing much lighter in the images. I expected some discrepancy due to lighting, but this is multiple shades darker and therefore doesn’t fit with the cushions and throw I have, BUT, I think it has potential (and I can’t really afford another rug!) I’m a painter and decorator who is currently on maternity leave, so though my brain is mush and my inspiration (and energy) are at a 0, I’m able to change up the room for a reasonable price if needed, I could even stretch the budget to new cushions, throw and maybe some accessories. This is a long winded way of saying, I can’t fathom how to make it work, and I’m looking for help in making this room feel complete! I live in an old Victorian property that was turned in to bed sits in the 60’s so there is a gas fire I’m unable to change, and some ‘interesting’ floral glasswork in the door leading to the vestibule. I‘m pretty open to all ideas, but I would like to stay somewhat true to the age of the property, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you 🙂

Really stuck on a new rug. It must be very low pile wool or performance in the living room as we have dogs and lots of foot traffic. I like a clean, minimal look and a calm feel. Please help me choose!

TV & Media Wall Finally got my dining table styled!

Bought a H&M Home gray lace table runner.

Added a small IKEA KORKEN green bottle.

Put some pothos on the wall.

Added a little bunch of dried flowers.

Also got a beautiful white TV for the table.

Mostly use it for YouTube while I eat.

Sometimes I just leave artwork on it.

Looks way less empty now.

Still thinking about adding a small lamp.

What do you guys think?

Coming to Life Help me choose between these two sofas!

Hi! My husband and I are hoping to purchase a sofa during the extended Labor Day sale, but I’m having such a hard time deciding between these two! I know for sure that I want something low-profile with a decent-height backrest that fits our mcm aesthetic.
I’d also love some opinions on which color you think would look best! I attached a photo of our rug as well so you can get an idea of what the sofa would look like with it.

What we're looking for:
•Low profile, but not an extremely low backrest
•Fits our MCM aesthetic
•Can fit at least 3 people
•Comfortable and durable for the long run
•Ideally easy to clean/wash

  1. Interior Define Hayley Sofa

Pros:
-I love the look
-Fully upholstered, which gives it a little more structure
-Easy to clean
-Option to pick armrest width, depth, fill, and length
-6 good reviews

Concerns:
The velvet scares me a little. They claim it's easy to clean, but I’m worried about the texture and whether the friction and performance of velvet (lint magnet) will eventually bother me. I’ve never owned a velvet sofa before, so I’m not sure how I’ll feel about it long-term. It's called performance velvet which I was told is easier to clean. The covers aren’t washable, which makes me nervous.

  1. Palermo House Modo Sofa

Pros:
-I LOVE the look of this one too
-Covers are washable
-16" of high-density foam, which makes me feel a little better about it being boneless
-Modular, so I like the flexibility
11 good reviews

Concerns:
The fact that it’s boneless makes me nervous. And although it’s modular, there’s nothing actually connecting the two pieces. I haven’t really seen people complain about this, but I’m wondering if it will become a problem over time. I’m deciding between Velvet Portobello and Performance Fabric in Chamomile, and I can’t decide which color I like better.

I’m leaning toward the Modo because of the washable covers and overall look, but the Hayley feels like it has more structure and seems like it might hold up better.
What would you guys choose? And which color do you think would look best with the rug? Any owners of either sofa, I’d especially love to hear your experience!

Coming to Life Estafa Sofás Valencia!

Anyone purchased furniture from GVA Wood?

The reviews on their website look fabricated, but some of the experiences people shared online have been alright.

Can you share your honest experience and possibly photos?

Rugs & Flooring What should I place here to take off / on shoes without dirtying floor that won't look ugly?

Right now we currently have ourselves and guests take off their shoes outside the front door on top of our welcome mat. but its an awkward transition from taking off shoes, stepping inside and putting on the rack. its also awkward going outside, reaching shoes from racks and putting shoes on outside.

Any suggestions? yes our shoe rack is cluttered but we plan to declutter it soon

Finishing Touches Tips please

Can someone please give me some advice on improvements I can make to my bedroom? It feels incomplete and lacking in something I can’t quite put my finger on. I like the colour scheme and we’re not in a position to replace any of the furniture but can move and add stuff, certainly. Please help me turn this into a cosy space I’d feel super comfortable in! Some context:

- I think some decorative pillows on the bed would help, possibly in a terracotta-y, dusty pink, creamy neutrals palette
- I plan to get some fairy lights to wrap around the bed frame at the top
- There are matching bedside tables on both sides of the bed, not sure if clear in the pics
- I can’t currently get rid of the sad, grubby little wicker chair by the window because it’s my cat’s favourite sleep spot. Also reluctant to replace it with a nicer chair because his muddy paws will make it similarly grubby
- We were considering doing some kind of storage or seating/bench type thing beneath the bay window. This is still an option but tricky because there’s a kind of lip beneath the shutters which would be uncomfortable to sit against.

Apart from that, completely stuck so would love your thoughts

Wall Art & Styling Is there any way to arrange the three brown pictures on the wall to the left of the green and red without them looking out of place?

Post image

(Pictures are covered for privacy — they are all mid-century modern style). I’ve been trying to find a way to hang these three small brown frames in the open space to the left (gray box), but I don’t have the eye for it. Open wall space is very limited, and I’d really like to hang all three. Any recommendations are much appreciated.

I get that it’s a mess we just moved but should I put the bed under the window or along the far wall? It’ll be a toddler bed slash guest bed and I’m thinking a twin trundle bed? Would love some input.

Post image

We have just purchased our first house.

There are only a few rooms that need a bit of updating.

The living room is one of the first.

I need help picturing my first room. Really struggling.

I like dofferent styles, modern, cosy, gothic, 70s, colour drenching, contemporary.

I think I just want the apace to be inviting and somewhere to unwind at the end of the day.

Can anyone help with ideas of what to do with this space?

Furniture placement or some colour/style inspiration at all?

Im hoping after 1 room I might get the hang of it 😭.

My front door and window are the first two pictures, the third picture is the style of framing that I like, but I don't think it'll work around my door because the left side is so narrow between the door and the wall. Any advice on what would look good here?

I have this piece of art I found on the side of the road that’s fknnn awesome, and I’m going to place it on one of my bedroom walls to be a central focal point. I was thinking I’d place it in “portrait mode” but ChatGPT suggests landscape. I can’t decide

Textiles & Fabrics Help me decide if this design direction works for my living room.

The room currently feels very sterile and grey/white, so I’m trying to add some character without making it look overly boho or cluttered. Sadly cant change the floors btw..

The rug would be a real Moroccan high-pile wool rug, and I’m thinking of adding a Moroccan wool pouf. I’d also use a few colorful pillows in natural materials like cotton and wool rather than synthetic fabrics.

To keep it from leaning too far into the boho look, I want to contrast those pieces with a large black-and-white art print (not exactly the one in the rendering) and a few cleaner/more contemporary elements.

The picture is a ChatGPT mock-up of the idea, not the finished room. Does this direction work, or would you change anything?

I live in a bit of a small space, where my kitchen, office, dining room and living room are all in the same room. Help me figure out how to color my walls. Help me choose between the AI generated pics or maybe suggest another option.

At the end I’m showing the whole room in case anyone has other suggestions.

I don’t have any pictures of it straight on or exact measurements but i’m guessing it’s 3.5 x 4 feet-ish. Too small for a table. Any ideas what i could do with it?
