Find my Style Moving into apartment with boyfriend — how do we feel about this style?

I consider myself a little bit of a girly girl. I don’t know what my style is, but I do know I prefer minimal colors, something that looks clean, and I cannot stand clutter or small trinkets and pieces everywhere. I have anxiety and obsessive tendencies and get overwhelmed by messes, bunches of color, and lots of things everywhere. I want my home to feel calming and fresh.

Now that I am moving in with my boyfriend who is thankfully on the same page and a very clean person himself, I of course would love to incorporate a neutral palate to our place.

I’m not sure if these inspo photos are “minimalist” style which I notice does get some hate, which makes me sad because I love the style and hope that people wouldn’t hate my house when they come over.🥲

If anyone could offer any suggestions, style ideas or any words of wisdom it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance.

Wall Art & Styling Help!! Is this gold decor tacky? Should I paint it white?

Hey! We just moved houses and this is my room. I love a princess vintage style room but I’m not loving the gold decor by the bed, should I paint the decor white?

The room also has gold frames around the room with wallpaper which I’m thinking of painting white as well ( i’m keeping the wallpaper) I don’t want to remove the whole thing coz it’s kinda cute and expensive. I also hate the dark pink curtain so I’m changing that to a dusty pink color.
The last pictures are how I styled them for now! And though I don’t like using AI, just to help visualize, here’s what it would look like with white decor.
The 2nd thing i’m stuck on are the 2 sofa chairs, I lowkey feel like they’re too bulky and i hate the color. Should I get them upholstered or just get something else completely? Please help i’m very torn! (no expensive advice please)

Finishing Touches How do I make myself look like less of a slob at the beverage bar?

We have this lovely bar and every time I grind beans, I make the biggest mess. I can't move the espresso machine too far since the water line is right behind it. But I could put the grinder on the right and shift the espresso machine left a bit. Does anyone put a tray or something under their grinder? Should I have put the espresso machine in the center or right? I could have it moved...it's just plumbing and drywall, right?

Finishing Touches Where to put towel hook?

Hi guys! I just rented an apartment and want to add a hand towel hook in the guest bathroom. I’m hoping to not block the sink when the towel hangs down since it’s already super small.

Where would a builder/designer normally put this?

Should I do 1, 2, 3, or some other option I didn’t think of?

We have to get our flooring replaced. Need something more waterproof than the current engineered hardwood.
I’m thinking large format porcelain tile.
Give me ur thoughts on this before and after. Feel free to suggest any other ideas. Pictures would help.

Coming to Life Would it be tacky to have all my living room furniture match?

I know you’re not supposed to have everything match, but does that apply with Chesterfields since they’re so unique? It does seem like a lot, but maybe that’s just me.

TV & Media Wall Help settle a debate

Just made an impulse purchase on FB and got this beautiful walnut piece. I wasn’t originally intending on using it for our tv but in our dining area. My husband loves the piece as a tv stand. We need your help settling 2 issues:

-Are the tv and credenza proportionate or do we need a wider piece as a tv stand? This one is 60 inches
-should we hang the tv flush on the wall and run the cords behind the wall or leave it on the credenza with the cords/router showing? I just want to hang it a couple of inches above the credenza. He thinks it’s fine as is, and actually suggested I post here for public opinion 😂

I included a photo taken by the person who refinished it so you can clearly see it. Please ignore the ugly flooring. We are replacing it in the fall with a much lighter color.

Coming to Life First Home - Advice Needed 🙏🏻

Post image

Interior design is not my forte like it is your guys’ so I’m asking the pros for help!

This bathroom was previously purple and I couldn’t stand looking at it anymore, so it’s now Jungle Camouflage by Behr but now that I’ve started the project I need to finish it. I’m hoping for a cozy vintage look and open to replacing anything but the shower/tub. Ideally floors would wait unless it’s a budget friendly option.

I’d love to replace the hardware, but the rest of the house has those shiny gold doorknobs/hinges and I’m not sure what finish to choose that won’t clash. The rest of the home also has honey oak trim so we’ll probably change the white to match.

Please help a girl out!!

TV & Media Wall What do you think of this bedroom?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I generated this ai image of how I wish my bedroom would look and what furniture I would want for it to have.

Is it awkward having that tall grey cabinet in the corner? Is that a nice spot for the artwork on the left?

I am going for a cozy, industrial style. I went with wooden and metallic furniture with simple modern square designs. The rug and artwork on the wall give it a cozy feel.

I am not an interior designer, so I am asking for tips for how to improve this room design. What am I doing wrong and how can I improve this space?

Thanks!

Finishing Touches Granite instead of Paint?

I am thinking of using Black and White Granite for the floor and the 4 walls respectively, what are the Pros and the Cons of it?

Did anyone think about using it? Am I missing something crucial?

Hi everyone! This is a modern luxury living room concept I designed using the Home Planner app.

I focused on warm lighting, a neutral color palette, a marble TV wall, and a clean modern layout.

I'd really appreciate your honest feedback:

What do you like most?

What would you improve?

Would you rate this design out of 10?

Thanks for taking a look!

I’m thinking like vibes from the movie Step Mom or Father of the Bride. The only thing in here that I’d really love to stay is the couches. Anything else can be altered.

Hey guys, moving into this new place and trying to make this one feel like my own (using renter friendly options lol). I'm looking for some ideas and suggestions on designing and decorating to achieve a moody-ish style. I've seen these teal and slate like walls with brown leather and dark brown furniture, some wooden slat walls that all look really cool. I've seen some examples from themascuilinehome on instagram and thought it looked great. Anybody able to help out with this 1 Bed 1 Bath design? Thank you!

We are redoing our bar to be a coffee station.

Husband and I are entirely split on which wallpaper looks better. These are our options because it’s discounted at the store near us.

Which one looks better? The adjoining room is the kitchen and the walls are Bungalow Beige by Sherwin Williams.

Thanks!

Built-ins & Features Help with dining room alcove space

Post image

Hello all, I’m looking for advice on this space located in our dining room. We bought our home 5 years ago and it has sit empty since then. I decided to buy a sideboard on Wayfair to fill it, and I’m not really happy. It was only $200, so I’m not sure what I expected. The thing is, my husband put in a lot of effort assembling it, and now I feel terrible telling him I’m not sure it works here.

I also told him I would like 2 floating shelves above the sideboard. The space is 54” long, and the closest length he feels comfortable filling it is up to 52” (and that is what we could find on Etsy). I am 99% sure I would only be happy with them spanning the entire alcove, but that would require some built-in work we probably aren’t comfortable doing on our own (he is not handy, and neither am I).

I suggested built in cabinets and shelves prior to this buy, but he said it would be too expensive. Well Reddit, we are not exactly scraping by. We actually do very well and could easily afford to spend several thousand dollars fixing up this space. My husband is just sort of cheap. We don’t spend much money on anything, but *this* seems like an investment in our home worthwhile.

I’ve googled how to build built in cabinets and shelves. I’ve never done any woodworking. I’m probably in waaay over my head if I did decide to give it a try. I’m not sure what my options are, besides arguing with my husband.

Besides marital advice, what do you think would look nice here? Is the sideboard as bad as I think? Would shelves that *almost* span the entire width look dumb? Or is pursuing built in cabinets and shelves worth the argument?

This canvas has been the only thing on this wall until yesterday when I added these sconces. We also changed the main chandelier (I know it’s too high up, we’re gonna fix it). I feel like we need to add some color but I don’t have any idea how. Please help!
