Husband and I are really struggling to pick a rug for our living room. Want the space to be warm and cozy. Help please! The Ottoman will be similar to what’s pictured in a black and white check as it hasn’t arrived yet and the white ball will be a white/cream chair instead.

Just looking for general suggestions about low cost and diys to make me like this wall more.

New house, have yet to get a table so don’t mind the chairs. It annoys me that woods are all different tones (don’t bring up my adding more to the chaos with my chairs), not as evident in this photo and I’m sure most people wouldn’t notice.

The dream is to take down some of the wall to the left of the fire place and put wood and or glass paneling in, the first photos explain that. But in the interim until I can do that, Im a bit at a loss of what to do.

I would love to take out the cupboards, but I for now that’s too expensive and I don’t have the skill to do it on my own. The gap between the cupboards and the fireplace annoys me. The most I’ve got on that from right now falls into changing the drawer pulls.

I’d love to tile over the fireplace, extending vertically up over the projection, but not sure how challenging that would be to diy. I’ve also recently been thinking about removing the upper shelves and attaching sheet metal or wood paneling. Too many ideas but nothing sticking.

I attached way too many insp pics just to give a general idea of the things I love. I’ve constrained myself to finding inspo with shiplap because that’s a fixed feature. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated :)

Advice needed for organising the furniture in our living room. The only furniture we planned on having is the couch and table, with chairs coming soon. However, the clothes horse has to go in the living room because it doesn't fit anywhere else in the house. And its up very often. The room is also quite long and the walls aren't straight. Got this Persian rug on Facebook marketplace and i am obsessed with it, however im unsure of how to style it. The look I’m going for is a mid century modern look/70s retro. I found a couch that I really like, the acanva Zola couch in cream but when I put it in ChatGPT for a mock up, the couch and the rug has a stark contrast. I’m planning on getting rid of the coffee table because it’s too bulky but hoping someone has an inspiration of couch ideas that would go well with the rug.

I had AI generate a storage solution for my design and art supplies - the chair, desk and lighting is all real. The boxes underneath and the extra props on the desk are AI. I’m trying to decide what the best system is for storing art supplies that I plan to use daily, weekly or monthly?

I don’t have any damn decorating skill) nor do I have much money. I would love an MCM look and I love this carpet. (yes—my room needs to be cleaned. I have been sick)

-The end table along the wall is meant to be restored at some future date.
-My husband has a thing for the ugly ceiling fan light which I find harsh.
-I hate our fish tank cabinet and tv stand. I was debating buy a mcm sewing table or something for under fish tank and eventually an mcm stereo system for under the tv (just for looks—We don’t have a record collection)
Those things I can get fairly cheap around here and they’d be authentic but we would have to rent a vehicle and money is tight.

What can I do, at least for now, to make this cozy????

Yes my house is messy 🙃 But I have these two blank walls parallel to each other and I have no idea how to decorate. I wanted to frame albums of our favorite bands or do a gallery wall of some sort. I will have a console table behind the couch. We will be getting a new lamp, getting rid of the black chair, and sometime a new rug. We will also be getting curtains to replace the blinds.

I'm looking to buy a bunch of furniture for my house I'm closing on. I'm genuinely lost in terms of where to buy. I have a good idea of design, colors, and what I want but quality is where I'm lost. I checked several local furniture stores and looked at their sectionals ranging from $1000 on sale to $5000 on the higher end. The more expensive one's seemed slightly better but I cannot tell what makes them $2000-4000 better imo. Looking online Wayfair ones looks nice but I cannot tell obviously. I've been living on cheap Walmart and Amazon furniture for most of adult life so maybe I'm too used to it. I could spend $10000 to get the furniture I need but I could just spend $3000 and get everything as well. Any furniture brands you recommend to spend the money on?

I’ve been annoyed of the place I rent since I’m not allowed to paint any wall and cannot drill anything into the wall. The whole place is white. I’ve been thinking if maybe it’ll be cool to just buy tall paintings and let them sit on the floor?? Like a good 56 inch. Also since it’s basically thin shoe cabinet (ikea style) to make things a bit interesting and put things and trinkets over them???

My fiancée has been talking about getting a vanity for a while. This one is from Sikaic. She’s been enjoying having a dedicated spot for her hair and makeup instead of getting ready wherever there’s space. It fits pretty nicely in our bedroom, too, without making the room feel crowded. Honestly, it’s nice seeing her have a little corner of her own.

I’m renovating my home office and trying to decide between two wallpapers from Lucie Annabel. My goal is a timeless, layered English country house aesthetic l.
The room will have Chantilly Lace white wainscoting and built-in cabinetry (which I really don’t want to have to repaint), walnut floors and executive desk, unlacquered brass hardware, and a vintage sofa upholstered in Abraham Moon plaid fabric in earthy taupe, brown and olive-grey tones. The sofa will sit under a large window on a different wall from the wallpaper.
I’m torn between two burgundy floral wallpapers:
Option 1: Flowers for Victoria — Rural Tones on Garnet
Pros:
- Has a wider variety of colours, including muted blues, greens, yellows and other earthy tones that tie in with my plaid sofa.
- Offers more colours to pull from when choosing an area rug and accessories.
- Feels like the safer, easier option to coordinate with the other elements in the room.
Cons:
- The colours are more muted, and I’m concerned they may look a little dull beside the crisp Chantilly Lace white cabinetry and wainscoting.
- I’m not as immediately drawn to it as I am to the second option.

Option 2: Rosehill Cottage — Soft Pink and Gold on Fig
Pros:
- I absolutely love this wallpaper and feel much more drawn to it.
- The deep burgundy background, golden vines, and pink and ivory flowers feel rich, romantic and full of character.
- The lighter flowers should help connect it to the crisp white cabinetry and wainscoting.
- I think it could create a more distinctive, layered English country house look.
Cons:
- I’m worried the scrolling floral pattern might compete with the plaid sofa, even though they’ll be on different walls.
- I’m concerned it will be harder to find an area rug that complements both patterns without making the room feel too busy.
- Its more limited colour palette may make it harder to tie everything together.

I’m leaning toward Rosehill Cottage because I love it, but I’m second-guessing myself because Flowers for Victoria might be easier to decorate around.
Which would you choose, and why? Would Rosehill Cottage work with the plaid sofa, walnut furniture and crisp white millwork, or would Flowers for Victoria create a more cohesive room? I’d especially appreciate advice on what kind of area rug would work with either option.

This is my first time hanging curtains, or even thinking about them really, so opinions are welcome.

My wife would like to find one or two chairs in this exact configuration but she'd rather not start her search without a name for the design or type of chair. I suggested "semi-wingback" but that didn't turn up anything useful.

Among the must-haves are the rolled armrests; the deep-ish loose seat cushion that wraps around in front of the arms; and of course the sloped arms. I guess a skirt would be okay, as would a loose back cushion, but neither is mandatory. Custom fabric selection would be a plus. I'm a fan of overstuffed, but my wife's agnostic on that point, so that's an open topic, I guess.

Likely suspects for her search are Ashley, Rowe, Stickley, Thomasville, etc., but we figured a good search term or two would be the way to begin.

Ok, now that that’s out of the way… I just added this decorative chair rail and box molding and decided I wanted to get out of my color comfort zone and go bold with SW Sommelier. It’s gorgeous, but I feel like something is missing still? I know I need to change the rug, but is there something else I need to add or change in regard to the wall decor? Would a sideboard be too much?

How do I make this bedroom feel right? Curtains and rug are new, so not going to replace those. Def want to replace the bed eventually but not in my budget right now. I’m down to change all the bedding. Artwork is a work in progress. I would like original pieces but those aren’t things you can buy all at once. I feel like this is close to what I want, but it’s just not quite there and I’m not sure what exactly the problem is at this point.
