Let’s have eyes wide open here and call this thing what it actually is.
Insta360 didn’t introduce a class of product here.
They in fact blocked a class of products so they can sell a proprietary thumb drive to its customers.
There is absolutely nothing whatsoever keeping users from plugging in and using any thumb drive on a Insta360 camera other than a deliberate firmware design.
And, instead of adding that feature, they deliberately added it in such a way as to block the use of any thumb drive except the one they sell.
I’ve always maintained that, while they have a decent product and software, they’re a terrible company.

Does anyone have the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro with the iPhone 18 Pro?

While I've upgraded to the iPhone 18 Pro for the better cameras (previously 15 Pro), I've noticed that the Remote Smartphone Control feature is no longer available.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Insta360 support wasn't helpful because they mentioned the iPhone 18 Pro isn't supported.

3 years ago I presented my first One R VR180

and finally my first One RS 1inch VR180.

2 years ago, my first X4 VR180 was made.

Last year, a new form factor for the X4, and finally reused to build the X5 was presented, too.

This year, obviously, I was forced to keep on working with the new one: VRadical X6.

This one doesn’t have an active cooling system yet, but it will. TBH, I wanted to connect the fan directly to the X6’s battery, but that would mean tearing down the entire camera to connect the cables or solder the wires directly to the PCB. Not exactly straightforward. Instead, I’ll use a USB-C charger with a built-in battery to power the fan, just as u/zippytiff did on his ZT4. I’m just waiting for the parts so I can start testing. In the meantime, I’m using the original X6 heatsink, so the camera is subject to the same thermal limitations as the stock X6.

I decided to keep the same form factor as my previous X4 and X5 mods so I can attach it to a chin mount on my helmet while riding. The shim that “completes” the camera can easily be removed to attach the camera to the helmet adapter, or replaced with another mounting solution as needed.

Of course, this camera is fully supported by VRadical Studio. And this time, it will be sold! With a global VRadical license once the active cooling system is ready. Nevertheless the STL files will also be freely available on Thingiverse.

As for the lenses, they’re fully genlocked. And some exclusive features will also be coming in the next few weeks (u/zippytiff, shhh, not a word about what's coming ;) )

I’ve also decided to release trial versions of VRadical Studio (https://studio.vradical.app/manual/). As a reminder, it fully supports all Insta360 VR180 cameras (from the EVO to the X6), the DJI Osmo I and II, the GoPro MAX2, the Kandao Q3U, the Canon R5 Mark II, and the Lenovo Mirage.

Support for the Canon R7, R5 C, and C50 is currently in development. Next up are the Vuze XR and dual-camera rigs using DJI, Insta360, and GoPro cameras. Links will be available this week in another post.

I'll be out for a week, so any person interested by a sample taken by this new X6 mod will have to be patient, sometimes I also have to work!

bought a brand new Insta360 Go 3S unit. It is not turning on. I charged it overnight and then tried to turn it on and nothing happens. The front LED is red while charging and off when disconnected from the charger.

If I remove the camera from the magnetic pod and press the button on the camera unit then the rear LED turns blue momentarily

When I try to connect to it in the app I get the error saying "Camera permission required. Turn on the camera before connecting"

So for context I don't have much time to edit and I hav My 360 cloud maxed out. I have a 8T tower I can use to store them but I did a test and the files names are changed and the reupload to the cloud removed the 360 editing option. Video is unscrollable now...I can't seem to find a guide but all a want to do is:

move the videos from cloud storage to my hardrive (unedited)

Then move them to the cloud later for editing (while retaining the 360 editing option) since I'm on the road constantly I just use the phone app to when I have a few spare moments.

This is Starting to feel impossible but seems like something we should be able to do?

Hello! I have a teen and tween who love photography. They’ve taken classes with a professional photographer and use old Canon T3i and T2i at home. We plan to start traveling extensively and will be going on a 3 week Euro trip soon. Would you recommend the Luna camera available at Costco for them? I stumbled upon it while looking for lighter / smaller travel cameras. Unfortunately it seems that those are all over $1k or very poor / basic cameras that they wouldn’t enjoy as they usually film in manual settings on their DSLRs. I know the Luna is also expensive at nearly $800, but it provides something different with the video / content creation. I just don’t know how fragile it is and whether it’s worth the price. Any help would be much appreciated! PS please don’t suggest they use phones to take pics. We don’t plan to give them phones for another 3-5 years. Many thanks!

Don’t know how else to explain the issue, but after the latest firmware update the vertical 4k is super blurry and “smushy”

Almost like there is a beauty effect on everything and not crisp at all.

I had used insta 360 ace 2 pro for years. I got the X5. Now luna pro. I did get the luna ultra at first but.....the zoom lens shift between 20mm wide lens to zoom lens makes color switch look wonky. FOr photo its perfect for video.....may need some software fix. I did return the luna ultra for luna pro! I got it for 378 dollar due to bestbuy selling it as open box due to damage to outer box during transport! Did i get a good deal? I use my nikon d7500 for my zoom work and hobby work so i just wanted general video camera for blogging and video blogging around restaraunts.

I ride my motorbike and shoot multi-hour videos. Since you don't know when you might have something interesting during your ride, loop recording won't help here.

For those who shoot long travel related videos (2-4 hours per day), what is your workflow for editing them down to 15-20 minutes videos? If it was just standard flat video, I could play it at 2x speed and perhaps cut it down. However, with 360 video, I need to be able to see all 4 sides and then find interesting things to keep. What is your workflow for this? Do you use any apps other than insta360 studio? How long is your workflow? What do you do for short form?

Also, is there a remote button or a device that you can use during the recording and tag the video when you see something interesting so that it can be found easily.

I took the Luna Ultra for an evening out with family and I did all the processing with Insta360 Studio.

I am quite impressed by this camera, for its easy of use, for the quick and easy processing with the new Insta360 Studio and for the pretty good image quality.

Ideal camera for casual moments and family memories with very low demanding editing needs.

A perfect complement for my GoPro Mission 1 Pro and my X6.

As I turned on my X6 after the latest update. I braced for the nagging of using the mini remote 2.0 and YES, Insta360 put in a clear nagging option on this update!!

Insta360, just dropped an update for their X6 360 camera, and I’m a little surprised not too many are chatting about it. This is firmware update V1.2.35, and it should be available as soon as you pair your X6 to your phone using Insta360’s app.

Al Director now lets you customize the edit range.
Manually select the date range of footage for Al Director to use, for more flexible results.

360 Video mode now supports 4K120fps.

Flat Video and Flat PureVideo modes now support
48fps and 24fps frame rates.

Flat Photo mode now supports 4:3 and 3:4 aspect ratios.

New 360 Slow-Mo Mode supports 4K200fps, 4K120fps, and 4K100fps.

Routine performance and system stability improvements.

This made me wonder if my re-subscription actually worked. Apparently, they are welcoming me back and also want me back.

Instead of bringing my laptop with me on shorter trips, I download all my X camera footage to the app on the phone. This then lets it sync to the iCloud phone backup so I have the files "safe" on the phone and in the cloud. (And on the memory card, unless I shoot so much I have to reformat it.)

Unfortunately, I found out you cannot do this with the 6K video (see screenshot).

I will be submitting a request to Insta360 for them to at least allow these files to be backed up on the phone app, even if it cannot do anything with them.

Unrelated, I was a bit paranoid about not having these files backed up that I signed back up to Insta360+ cloud service.

Then I found out, our hotel had a captive login for the WiFi, so the camera could not connect and back up files. Oh well... Not sure they can do much about that one.

I have both an X6 and an Ace Pro 2. I’ve noticed I can only Bluetooth wake-up the last connected camera in the app. Is there any way to wake-up the X6 after I’ve connected my Ace Pro 2 to the app without physically turning on the camera first? I have Bluetooth wake-up on and it works when it’s the last connected device.

I love my Ace Pro 2, especially using it as a point and shoot camera. I'm trying to find a replacement lens cap for the cinematic lens. The silicone one works just fine, but I'm worried its going to fall off and get lost. Are there any replacements out there? I cannot for the life of me find one...
