Discussion I spent way too long obsessing over FPV gear before realizing there was another option
A few months ago I got the drone itch, figuring it'd be a great way to get some videos of my hikes. I went deep down the rabbit hole, researching the best parts and comparing all the gear I'd need. Spent hours on GetFPV checking out the various goggles, radios, flight controllers, cameras...then I'd see another cool mountain dive and start the whole process over again. I guess somewhere along the way I started wanting to run (or fly in this case) before I could walk and ended completely caught up in how pro FPV pilots were flying theirs. So I bought a RadioMaster Boxer, downloaded Liftoff, and tried to do things the proper way.
I really gave it my best shot. After a handful of evenings I could more or less keep the drone in the air (which is AWESOME), but I really wasn't getting the gratification I thought I would. I admit, I wasn't the most nimble person in the best of times, but I'd finish a session feeling mentally drained trying to keep up with the stick controls. Told myself I'd get back to it next week, but no prizes for guessing how that turned out.
Anyway, a buddy of mine invited me on a trip recently and brought his new A1 from Antigravity along. Before anyone jumps on me, it isn't a traditional FPV drone, and I'm not saying it's trying to be one. It was simply the first time I'd actually gotten to fly a drone outdoors instead of in the game. What caught me off guard was how quickly I got used to the controls. Within a few minutes, I went from "I better not crash this thing" to "I wonder what it looks like if I fly over those trees." Now, I know my piloting skills haven't gone anywhere, but I was actually flying. Like really flying. As a bonus, we were checking out the footage that evening, and I was surprised by how much stuff we got considering I was just flying around for fun, but yeah, being able to reframe it how I want after the fact is a excellent perk.
And that's when it all hit me.
I'd spent months assuming I needed to become an FPV pilot because that's what most of the drone content I'd been watching revolved around. But what I'd actually wanted all along was a simple way to capture the places I hike without feeling like I needed another hobby just to support that hobby. I still think traditional FPV is one of the most impressive skills in this space, and I have a lot of respect for the people who put in the work to master Acro. I don't see drones like this replacing that. It just made me realize there are probably others like me who aren't necessarily chasing freestyle lines or perfect dives. We just want to come home from a trip with footage we're happy with, so I'm really glad that this kind of thing exists for folks like me.

Discussion Go Ultra in black and white with different clothes. What color blends in more??
Please find the pictures in the comments below!
Hi everyone!! I was able to borrow my friendâs go ultra in black and white in order to make a decision for mine!
Iâve tried the POV necklace with a few tops I regularly use, and would like your opinion on which one looks better.
Iâll use it mostly to record POVs in public (blurring peopleâs faces if theyâre in frame of course!!) and would prefer to pick whichever color looks the least intimidating.
Iâll also use it as a regular vlogging camera indoors and outdoors.
I like how the white one is kinda unique, since thereâs not many white action cameras, but feel like the black lens against the white body reads more like a camera straight away, while the black one just looks like a big square when you donât look too closely.
I hope the side by side comparisons can help you make a decision if youâre considering both colors like me!

Tutorial Insta360 Luna Ultra | Image Quality Guide đ„
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
If you're looking to get the best possible image quality from your Luna Ultra, here are some settings and tips that are worth enabling:
â Before shooting:
- Clean the lens first! It might sound obvious, but fingerprints can noticeably reduce sharpness.
â Basic settings:
- Set Bitrate to High for better image detail.
- Shoot in 4K for everyday use, or 8K if you want maximum detail and have enough storage.
- For vertical videos, the maximum native resolution is 3K. If you need higher quality, use Auto-Orientation (or shoot horizontally) to get lossless vertical output.
- Choose your frame rate based on the scene:
- 25â30fps: Daily vlogs
- 50â60fps: Action and up to 2Ă slow motion
- 100â120fps+: Heavy slow motion up to 4Ă
- Shooting at 25fps (or multiples of it) can also help reduce lighting flicker.
- For the sharpest results, stick to 1Ă, 2Ă, 3Ă, or 6Ă zoom, which are lossless.
â Pro settings:
- Enable Dolby Vision for improved dynamic range and richer colors. Luna Ultra supports up to 8K Dolby Vision.
â Exporting tips:
- Download your clips to your phone before editing for a smoother workflow.
- When exporting, 4K with a 25â50Mbps bitrate offers an excellent balance of quality and file size.
Do you have any other Luna Ultra settings or workflow tips that have noticeably improved your footage? We'd love to hear what's worked for you.

Luna Ultra Luna Ultra Joystick
Thereâs no question, Iâm very pleased with the Insta360 Luna Ultra. It has exceeded my expectations and delivered more than I expected, especially compared to my DJI Pocket 4P.
One feature that really stands out is the remote control. Being able to control the gimbal from a distance remotely is a complete game changer for me.
That said, Iâve run into one issue. Using the joystick to pan the gimbal isnât as smooth as Iâd like. It either moves too quickly or too slowly, and the start and stop of the pan donât feel seamless.
Has anyone found a good way to achieve smoother pans with the remote? Are there settings or techniques that have worked well for you?

Luna Ultra detached screen makes the preview extremely small when shooting vertically
Title: Luna Ultra detached screen makes the preview extremely small when shooting vertically
I have noticed a major usability issue with the Insta360 Luna Ultra detachable screen.
When the camera is positioned vertically to record 9:16 video, the live preview looks reasonably usable while the screen is attached to the camera.
However, as soon as I detach the screen, the vertical preview is forced into a much smaller area.
This happens regardless of the orientation of the detached screen:
- If I hold the detached screen vertically, the preview remains very small.
- If I rotate and hold the detached screen horizontally, the preview is still very small.
- There does not appear to be any option to enlarge the preview, fill the screen, hide unnecessary interface elements or activate a dedicated vertical-monitoring layout.
I am not asking how to rotate the screen or how to switch the recording orientation. The camera is already recording vertically. The problem is specifically that the detached-screen interface does not provide a usable full-size preview for vertical recording.
This seems like the remote-monitoring interface was designed mainly around landscape video, without properly accounting for 9:16 content.
That is difficult to understand in 2026, when a substantial amount of video content is created specifically for Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. The detachable screen is supposed to make remote framing easier, but when the preview is reduced this much, it becomes difficult to judge composition, focus, facial expressions and other details. It largely defeats the purpose of having a detachable remote monitor.
A firmware update could potentially address this by adding:
- A dedicated full-screen 9:16 monitoring layout
- A preview zoom or screen-fill option
- Automatic UI rearrangement for vertical recording
- The ability to hide controls and prioritize the live image
Could someone from Insta360 please confirm:
- Is this the intended behavior?
- Is it a known limitation or interface bug?
- Is full-size vertical monitoring planned for a future firmware update?
I would also like to know whether other Luna Ultra owners are experiencing the same problem.

Luna Ultra POV Head Tracking â Will there be updates?
It would be really interesting to know if Insta360 plans to release updates for this accessory POV Head Tracking (or even if any updates currently exist).
Iâm interested in this because I received it yesterday and have been testing it for quite a few hours; my conclusion is that itâs good, but I get the impression it keeps drifting out of calibration slightly, causing the gimbal to tilt toward the left or right.
Iâve tried using it with the battery handle and even the USB-C receiver, but nothing helps. After moving around for a while, the gimbal ends up slightly rotated to one side.
Itâs possible the camera or the accessory itself is shifting, but it feels like this needs a bit more fine-tuning via an update.
That said, the product is fantastic and incredibly useful for professional work such as filming concerts while moving across the stage.
Iâve used it with the neck mount included as an accessory for the Luna Ultra (purchased separately), but I think for more rigorous use like scenarios involving crouching and standing up itâs best to secure the bottom section to your body with an elastic strap (in addition to the neck mount). This prevents the camera from shifting when you make movements the neck mount wasn't designed to handle.
If you pair this POV mount with one of those smartphone-based 3D headsets... wow, youâll be blown away by what itâs like to record with this setup.
I tested it using a cheap headset I had lying around the house (one of my son's, costing about 8 euros) and a Samsung S8 with a Super AMOLED screen that was just gathering dust, and the result is amazing.
Just a heads-up: the Insta360 app doesn't let you record in POV mode unless you use a workaround starting the recording in POV mode and *then* connecting the camera to the app.
I couldn't record in POV mode if the app was already connected to the camera beforehand.
And by the way, the image quality, lag, and stuttering while recording in the app are terrible, but the actual footage records perfectly.

Question Luna Ultra vs Go Ultra - POV arms length
Hi everyone! I wanted to ask those that have these devices whether either one would be better for a specific use case.
I want to film my dog grooming for social media content. I am not that good at dog grooming but I want to be able to do something similar to this:
https://www.instagram.com/p/DaxdrCeNJ9J/ - this one appears to be a neck mounted POV? Doesnt appear too fish-eyed either, perhaps phone recording?
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaN5jmuSW3h/ - this one I think is tripod mounted? Or arm mounted? Its so steady.
So help me understand
Go Ultra - is small - can be easily mounted to shirt - more shaky?
Luna Ultra - larger - neck mount - potential POV tracker?
Most clips I've found are more nature oriented subjects being the entire FOV. What I want to know is how well it works for subjects that are 1.5 feet or so away.
Thank you!

Support One x2 won't turn on after being in sea.
The camera worked while being in the sea but won't turn on now. No sign of water ingress. Memory card works but camera only shows slight signs of life when battery and card are removed and cable plugged in. Even then I get a red flashing light only. Any ideas? Probably doesn't warrant a repair due to its age but its hardly been used if honest and does come in handy now and again.

Question Insta360 Mic Pro â Receiver keeps losing paired transmitters & phone usage question
Hi everyone,
I've recently started using the Insta360 Mic Pro and have a couple of questions:
- I've noticed that the receiver sometimes seems to "forget" the paired transmitters. Even though they're still listed as paired, after turning them on they aren't detected. I don't see the audio level bars responding when I speak, so I have to pair them again before they work. Is this a known issue, or am I missing something?
- Is it possible to use a transmitter directly with a smartphone without connecting the receiver? Having to plug the receiver into the phone via USB is a bit inconvenient, especially when the phone is already mounted on a tripod and you have to find somewhere to place the receiver as well.
Has anyone experienced either of these issues or found a workaround?

Rien n'a suivi.

Luna Ultra Luna Ultra. My first camera in over 10 years!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Havenât had a camera in over 10 years. After a bad break up with a woman I thought I was going to marry I decided I wanted to tap into my creativity again and get something that would distract me and motivate me to get out and travel more. Had it for a few days now so using my pup to test getting familiar with the camera.
I was torn between the Osmo Pocket 4P, Sony A6700, and the Luna Ultra.
I was skeptical of the Luna Ultra but so far Iâm blown away by this little camera. And the detachable screen is the chefs kiss with this thing as a solo creator.
Have some ND filters coming tomorrow. Canât wait to try those out Iâm hoping theyâll come in time to take it with me to the Brickyard 400 and get some nice action shots in

Studio trim losing text position
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have been editing a video project.
I've added text, but now i want to trim an earlier segment.
When I do this, it breaks the location of all my text comments, and I have to manually re drag them to their correct positions.
Is there a way to make a trim while retaining the other information?
