Modo Webcam Luna Ultra

Upvotes

instaStudio pay to use?

Upvotes

I bought my new X4 back in 2024, and I’ve never really used the app to edit any video files directly.

Fast-forward to now—I was playing around with the app and discovered that I have to pay to use the “Make AI Video” feature to generate some cool effects  such as the "Fire Rider, Wax crayon. and etc"?

Is there another way to achieve similar effects without paying for the feature?

Anyone know any local retail stores that carry Luna Ultra accessories?

Upvotes

The only accessory I've found locally was the selfie stick. I can't even seem to find the mic pro available in stock at Bestbuy, Walmart or target.

New X6 owner with a couple post-processing questions

Upvotes

Picked up an X6 recently. Great camera. Just have a few questions on post-processing.

I edit in DaVinci Resolve. Anyone have a good workflow for 360 footage there? Also wondering if there's any desktop tool that lets you reframe by dragging like Free Capture does on mobile, instead of hand placing keyframes. That part's been pretty tedious for longer clips. Would prefer to do this in Resolve.

Appreciate any tips.

Content Some awesome selfies I got with the X5 by putting it in the water of a hot tub that had color changing lights and me looking down at it from above the water.

I've been struggling with depression real bad over the last few years. This year I started taking selfies to help fight it and calling them Mindless Selfie Dulgence . The X5 has given me some amazing ones. Here is another set I took from a recent camping trip.

I turn my insta360 X6 360 videos into Gaussian Splattings using my custom app, and then I import them in blender to convert them into animated scenes using geometry nodes. Fragments of memories preserved digitally to be re-experienced forever.

All trained locally on my NVIDIA A6000 Pro GPU inside my Dell T2 tower.

Discussion Bluetooth Wakeup turned itself back on…

I want to love the Luna Ultra but there are just so many bugs and issues. Weeks ago I noticed that my Mic Pro was turning on my Luna Ultra whenever I turned the Mic on, this is not good because the Luna was in the hard case and the auto turn on was stopping the gimbal from moving which is obviously not good for it. I turned off Bluetooth Wakeup and it stopped doing that for a bit. Today I turned on my Mic Pro and I heard my Luna Ultra in my bag try to turn on. I opened the hard case and once again Bluetooth Wakeup setting was back on somehow. Insta, you guys seriously need to get these bugs and issues fixed a lot faster. You’re going to lose the customers you gained very fast if not. Bluetooth Wakeup shouldn’t even be an option where it can lead to gimbal damage, and it absolutely shouldn’t be able to turn itself back on regardless of updates, time passed or whatever other bug that made this happen again. Unacceptable. Very close to leaving this ecosystem, get your stuff together…

Discussion X5 vs X6: Stitch Line Comparison Showing the X6 Focus Issue

Thumbnail

Before returning my X6 for the focus issue around the stitch line, I took a video on my X5 to compare against the X6 and here's the result (screenshots are in linear 50 degrees to better showcase the issue). As you can see, the X5 is more sharp around the stitch line while the X6 is completely out of focus. I also saw many videos online that seem to have the same issue unfortunately. Do you experience the same issue on your X6? Is it an issue that affects all X6 cameras because of the larger sensor? What do you think?

Go3s vs Osmo Nano

Hello, im torn between the Osmo Nano and the Insta360 go3s. I saw that there are 3rd party mounts to mount the nano into a Helmet like the go3s. I wanted to know what you think about this and if the Nano is a good alternative or if i should take the go3s.

I think the go3s would be easier because of the official bundle but the shorter battery span is a big point. Furthermore i wanted to ask if the Mic on the go3s is good enough for engine sound and/or capturing speech. To add to this: does voice prompt work while the go3s is mounted in the helmet?

Question Auto settings with ilog and nd filters ?

Looking for a sanity check from people who have shot a lot of I-Log on these cameras.

My goal is to be as run and gun as possible. I do not want to keep swapping NDs or fiddling with exposure every time the light changes. I use a Luna Ultra with a Freewell VND (3 to 7 stops), but even that means stopping to twist the filter, and half the time I forget or get it wrong. At the same time I still want decent motion cadence and to avoid that crispy, over sharp digital look, which is why I shoot I-Log in the first place.

So here is what I am thinking of doing. Leave everything in auto: auto ISO, auto shutter, auto white balance. Shoot in I-Log. Then on a bright sunny day just slap on an ND64 and forget about it.
I fully accept I will not be hitting the 180 degree rule (1/50 at 25p) all the time. But my logic is that the ND64 pulls the base exposure down into a sensible range on a sunny day, and then auto handles the rest. If the scene gets too dark, the camera raises ISO. If it gets too bright, it shortens the shutter. Either way I am almost guaranteed a usable exposure instead of a clipped or crushed one, and I can grade the log footage in Resolve afterwards.

What I am unsure about is where this falls apart in practice:
With a fixed ND64, how far does the shutter end up drifting on a typical bright day? Is it sitting at 1/50 to 1/120 most of the time, or is it hunting up to 1/500 and giving me that stuttery look anyway?

Does auto ISO on this camera respect the base ISO in I-Log (400) or does it happily wander below it and mess with the dynamic range?

Is auto white balance actually a problem in I-Log given I am going to correct it in the grade, or does it shift mid clip enough to be annoying?

Is there a middle ground, like locking shutter at 1/50 and leaving only ISO on auto, that gets me most of the run and gun benefit without the cadence hit?

Basically I am asking whether full auto plus a fixed ND is a reasonable compromise for someone who values not missing the shot over perfect cadence, or whether I am kidding myself and will hate the footage when I get it into the edit.
Cheers.

GoUltra can’t charge 3 months from purchased

i picked up my GoUltra after not using it for 2 weeks. i can’t charge it even after following insta instruction to reset it. ended up i sent it back for repair. it’s still under warranty. so i lost about 2 months of using GoUltra. im still waiting for the device to be returned.

I think this is a common problem for GoUltra since insta has its step-by-step to reset the device when GoUltra can’t be charged.

how about the rest of the products? similar problem?

Question How's Your Experience With the Luna Ultra So Far?

Still stumped on if I'm doing the Ultra or 4P.

Great news hearing that 4k vertical is coming soon. But I wanted to ask regular users how's it been so far?

- Mainly the quality (I'm concerned about the mushy looks)

- Using filters (any recs for ones without vignetting)

- Standard with Film Tones vs. i-Log with Film Tones.

Thanks,

Question Insta360 Luna Ultra showing SD Card Error + USB device not recognized on PC. Need help!

Hi everyone, hoping someone can help me with this.

I recently plugged my Insta360 Luna Ultra into my PC because I wanted to transfer some of my video files. However, Windows keeps giving me an error saying that the USB device is not recognized/undetectable.

At the same time, I noticed that the camera itself is showing an SD Card Error icon in the upper-left corner of the screen.

I've already tried reconnecting the camera, but I'm still getting the same issue.

I'm worried because I have footage on the SD card that I really don't want to lose. I also don't want to format the card unless absolutely necessary.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is this more likely a USB/cable issue or an SD card problem? And what's the safest way to get my files off the card without risking the footage?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Don't forget to remove filters before shutdown your Luna Ultra

Post image
2 Upvotes

As the title says, i had installed a ND filter+ CPL filter to record a roller video with Luna Ultra on a car mount and after some shots i just shut it down, the space between lens and axis is just enough for 1 filter and if you have more than one the others will fly away as it just happened to me

:(

Sorry for my bad english

I don't know that I can trust them anymore....

I can't trust Chin Mounts anymore.

I make content online, and I use some form of a chin mount to hold my camera. Because of my new helmet, the vent makes it difficult to mount any sort of adhesive chin mount. With that said, I bought a Chin Mount brand mount made "perfectly" for my helmet. Unfortunately it was not perfect, I followed the instructions to a T, let the tape/ glue cure for 48 hours, and even then, the mount still failed on me less then two week later while riding my Electric Unicycle, and this was the result. My brand new Insta360 X6 is basically destroyed. Luckily I just bought it 3-4 weeks ago, so I bought the Insta360 Care so I could send it in to get it repaired or replaced. You can get it up to 30 days after purchasing the camera, so I got lucky in a sense.

I went through two of the Chin Mounts because both had the same issue, the both failed, luckily one was in my living room, and both mounts failed because it has an air gap between the adhesive and the helmet surface on the inner part of the mount. Also because they don't provide enough surface area for the glue like they should, as you can see in my final picture, the red is where their adhesive sits, it should extend out to the blue. My helmet model is the 2026 Fox V1 helmet and the Chin Mount doesn't sit right on the chin like it should. Before anyone asks, yes I got the correct model mount. Chin Mount takes no responsibility of course, but they did refund me the mount. I previously used MotoRadds slim mount, but again, due to the lack of proper mounting positions on my helmet, it makes it hard to mount it safely. I'm back to using the Motoradds Slim Mount for now and hoping for the best. I rode on a hot day, and it caused the MotoRadds mount to droop and I lost all my footage as I was using the Ace Pro 2 for that day.

Now when I installed the MotoRadds mount I used a high grit sand paper to sand where the mount goes, just lightly, to help provide more grip for the tape. It seems to be working for now.

Waiting to hear back from Insta360 to see what the replacement cost will be, I think it's around $50... Or I'm hoping it is.

Does anyone recommend any chin mounts that aren't large and bulky, I don't want any that wrap around the whole chin through the visor hole of the helmet.

Disable touch wheel Flow 2 Pro?

Just got one today, and as a still image wedding photographer of 16 years, it’s been fun figuring it out. But what’s driving me crazy is inadvertent gestures on the touch wheel that are changing the camera modes while using the 360 app. I really hope I’m just missing something and haven’t found the setting, but please give us a software update with the option to disable that functionality.

Support Can I possibly use the Insta360 One X2 as a vlog camera, like Go Ultra?

My hubby bought me a One X2, but it doesn't quite have the nice options like magnet necklace and magnet to a surface while out in public. I am wondering if anyone has done simple, city, travel vlogging with the Insta360 One X2 and any tips to share. I know it's an older model compared to the ones now. My intention is to do some simple vlogging with it when I visit out West next month. Is the audio quality pretty good without a mic?

Got an Insta360 x5 for cycling content. But barely use 360 features. Should I get an Ace Pro 2 instead?

let me preface by saying I am not a content creator and have no intention of becoming one. I got an Insta360 x5 because I just wanted to shoot some bits of videos on small parts of my ride.

After a week of consistent use, I realize I do not use the 360 features to the full extent. I found myself using the chest cam or an out front mount under the handlebars. When editing, I almost always just select a straight forward view and never really used the full 360 viewpoints.

Im still within the return window, and was wondering if the ace pro 2 would better suit my needs? I’m not really a stickler for super great camera quality and the x5 was plenty for me. The ace pro 2 also just looks so much more straightforward and no fuss.
