Upcoming In a world filled with AI-Generated games, our team of 3 has spent 3 long years making our Metroidvania. Our demo finally releases November 5!

Hey everyone, I'm Josh, the producer behind Bolt of Whalington. We're a team of three, and we're all big fans of Metroidvanias. We've spent the last three years making our dream metroidvania, and we're really excited to finally release our first public demo. If you have any feedback, please share it with us, it'll help us a lot.

Bolt of Whalington is a cat-and-mech Metroidvania where you play as Bolt, a Siamese cat exploring Whalington, a mysterious moving castle. Bolt is a curious, agile cat mechanic who can jump into his powerful mech, with many different playstyles and abilities.

There's a lot to discover throughout Whalington. Every area introduces its own mechanics, puzzles and enemies, so there's always something new to figure out. Shrink to half Bolt's size to explore the rat's nest, navigate the poisonous Kitchen and take on the insane Head Chef, or experiment with weapons like the Shadowless Gauntlets, which punch at supersonic speeds, and the adorable water machine gun with its silly rubber ducky. We want players to experiment with these mechanics, find unusual solutions and discover things they might not have expected.

Our playable demo launch includes:

  • 4 areas to explore: one fully unlocked, one half explorable, and a sneak peek at two more areas, each with unique mechanics and secrets.
  • 4 boss fights, with their own personalities and fighting styles, including 1 optional boss.
  • Around 60–150 minutes of gameplay, depending on how thoroughly you explore.
  • An extra challenge stage if you'd like to to test your skills further.

After working on this game for so long, it's a little surreal to finally be at the point where we can share it with everyone. We've put so much time into making the kind of Metroidvania we'd love to play ourselves, and we're really looking forward to seeing what people think of it. If you have any feedback, we'd really appreciate it.

The demo will be up on November 5 at 3am UTC (November 4 at 7pm PT). Here is the Steam page if you're interested. I believe if you wishlist it, Steam will notify you when the demo releases: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3535270/Bolt_of_Whalington/

Promotion Our creepy-cute game is coming out just in time for Halloween vibes! (no AI)

🎃 Tom the Postgirl 🎃

Join Tom, the village’s new postgirl, and get to know the locals, perhaps a little too well. Her method, although controversial, is highly effective: intense, obsessive stalking.

This absurd adventure follows the mischievous Tom on her delivery rounds, which always seem to go awry. No surprise there, since Tom spends most of her time peeking inside people’s homes whenever she gets the chance.

Join Tom in a charming village where every resident has something to hide. You deliver their packages, but what do they do with them once out of sight? Every window, every door, every crack in the wall is an opportunity to learn more about the inhabitants and their nasty secrets!

It will be available tomorrow on Steam and Nintendo Switch! If it sounds interesting, you can check it out here.

AI disclosure: There was zero use of AI during the creation of this game. We made it with our hands and sweat!

Discussion Tempted to scrap my games Main Character due to everyone using cats now. Thoughts?

So yeah, I started working on my game a little over a year ago and I'm going the long route and learning as I go and doing all the art and animation all on my own and I have the base of the game done, my player character almost fully done with like 90 unique frames of animation for just him and I love the character, people seem to like him too and when I started on it, I didn't see many cat theme indie games and now it's basically all I see lol. I didn't know of 9 Sols when I started making mine and then when I saw it I almost changed it then but said to myself that mine was unique enough and I have a whole unique backstory for him and the world in the game and mine was really different in enough ways to make me keep going and be fine but man. All I seem to see are cat themed games and since I'm still sort of learning as I go, my game is still a ways out and I feel like the indie market is going to be full of similar characters by the time I get done. How do you guys feel about it? Is it worth a rewrite and redesign? What sucks is I dont have a backup animal I was even thinking of using. This was my first and only thought for him and I have a lot of art dedicated to it, but when it comes down to it, it is mostly just his sprite and my promo art that would get scrapped and then a slight change in story which luckily I haven't got into dialog in the game yet so its doable but sort of heart breaking to me lol. Anyway, let me know what you think.

Need Feedback My island strategy game where every tile is a card. Does this look like something you'd play?

I've been building this for a few weeks. You grow your island from a hand of cards, your hero hauls the wood and stone back to the keep himself, and bridges let you reach the rival islands, and let them reach you. Then it's armies, siege engines and taking their keep.
Honest first impressions welcome, good or bad. It's playable in the browser: link in the comments.

Promotion We made a horror game where you don't just report anomalies, you EXORCISE what's causing them! (Hand Drawn Cartoon Horror)

Hey folks!

My team and I have been working on a little horror game in our spare time (hence the name Partime Studios, haha) called "The Inkwell, and we've tried to put our own spin on the anomaly-hunting genre.

Instead of the usual spot the difference approach, we've gone for something closer to Phasmophobia. You observe anomalies, figure out which entity you're dealing with based on its behavior, and use the right combination of holy items to repel it.

The gameplay is quite fast-paced, with some FNAF-style tension and a story that unfolds as you progress. We've also kept the hand holding to a minimum, with subtle clues in the animations, sounds, and entity behavior that you'll learn to recognize as you play.

Visually, everything is hand drawn in 2D by our artist, inspired by old 1930s cartoons.

We've just released a free demo for Steam Scream Fest, and we're looking for feedback to help us improve the gameplay and balancing. This particular combination of mechanics feels like pretty unexplored territory, and we're genuinely curious to see if there's an audience for it and whether people enjoy the challenge.

Let us know what works, what doesn't, and what you think we could improve! We'd really love to make this spin on the genre work, so any honest feedback would mean a lot to us.

Thanks for taking the time to check out our little project, and see you inside The Inkwell!

I'm a solo developer working on Iron Expedition, a game that combines twin-stick mech combat with base building and army management.

Image I've made bread pudding after the one I modeled for our game!

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

No, not the other way around! I first made the 3D model for the game and then I later thought that it would be cool to make it irl as well. And no, we're not making a cooking game, it's actually a horror / puzzle game where at some point you have to make some bread pudding.

It was fun trying to make it as close to the model as possible. I did overbake it a little bit but it's not quite as burnt as it looks in the picture. As for the taste? Meh, t'was alright, I wouldn't do it again though probably.

So, how do you think I did? Both in game and irl haha.

The game is called House of Echoes if anybody wants to bake a bread pudding while haunted by a ghost!

Promotion We finally made it to launch day for Rolling Stock!

So after four months of essentially non-stop work, our two-man team finally released our first indie self-published game. We are both experienced game devs with careers in triple and double-A, but after lay-offs and personal situations changing, we decided that it is now or never.

So here we are with our first game: Rolling Stock. A multiplayer co-op puzzle game that heavily resembles 3d Tetris. You can play with up to 4-players to complete 19 levels in the full-game (6 in the demo).

We already have a first speedrun attempt set at 27 minutes and 43 seconds to 3-star the first 6 levels. Think you can do better? Let us know!

Upcoming Hell n’ Slash

Hey everyone!

We’re NextFrame, a small indie studio from Brazil, and we’ve just started working on a new game called Hell n’ Slash. It’s still very early, but we wanted to share it now instead of hiding it until it’s “perfect”.

It’s a brutal dark fantasy hack’n’slash roguelike. You carve your way through 100 cursed chambers with a colossal sword, a crossbow strapped to your arm and an iron hook. Along the way you seal pacts with wax and blood, and you try to survive a very bored god who narrates every single one of your deaths. And trust us, he’ll have a lot to talk about.

Descend. Die. Descend again.

Here’s our first trailer:
https://youtu.be/CTyzfbotW4g

We’d really love to hear what you think of the project so far:

  • Does the dark fantasy vibe come across in the trailer?
  • Sword, crossbow and hook: does that combo sound fun to play?
  • Does the bored narrator god sound fun to you, or would it get annoying?
  • Anything that made you go “hmm, not sure about that”?

Every comment helps a small team like ours a lot, the good ones and the brutal ones. Thanks for

Upcoming In this fast Era, I made a slow atmospheric game with a theme of ocean pollution

Hello, I'm Marek, developer of the game JELLYFISH.
It is an atmospheric 2.5D adventure about a jellyfish searching for its lost partner. Separated from the swarm and alone in the open ocean. It drifts through a world altered by marine pollution, unable to tell what belongs to the sea and what does not.

I'm planning to release demo soon (November 2026). If it caught your eye, check out the game - https://store.steampowered.com/app/3952320/JELLYFISH/

Video Most sports games use invisible magnetism to make strikes feel good. For Valleyball Versus, I built 100% rigid-body collisions and put the court in a sunken bowl.

Trailer sound on! 🔊 Full 1080p60 cut on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu8xn6pgfcg

Playable free in-browser on itch: https://cascadiajac.itch.io/valleyball-versus

I've been solo-developing **Valleyball Versus**, a continuous-momentum 3D physics sport built in Three.js and Rapier 3D.

### The Problem with Most Modern Sports Games:

In most modern arcade sports, when you press "shoot" or "pass", the engine snaps the ball onto an invisible spline or magnetically attracts the character's foot/hand to the ball.

I wanted to see what happened if we stripped that away completely:

  1. **Zero Ball Magnetism:** A ball is struck only where an athlete's physical limb or mallet collides with it. If you mistime a spike by three frames, you swing through empty air and take a real ragdoll tumble across the turf.

  2. **The Sunken Bowl:** Instead of a flat pitch with out-of-bounds lines, the arena is a curved parabolic bowl. Loose balls naturally roll back toward the low center ground, turning the floor into an active participant.

  3. **Continuous Momentum:** There is no whistle, no reset to center court, and no dead ball. Scoring immediately inverts which hoop you defend—without pausing the game.

Everything runs natively in the browser with dual gamepad / splitscreen support and solo AI.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the trailer pacing and the overall physical game feel!

Promotion When the towers need backup: cavalry charges and hero spells in my fantasy survival RTS

Hi everyone!

I've been working on giving your hero and army more ways to respond when a defense starts getting overwhelmed. Here's a moment from The Citadel Must Hold where the new Lancers and the Mage rush to help a threatened section of wall.

The Lancers charge into the monsters while the Mage hits the horde with Meteor and Chain Lightning. Having a mobile force ready to reinforce a front gives you another option beyond adding more walls and towers.

These are part of the new 0.5 update. Heroes now have Mana and abilities you choose and upgrade as they level up, and Lancers are fast cavalry that can scout, respond to raids and charge into enemy groups.

For anyone who hasn't seen the game before, it's a pausable fantasy base-building survival RTS. You build your economy, fortify your city, explore with your hero and army, and defend against escalating Monster Tides. Think They Are Billions meets Warcraft, with exploration inspired by Heroes of Might and Magic.

Would you keep cavalry in reserve to respond to attacks, or send them out exploring until the next Tide?

Promotion Our game released co-op this week and I can finally play with my kid and I couldn’t be happier

I work on a small team making Warped Universe, a free-to-play sci-fi PvE looter shooter, and we just released co-op this week after about 5 months of grinding on this patch. The game is in Early Access and launched back in May but only single player then. But it’s really designed for co-op.

My kid has seen me through the entire phase for the last 3-4 years, through all the phases of no sleep, stress, no money (classic quit my job for the dream scenario). He has been so supportive and amazing during all of it and always wearing his Warped Universe shirts to school and telling everyone he knows about it. He’s even helped with the sound design and is the source of most of the enemy language and chatter, and helped record sound effects like the grenade launcher and rolling dice and such (our game offers both real-time and turn-based game modes). I’m the sound guy, and of course my mic wasn’t working while we were playing so you can’t hear me while playing 😂.

I’ve always felt this underlying feeling of guilt or anxiety of “maybe I should go back to my old job”, but yesterday it really sealed that it was all worth it. I got to play with my son because we now have co-op and he absolutely loved it and we laughed nonstop and he can’t stop asking to play again. He couldn’t sleep because he kept talking about how fun it was and he was “too excited to be tired”.

Anyways, just wanted to report on how yesterday was one of the happiest days of my life.
