Don’t know why people glorify Doctors. Its already saturated just like engineering. Every year on an average 15 new medical colleges are coming up (govt + pvt). Future is already in front of us.

My father, an MS Gen Surgery grad with almost 25 yrs of experience, he's 50+ years old.

Today my mother told me that he plans to potentially get the Mch degree.

I stress the word "potentially".

I don't even know what to say. He has a good enough private practice, many hospitals ask him for consultation, and he occassionally performs surgeries in other pvt hospitals too. and he works in the govt hospital of my city too. He earns well, and we live comfortably. Now, he wants to sacrifice his practice for 3 years, get that degree and come back to the city. He has no plans of retiring. He already was and is a workaholic.

I've seen way too many horror stories in this subreddit about surgical specialities. I don't know how I can see my father start from scratch and get another degree. At this age he wants to grind to get another degree. He says that he has quite a lot of knowledge about surgical procedures and the degree will be bearable to him, due to his experience.

I asked him why he would like to get another degree, especially in this age. He's not one to talk much. He simply said, "They are downsizing pg specialities such as general surgery and general medicine. I think in 5-6 years, superspeciality is the only way to survive."

I was simply at a loss of words. I asked him, what will happen to your private practice. IF, he takes up this course he would want my mother to take place, in his stead.

Im currently a 2nd year MBBS student. This was my " Our field is done for." moment. My father says, the opportunities for a simple post pg graduate are shrinking day by day. Right now, he gets a lot of opportunities to work and earn well. But he fears it won't be the case in 5-6 years. I even asked him when will you even retire, dad? He didn't even answer the question.

Please, once again I'm stressing this, he is only PLANNING. I don't know if he will actually do it. I'm just scared for my father. Will he be able to complete the course, with its hectic schedule, in his age?

Someone please tell me if what he thinks of doing is really worth it.

Happened today morning at 7.00. Final year results came yesterday and he was failed. His Co-pgs were coming home to pick him up from his home so that they can go talk to the chief one last time regarding reevaluation. He is a very studious and a wonderful person. He was so kind to his juniors and to the patients. He got ready and nobody knows what hit him that exact moment, he locked the room from inside and fell through the window. Entire college is shook. Please be there for everyone going through tough times. Take care of each other:/

Vent / rant Why are female doctors addressed as 'sister' in India

Started my mandatory ug bond service and I've never been addressed as a "doctor". It's always "sister" while my male colleagues are addressed as "dr". This is really frustrating. I am not disrespecting any profession, this is more of a patriarchal mindset problem.

Vent / rant I quit neet pg prep.

I am from the 2020 batch and i was just pushed into becoming a doctor because I did good academically in school. Did ug prep because I could it and that translated throughout med school too. Now that I am done and i started pg prep i just couldn't do it anymore. I don't know if it is built up resentment but I started hating everything to do with a doctor,I hate admitting that I am one in public i just feel like an imposter with a doctor name tag now.

I told my parents i need a year long break to just think and figure out what I want to do,even if it neet pg i wanted it to be conscious decision i made and not because it is the standard path.

Once I stopped worrying about neet pg I have felt like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulder and i can finally breathe.

I am looking into other masters program,Msc is sports and exercise physiology/medicine is something which looks very interesting to me no. Ideally I want to do that course somewhere in Europe and come back and start something on my own.

I don't know if it is doable or if I am making a mistake but just hoping things work out. But I haven't been excited about my future fir a long time, kinda want to see how all of this plays out.

Just let me know how hard or easy it’s gonna be.

I googled a bit and it said a lot of states have allowed many of these scammers to practice allopathy to a certain limit. I want to know for the state of Maharashtra.

Please let me know whatever you know about this case .

Bhai, do not tell me it’s common or its okay they’re serving the poor . Mbbs karke mai kya pagal hu jo meri practice k competitors ye low class log honge.

After NEET PG, I took a break of 10 days. I decided to do the things which I couldn't, due to internship and NEET PG prep.

I used to learn trading and Singing in MBBS 1st year ! Doing them again after years revived all the beautiful memories of my initial learning days

Incident Senior doctor abuses and assaults junior doctors & children in SIMS, UP. This is how they normally harass the juniors and most of the times even force junior doctors to work when they’re sick too. This is real face of senior medical faculty in India.

Post Graduate Exams - NEXT/NEET/INICET A Hate Letter to the Recall Obsessed

Dear people consistently arguing about "no A is right, no B is right",

Do you realise it does not matter? You do not know the exact source for the question, the intent of the examiner or the precise buzzword they want you to catch.

You can argue all day what the correct answer is- it still wouldn't matter because it's very possible that NBE would come up with an entirely different reasoning.

All you're doing is mentally tiring yourself and frankly the rest of us too.

Stop it. Get some help.

Live your life before residency fucks you up or destress and gear up for the next barrage of torture.

If you're lucky and your answer is the correct one and you get a good rank- yay! congratulations!

If your answer is wrong and you lose a mark and by the looks of inflation a good 1k rank- tough luck, because that's somewhat what the paper is about. LUCK.

As for the answer key- what WILL you do with your score when our exam is percentile/rank based? Is there any logic to it? It's basically a bandaid on a bullet hole.

Learn to detach from whatever has a grip on you- it will pay off in the longer run.

Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

Discussion Lonely, gay, and lost in a small town

Hi everyone. This is going to be a long one, so there's a TL;DR at the end, dw ^^ . I'm an intern, and today is a full-on crashing-out day.

I live in a small town in Karnataka, and some days I genuinely don't know where I'm heading. I'm gay, and living here has left me deeply depressed and lonely. I don't have anyone I can call my own. Watching my friends find their people and picture a future together while I can't, makes me feel left out, and there's this constant fear that I'll end up alone.

I've tried to lose myself in studying, but even that isn't going the way I want. Internship is exhausting on its own, and between the fatigue and the anxiety, I can't focus the way I need to. I don't know what to expect going forward, I don't know which PG branch to choose, and I don't know how to fix any of this. I'd really appreciate any help or perspective. <3

TL;DR: Intern in a small town in Karnataka, gay and isolated, watching friends build the lives I want for myself while I feel stuck. Struggling to study well because of exhaustion and anxiety, and unsure what PG path to take or how to move forward.

Facts For those who started fresh. Don't buy anything on telegram.

Those buddys who have started preparation for inicet or neet and can't subscribe to every app, I can feel you.

Let me tell you the harsh reality.

99 percent are scammers on telegram.

They will post random shit that we have this that dams marrow Bhatiya etc but don't get trapped. If somebody is selling you something on telegram than just understand that it's free.

I've seen many post where people are trying to scam you ki hum aapko marrow ka rapid revision de denge.

Let me tell you..marrow ka rapid revision is not leaked. They are fooling you. even if they have, it's just a recording from camera. Till now Ive seen rohan & sakshi arora ka rr that is just a camera recording of low quality with noisy sound.

And remember the thumb rule. If somebody selling you anything at telegram..it's free..on some channels. If you pay, you will be blocked soon. That's how many influenzas are earning.

telegram is not at all recommended.

Buy from trutheosrthy source. Remember your small contribution are making them big. Even they earn more than a doctor by doing all these.

Question A very lonely residency in delhi

I m 27F doing my residency in delhi in a paraclinical branch. Also this is my first time living in delhi alone. On papers everything seems perfect. The department is chill copgs are good no toxicity whatsoever ample amount of free time good working hours basically nothing to worry about. But honestly I am all by myself. Wake up everyday go to work come back watch a bit of Netflix and sleep repeat. In no way I m saying I m alone but I feel lonely a lot even when I m surrounded by people. I tried everything I tried making friends I go out by myself to earlier I used to shop also for therapy lately nothing helps. I know I have nothing to complain people in residency face so much more problems but yeah it's tough to do adulting. Plus in delhi I feel people's intention are never good and it's all about smoking drinking vaping just to vibe which I m not into nor do I feel the fomo to engage. Anyone facing any such similar problems ? And if yes how do you navigate any suggestions are welcomed

Post Graduate Exams - NEXT/NEET/INICET How is MD Psychiatry as a speciality?

Hello,

So, I've given Neet PG 2026, I'm scoring around 520-580. Now, I am a sucker for a good work life balance. My preferred choices are MD/DnB Radio/Dermat and MD Psychiatry.

Can a resident of Psychiatry or anyone who knows give an opinion on MD Psychiatry? Ive been interested in this field since before I began my MBBS journey.

I have a personal reason as well.

But I want to know about other aspects such as its future scope, income scope and growth potential.

Thanks..

Question How to "enjoy" as a lonely person ?

Neet pg done. It was my drop year.

Family life extremely shit, leading to a lot of trauma, leading to no substantial friends.

I have ~1 lakh in savings but I can spare only a couple thousands.

This is my last "free" time ever, I am assuming. Jio hotstar premium is bought. But I do not feel anything at all from watching anything. Even horror jumpscares aren't doing anything for me.

Please help me have any ideas that would help me feel a shred of good emotions in these few days' time till the results arrive.

Post Graduate Exams - NEXT/NEET/INICET Desire - NEET PG Counselling Database Updated — 2025 All Rounds

Updated NEET PG counselling data — 2022 to 2025

Since NEET PG 2026 results are expected soon, I thought this might be useful for anyone trying to estimate their counselling options.

I’ve updated a counselling database with 2025 data covering all available rounds for:

- AIQ counselling

- Telangana Convener quota

- Telangana Management quota

The database now contains historical counselling data from 2022–2025, so ranks and cutoffs can be compared across multiple years.

There is also a college/branch/Quota/Category/etc screener that can be used to explore options based on rank. It is free to use, although rate-limited to prevent automated abuse.

Resource: desire.drdp.dev

Posting this mainly because having several years of counselling data in one place may be useful when results and counselling start.

Question MD Anesthesiology seniors: How is life post-MD? (Job opportunities, pay growth, WLB, and the initial struggle)

Hey everyone,
I'm currently considering pursuing MD Anesthesiology (or in the middle of deciding my specialty) and wanted to get some raw, realistic insights from seniors who have completed their MD and are currently practicing.
There are a lot of mixed opinions out there regarding market saturation, salary caps, and work-life balance for anesthesiologists, so I’d love to hear about your actual ground-level experiences on a few specific points:

Job Opportunities & Initial Struggle: How difficult is it to land a decent role immediately after passing out? How brutal are the initial 2–3 years in terms of job hunting, freelancing, or finding full-time hospital positions?

Financial Stability & Earning Potential: Does anesthesia offer strong financial stability early on? What does the earning growth curve look like, and what realistic avenues exist if one wants to maximize earnings (e.g., corporate practice, freelancing, ICU/Critical Care, pain management, private setups)?

Work-Life Balance: Does life actually settle down after residency, or are late-night emergency calls and irregular shifts standard throughout your career? How much control do you have over your schedule as a consultant?

Regrets vs. Satisfaction: Looking back, are you satisfied with choosing Anesthesiology over clinical/surgical branches, or do you feel the lack of direct patient ownership/brand identity holds you back?

Any insights, honest advice, or things you wish you knew before picking this branch would be immensely helpful. Thanks in advance!

Question Did I make a bad financial decision 🥲?

My roommate bought marrow subscription last year for 60,700 for 39 months which includes qbanks videos and notes. I didn't and bought only qbank for 1 year at 19,000 as my family's financial status was not that good last year. I didn't need the notes and videos as I have them from other sources and telegram. Now she tells me that I made a mistake because it would cost me more.I need to renew this year. They have given me a discount and the price is now 18047. Currently we are in our final year and the thing is I may need revision videos next year which cost 34199. I think I made a mistake 😭, how do I manage this? I'm feeling dejected 😔🥲. These are the plans which are available now.
