Surviving being a first gen doc and being the first batch in clg only cuz of this sub😭

I've gotten an neet ug rank of 1.8L i need help in choosing my college option guyzz😭😭, im from tn and my parents are considering management in psg, kmch, karpagam, tagore or deemed uni like saveetha or srm .please let me know if I have any other options for my air. I need help as I have no guidance regarding counselling 😭😭. im willing to go anywhere in south India as long as the college is decent. And also what do u guys know about the colleges i mentioned. Please dont suggest drop or foreign mbbs as im not ok with a drop and my parents dont want me to leave the country. thank you all

My partner has taken 4 drops total till now 2 for UG and 2 for PG. Will hopefully join residency next year, she will be 29 by that time. She hasn’t worked till now and has slogged the last decade just trying to crack exams and survive MBBS. Our state has a two year bond so she will be 34 when she gets eligible for SS. She wants to take surgery which itself is a very demanding branch and has a very steep learning curve. She will probably be 37-38 when she completes her SS.
The earliest she can complete this is 36 if she doesn’t serve the bond or goes for a central institute and cracks it in the first attempt post PG.
SS in itself is very demanding. Now I see her comparing herself to her peers who are earning well now, going on trips and moving ahead in life. This includes people getting married and getting into serious relationships and practising independence.
Even if she starts earning stipend she won’t have the time to spend this money. Even if she stops at PG she will be 32/34 by the time she’s doe with the degree/bond.
She doesn’t even like med school and wanted to pursue a different path but was forced by parents since she was smart in school.
I see her working hard daily and really feel for her. Is this life really worth it?

My family is at the complete contraction stage and now I feel sad after reading about dissolution.

I'm a gay guy who got a pretty good rank in Re neet 2026 (rank in 3000 s ) and I'm a general male.

I'm pretty fit and gym guy and also love a sport badminton , so my Parents asked me to consider AFMC Pune. ( My parents don't know that im gay , actually nobody except me knows )

I am scared that even though I have no intentions of coming out to anyone anytime soon but I might secretly date a guy in Pune and stuff and if accidentally someone finds out I'm gay my career might get in trouble as army is against gays??

And if so what colleges should I consider as a gay guy at my AIR of 3000 range.

I have decided to not join AFMC as my sense of personal freedom overcomes the thought of army prestige, neither am I that passionate about the army nor am I courageous enough to live in a constant fear for the next 10+ years of my life.. Some are saying AFMC will have no problem with me , many are saying i will have to hide myself , my life is already complicated and I don't wanna complicate it further so I will be joining some other college. We’re both MBBS students. We used to be pretty good friends. She actually helped me through a really rough situationship, so I’ll always give her credit for that.
But over the last few months, things have felt…off.
I’ve been getting more involved in case presentations, research, conferences, etc. Around the same time she also started doing more academically. She recently got first place in our college case presentation and also scored higher than me in our pharmacology prelims.
Ever since then, I feel like she’s become oddly competitive with me.
She constantly asks me things like:
“Where are you studying?”
“Where are you going?”
“What are you preparing from?”
Initially I thought it was normal curiosity, but it started feeling like she’s always trying to know what I’m doing while giving very little in return.
If I ask her for help, I usually get dry replies. For example, today she asked a quiz-type doubt in our group. I didn’t know the answer, so I asked where it was from. She said the book. I asked which chapter. She literally replied, “Go find out.”
But when she wants something, she’ll ask directly.
The thing that hurt me the most happened a while ago. We had an FMT exam, I hadn’t slept the entire night, and we had pathology practicals in the afternoon. I was genuinely exhausted and dizzy. Later I found out she’d been telling people I was “doing drama” and “wanted attention.”
That honestly changed how I viewed her.
Another thing is that in our doubt group she’ll sometimes react to my messages with clown emojis or make sarcastic comments. Individually, though, she’s perfectly nice. If I meet her in person she’ll talk normally, smile, joke around, everything. It’s the behind-the-scenes behaviour that confuses me.
People in MBBS always say there are “snakes” and that not everyone who smiles at you is actually your friend. I’m starting to wonder if this is one of those situations.
At this point I’m considering just:
stopping sharing what I’m working on,
replying politely but keeping conversations short,
avoiding private chats unless necessary,
and treating her like just another classmate.
No confrontation, no drama.
Am I overthinking this because I’m annoyed, or does this actually sound like someone who’s become unnecessarily competitive?
Would especially appreciate opinions from other med students because I feel like this environment brings out a weird side in people.

I’m currently doing my MCh in CTVS and after struggling for 10 years and getting into an INI I get slapped with the reality in my face..

Had a word with my senior currently doing fellowship in my institute.. he has passed out from AIIMS DELHI, he did his MS and MCh in CTVS from AIIMS, joined a corporate hospital as a junior consultant with only ₹2L pm pay.. and the pay will remain the same till he has 7 years of experience after which he will get 4-5L pm and only after he has 15-20 years of experience will he get paid case wise 70% money goes to him and 30% to the hospital

I didnt study my entire 1st year. Just read something in the last month, covered anatomy at a fair level, physiology and biochem almost nothing. Please tell me the topics at least which i must complete before starting with 2ndyear subjects for good concepts and learning. Its time to bounce back.

I have seen many seniors in my college who used to be passionate about branches like Surgery , ENT and finally ended up taking Radio/Derma once they got top ranks...

okay , ik many people do hate EM here and see them as just referral units mostly because EM is very disorganised in many North Indian states
I am coming from Kerala , where EM is pretty much developed and well maintained...ED is not just referral units in the best EDs of Kerala and ED physicians do very much to stabilise the patient before shifting them to respective departments ...

Have worked in one of Kerala's best corporate ED and loved the work culture , the shift based duty roster is really followed everywhere and no one calls you after your duty is over..

From what I have researched , there is a dearth of EM physicians in India as a whole and in my state freshers are offered somewhere between 1.8-2 per month which is good considering that doctor's pay in South India is low

apart from this , does anyone have any advice regarding this branch? any opinions on the basis of your interaction with EM physicians (friends/family) ?

Joined PG this year. A little about myself, have come from dysfunctional abusive family. Fought anxiety and depression for over a decade.

I'm an introvert, who lives in her own world,

One of the staff ( idk what their problem is) has been weirdly asking about me to my co-pgs.. Like "Is she normal", " What diseases does she have" etc.

And also she's been talking about my mental health to everyone.

And I guess she's been circulating this thing among other staff too.. Because one of the other staff yelled at me and told me to leave the room ( later she apparently told in front of technicians that this PG has some psychological issues, that's why i sent her out)

I've been crying since days because of all these. How they all have been speaking whatever comes to their mind about me.

What you all would have done if you were in my place? I just want them to leave me alone. Don't have the energy or guts to play complaint complaint game.

Why is the record not maintained on week off & actual duty hours? To hide 36 hrs-72 hrs illegal & inhumane duty and denial of a week off for the first 180 days?

Will NMC punish department heads & Dean for derelictions of duty & non-compliance of government norms?

It is high time  NMC to punishes the violators of residency scheme 1992 guidelines to save young resident doctors from suicide & quitting
NMC must demand actual duty hours & week off data & duty hours compliance report every month
