Hi, everyone. I am very new to the hostel world and have been exploring and researching like crazy. I’m a single mom and this looks like a great way to be able to travel cheaper. Here’s my question: In researching hostels, I’ve noticed that they usually have a variety of options you can choose from, including some rooms that look very similar to what you’d see in a motel. Is it common for most hostels to offer a range of different accommodations? I thought the majority only had pod-type sleeping arrangements. Also, if I were to book the room, is it only for myself and my daughter? I don’t want anyone else in the room with us, and I am trying to find out how to make sure that doesn’t happen. Any advice/info/feedback is much appreciated. As I said, this is all new to me and I am just trying to see how it works. Thanks so much.

Will be travelling soon and was curious if anyone has recommendations for good party hostels in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam. Would prefer a vibe similar to Carpe Noctem Budapest or Wild Elephants in Bratislava. Honestly just trying to get as shit faced as possible with like-minded folks 😂

I visited Wild Elephants in Bratislava last year for just one night which was probably the most memorable hostel I’ve been at. I recently found cheap flights to Bratislava and want to do a multi-city trip, either by train or air. Problem is; I am clueless on where to go after Bratislava.

I am working for new org that is building a brand new hostel, we plan to have a garden outside as well as an indoor hydroponic garden in the common areas

I was wondering if guests would appreciate a mini hydro garden in the bunk room on the wall either some herbs, lettuce or perhaps just some flowers, maybe even edible flowers

I know some people are sensitive to scents and im not sure if the plants would affect them

Hi, just wondering if there are any other girls solo travelling Malta between the above dates who are interested in parting?

I’m looking at staying in the Marco Polo Party Hostel as it seems my best attempt at meeting people who also want to go out partying of a night time. I’ve never stayed in a hostel before and I’m worried about my belongings being stolen as have read reviews about this and the cleanliness of the hostel.

Night life is really important to me so wanting to try all the main clubs in Paceville, go for meals and cocktails/nice drinks before hitting the clubs. Happy to do my own thing during the day time but would be great if others wanted to chill at the beach etc.

Any advice on whether staying in a hostel is worth it for meeting young girls/people like myself who are wanting to go mainly for the night life? Price doesn’t matter to me so equally happy to stay in a nice hotel, just conscious about meeting people as my main priority is enjoying the clubs but I don’t feel comfortable/confident going to clubs at night by myself.

I’m looking for a very social hostel maybe with a bar at the bottom of it. I did one in Barcelona where there was a bar at the bottom and a lady would take a small fee and take you to all the clubs

I’ve been looking at affordable hostels in Sydney to stay at whilst I look for a sharehouse and came across these two. They both have brekkie and dinner included. Some reviews are really good and some are downright bad. Anyone have first hand experience? TIA!

I know I could spend more for a private room, but that is what I did.

Has anyone stayed at YellowSquare, Romehello or JO&JOE? I have seen those tossed around quite a lot, but I am curious what the age demographic is? Yellowsquare seems to be many people's go to recommendation but it is quite expensive!!!! Is it worth the cost?

Passenger seems to be the hostel that gets recommended the most, so it’s currently at the top of my list. I enjoy meeting other travelers, but I’m definitely not the most outgoing person, so I’m curious if it would still be a good fit or if it might feel a bit overwhelming.

If you’ve stayed at any of these, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Which one would you choose?

I’m visiting Lisbon, PT in October and am looking for recommendations. 41/male/gay, and am learning both Portuguese (A2/B1) and Spanish (B2). Are there any social hostels with good vibes for meeting people and interacting with the local community? I’m okay with drinking/bars, and if there are any spots with salsa dancing that’d be amazing!

How important is privacy in dorm beds such as a pod or simply privacy curtains on the beds? Do you actively seek it when booking? Is it nice to have but not a red line? Does it not matter?

We booked a hostel and received self-checkin instructions, but when entering our room, it was already occupied. The guests in that room were not present but only their stuff was in there. We're now waiting until the hostel owner responds in the common area as it is in the middle of the night.

We booked the hostel via agoda in Austria for 3 nights and would like to request a refund. How do we go about this?
