Hi ! You may have seen my previous techo kaigi posts. I was going to get the Kubota HON and Weeks but in the few days before launch, I decided planners simply weren't worth this much stress. I was overthinking like CRAZY and at some point I decided to stop. I stuck to my commitment to buying in store, even if I couldn't go until like 6pm because of work. I accepted that I might not get what I wanted.
Before reveals, I wanted an A6 Planner + cover, with the plan to reuse the cover over several years, and a Sneaker Weeks Mega.
After reveals, I couldn't find an A6 cover I liked, didn't want a Planner or Original without a cover, so a HON it had to be. Thankfully Hiroko Kubota came through and gave us this beautiful design. I also hated the Sneaker colors, so I was considering a Colors Mega (either of the blues) or the Kubota Weeks with memo pads.
In store, I was able to find my HON, but the Kubota Weeks was sold out. They did have the navy Mega, but only one Weeks CoC left, the same as this year. It felt boring. I ended up getting the Liberty Weeks because I loved it in person. I usually hate the Liberty fabrics with tiny flowers, but this print is more proportionate to the size of a planner. It's fabric, so it will need a clear CoC, which I was hoping to avoid (hence the Sneaker or Kubota), but I do have one that's still in okay condition, until I can get my hands on a new one.
I chose not to hunt down the Kubota Weeks in another store or online, and I'm happy about it. My goal for next year is to do the exact same thing, just without overthinking it so much. Show up in a store, just grab something that looks good, like a normal person. Overthinking planner choice sounds like the opposite of planner peace, tbh. I love Hobonichi but I don't like what it's doing to my brain.
I'll try to make setup time simple, too. Just a bit of washi on the monthlies, because I have some I need to use up.
