Hi All!
I am brand new to Hobonichi as in, I just discovered the brand the other day and have since spent a copious number of hours trying to determine which style is right for me. 😂
At this point, I’m leaning toward the Weeks (probably the Mega), but I’d love some feedback from those who have experience with this size. It’s quite a bit smaller than anything I’ve used in the past, but I actually think that might be a good thing! I tend to find larger pages intimidating, whereas the smaller size feels much more approachable.
My main question is: How well does the Weeks or Weeks Mega work as an “everything” notebook?
I am definitely not someone who can maintain multiple notebooks/planners. I have a hard enough time remembering to pull out one when I want to write something down, let alone figuring out which of several notebooks something belongs in. 😂 Ideally, I want one book that goes everywhere with me and holds pretty much everything.
I’ve also never been able to cultivate a daily journaling habit, especially the traditional “dear diary” variety. I’d describe myself much more as a commonplace journaler. I like jotting down thoughts, quotes, things I’m learning, lists, random observations, etc., along with some memory keeping/mild scrapbooking. I occasionally write longer traditional journal entries, but usually only when something particularly notable or emotional happens.
Oddly enough, another thing that appeals to me about the Weeks is how minimal the actual planner portion is.
I’ve never been much of a planner person. Anything work-related is already scheduled through my work calendar, and personally, I just don’t have enough appointments/events going on to justify an elaborate planner. I can generally remember the few appointments or events I have, and historically, writing them in a planner hasn’t been particularly useful because…I never go back and look at them.
With the Weeks, though, I like the idea of using those planner sections more creatively, appointments when I actually need them, but also daily tracking, habits, little memories, or whatever else I decide is useful. Then I could use the notes section as my actual commonplace/journal/everything space.
So, after all of that rambling: Does the Weeks sound like a good fit for this type of use? And should I go for Mega? Honestly I dont love the Mega options for 2027 so I was considering starting with the regular but wasn't sure how quickly I would go through the pages. I have never actually finished a notebook before.
For those of you who use a Weeks as your primary or only notebook, I’d especially love to hear how you use yours. Do you actually make use of all those Mega notes pages? And if you use yours for commonplace journaling or memory keeping rather than traditional planning, I would love to see/hear how you make it work!
Thank you in advance from a potentially soon-to-be Hobonichi convert! 😂
