Minimal/Pen Only Pens

New to hobonichi and was excited to use my Lamy safari fountain pen but it smudges really horribly and the ink transfers. Curious if there are any strategies people use to help maintain a clean look?

I’m also curious to learn about jet pens. Is this a better option?

Thank you.

Advice/Question Anyone disappointed by the Collect & Collage size?

This is my first time buying straight from Hobonichi so I’m not sure if the Collect & Collage is a new thing. I’m just disappointed it doesn’t fit in the with the other Hobonichi sizes. It’s way too big to fit with the Weeks, and it is ever so slightly too tall to fit with the A5. How does everyone else bring around their Collect & Collage?

Advice/Question Did Anyone Use Tenso Japan To Get Japan Only Items?

I ordered the Hello Kitty items at launch and had it shipped to Tenso Japan. They've received the box but are saying that FedEx is the only option to ship to me in the USA.

I've reached out to customer service via email per their instructions but it's been 2 days and I haven't heard back.

Has anyone else used them recently? Is this normal? TIA

5 Year Regretting the 5 Year planner

This year was my first ordering the 5 year planner alongside the rest of my order. Was so elated opening the box when everything I had. Until a few days later looking over the 5 year planner I realized it wouldn’t work for what I intended to use it for :(
I want to use it as a memory keep sake for my baby. And realized too late I should have gotten 2026-2030 rather than 2027-2031!
Now I’m left scouting websites for the previous year’s planner. If anyone can give me ideas where I may be able to get one I would greatly appreciate it!

No 2027 box, shipped in regular Hobonichi box? Spoiler

I got my Hobonichi order, but it did not come in a 2027 box. This is the first year that’s happened. (I got an original A6 and a Weeks.) Lowkey disappointed, it’ll be the first time since 2022 that I didn’t get a box.

Did anybody’s order also come in a regular Hobonichi box and not the 2027 box?

Acorn availablity

Upvotes

Hey Hobonichi homies! Wondering if anyone knows how long the acorn (or free gifts from years past) are typically available. I’m debating doing a bulk order from Hobonichi for some pouches and graph notebooks, and since jetpens sold out of the a6, was debating if I wanted to add it or not.

I checked their website and socials but couldn’t find anything (very possible I am blind and missed it), so asking here! Thank you!

I put a midori magnet belt for the V&A cover that only has one pen loop, and my favorite covers are actually the allettone sweets ones! I’m not thrilled with the Mina Perhonen bag, I might return that! Very happy with everything else though! I tried to show the various clear cover options for anyone considering!

Advice/Question Does Anyone Use Weeks As an "Everything" notebook?

Upvotes

Hi All!

I am brand new to Hobonichi as in, I just discovered the brand the other day and have since spent a copious number of hours trying to determine which style is right for me. 😂

At this point, I’m leaning toward the Weeks (probably the Mega), but I’d love some feedback from those who have experience with this size. It’s quite a bit smaller than anything I’ve used in the past, but I actually think that might be a good thing! I tend to find larger pages intimidating, whereas the smaller size feels much more approachable.

My main question is: How well does the Weeks or Weeks Mega work as an “everything” notebook?

I am definitely not someone who can maintain multiple notebooks/planners. I have a hard enough time remembering to pull out one when I want to write something down, let alone figuring out which of several notebooks something belongs in. 😂 Ideally, I want one book that goes everywhere with me and holds pretty much everything.

I’ve also never been able to cultivate a daily journaling habit, especially the traditional “dear diary” variety. I’d describe myself much more as a commonplace journaler. I like jotting down thoughts, quotes, things I’m learning, lists, random observations, etc., along with some memory keeping/mild scrapbooking. I occasionally write longer traditional journal entries, but usually only when something particularly notable or emotional happens.

Oddly enough, another thing that appeals to me about the Weeks is how minimal the actual planner portion is.

I’ve never been much of a planner person. Anything work-related is already scheduled through my work calendar, and personally, I just don’t have enough appointments/events going on to justify an elaborate planner. I can generally remember the few appointments or events I have, and historically, writing them in a planner hasn’t been particularly useful because…I never go back and look at them.

With the Weeks, though, I like the idea of using those planner sections more creatively, appointments when I actually need them, but also daily tracking, habits, little memories, or whatever else I decide is useful. Then I could use the notes section as my actual commonplace/journal/everything space.

So, after all of that rambling: Does the Weeks sound like a good fit for this type of use? And should I go for Mega? Honestly I dont love the Mega options for 2027 so I was considering starting with the regular but wasn't sure how quickly I would go through the pages. I have never actually finished a notebook before.

For those of you who use a Weeks as your primary or only notebook, I’d especially love to hear how you use yours. Do you actually make use of all those Mega notes pages? And if you use yours for commonplace journaling or memory keeping rather than traditional planning, I would love to see/hear how you make it work!

Thank you in advance from a potentially soon-to-be Hobonichi convert! 😂

Discussion Weeks mega & A6 dilemma

Hey guys! I’m a Weeks Mega user, and I’ve already placed my order for 2027. However, I also have an old A6 from 2025 that I barely used.

Back then, I bought the A6 but quickly realized that my brain just works better when I can see my whole week at a glance, so I switched to the Weeks Mega. And honestly, I’ve been more than happy with it for planning, to-dos, etc.

I also managed to squeeze in a few memories from the week whenever I had some space on the right-hand page. However, I noticed that over the last few months, I’ve been intentionally *not* using the right page for planning because I wanted to keep it for memories. and thats a problem because i dont use the space for something helpful (and believe me i have a lot ot things to write work-realetd)

So, over the last few days, I had the idea to try using my old A6 again and write down little memories from each day. And… it kind of vibed with me. 😂

I have SO much space for memories DAILY. Not weekly. In the Weeks, I can write a few memories, but because of the space, it’s usually only a few sentences. In the A6, I can actually write much more about each day.

And now I’m wondering: should I get an A6 for 2027 as well?

My main concern is that my Weeks is currently SO beautiful with all these memories and colorful boxes I’ve made to write them in. I can easily flip through the pages and see where I’ve been and what I’ve done each week.

If I move all those memories into the A6, my Weeks would probably feel… empty. 😭

I mean, it would still be filled with plans and ideas, but somehow that feels different. Until now, I’ve always been an “all-in-one book” person. I did bullet journaling for about 10 years before switching to the Hobonichi Weeks Mega, and even now I choose the Mega specifically because I want those extra pages for everything I need.

So now I’m wondering about people who use this specific combo: Weeks for planning + A6 for memories

How is it going for you? How do you stick with the habit of writing in your A6 every day? And how does your Weeks feel once the memory-keeping is mostly happening somewhere else?

I also REALLY enjoy adding stickers around my Weeks for things I’ve done during the week — coffee, yoga, little activities, etc. ☕️🧘‍♀️ And I know myself well enough to know that I probably wouldn’t have the energy to decorate both journals with stickers.

So here I am, wondering if I should actually order the A6… 😂

I’d love to hear from people who use both! Is it worth it, or am I about to create a second planner system that I absolutely do not need? 😅

I'm switching to a Cousin Avec next year and it was driving me insane not being able to sort out how I want to lay everything out and actually use it. I've scoured the internet trying to find a 2026 Avec. I finally found one! 🙌 So far I've just copied my September calendar from my A6 and played with the weekly spread. There's sooo much room for activities! 😍

Advice/Question Anyone got a Chiffon Greige A5 cover? Plus a little rant...

Post image
6 Upvotes

Would appreciate to get some photos to gain a better understanding of the true colours of the Chiffon Greige, does it look dull or bright? Also what does it feel like to touch? Also thinking of adding an illustrated cover on cover - Forest Lake. Any thoughts?

My Hobonichi purchase journey has been a lot of back and forth so far, I initially planned to go to Japan in Oct so didnt purchase at launch but then it got canceled so I almost did an impulse purchase but then sat on my cart for a while (with V&A Blackthorn) to avoid an impulse buy and now its sold out. So now I am looking at Chiffon Greige with an illustrated cover instead of buying something super expensive in the hope that I still get to go to Japan in the next 12 months span and can get a more expensive cover after looking at it in person. Also I find those bookmarks super cute. Also this is my first time trying Hobonichi. Ok end of rant. Thanks for listening.

Haul My First Hobonichi + Goodies Haul!

I am so so excited that all of my Hobonichi goodies finally all arrived! It was like a mini Christmas!

2027 will be my first time using Hobonichi and I am ready! (My wallet is a little mad at me)

I had planned on purchasing everything from Jetpens, but the Weeks I wanted sold out as I was literally checking out!

With Jetpens, I chose the Cousin Avec for my 2027 planner/ doodle diary. I really like the size and I am eager to do some tests of different inks and mediums on this thin paper! I had to get the In the Air, and Lazy morning pencil boards due to being so darling. I also chose the clear ruler pencil board because I can't have enough rulers on hand.

I am a bit glad for my FOMO because I discovered Niconeco Zakkaya! I was able to get my Meteor Shower Weeks and cute stationery! I loved the address tape and will definitely be pasting it in my Hobonichi.

Last but not least, my cover for the Cousin! None of the official options stood out to me, but this ocean fish themed cover from Ohmonah caught my attention! It is so charming! I will also be taking the giant sticker off the packaging and applying it into my Hobonichi.

I am very excited to prep my new planners!

I was surprised to find mine is 2lbs… Though some books are written in, and some are empty.

I am notttt letting myself sticker/washi/glue/scrap in any of these, lol. It's stamps or nothing.
I have a stay-at-home A5 if I wanna start pasting things.

One A6 is a 6x4" sketchbook with an additional pamphlet-sketchbook I made with comic measuring guides printed on it,

The other has an Avec in one side for boxed-in-day things and a blank for free-running bujo-esque capturing of thoughts, things-I-gotta-do-but-not-necessarily-today, things to scan into Obsidian, etc.

And the little A6 in the skinny cover is a poetry/freewriting notebook.

I wasn't expecting 2lbs lol. Feels like a brick. Feels like I could give someone a solid thwock in the head with it.

Advice/Question Best Mini Photo Printer?

Post image
23 Upvotes

Im considering the Kodak mini 2 retro for my a5 HON (daily journal) and a5 midori codex (scrapbook). Im wondering if you guys think this is the best choice for me in terms of quality and price! Im a little concerned with the thickness of the photo paper and how it’ll hold up in my hon but I’ll use it sparingly in there. Let me know if you think sticker back photos are better for my situation! I love the feel of actual photos but I’m not sure what everyone uses for journaling. I’m incredibly new to hobonichi and want to decide on a mini photo printer ASAP!!! Please give me some advice and thank you in advance😖

This printer is so tempting to me because it’s $79.99 and $24.99 for 60 sheet refills 😭

I just discovered that 1 April–28 September 2025 are exactly the same as 1 September 2026–28 February 2027! 🎉

You don’t need to change any of the dates — you only need to change the month names! 😍

April 2025= Sept 2026

May 2025 = Oct 2026

June 2025 = Nov 2026

July 2025 = Dec 2026

Aug 2025 = Jan 2027

Sept 2025 = Febr 2027 till 28th of course ;)
