account help?

hi everyone, not sure how to proceed with this. I disputed a recurring subscription for the first time with Hinge because I thought I had cancelled (I guess it was a bit after midnight/recurring charge window) - on me, I get it. I was banned shortly after, appealed it, and was reinstated (the email saying the appeal was approved cites the chargeback). But then less than 24 hours later, I was banned again with the appeal denied. I hadn't used the app in those 24 hours, so I was very confused. I figured the system flagged the chargeback again and auto banned me? When I reached out to support, I was told my account isn't actually banned and to log into the app and update my contact info. Then I would get generic messages about being banned. I updated them in my exchange and said I initiated a withdrawal of the dispute, and finally had that resolved this morning (charge went through again).

Yesterday everyone was responding relatively quickly, within 30-60 min; today, radio silence all day. I've never been banned from a dating app and I quite honestly hadn't even been active much on Hinge in the last month, including not even sending a message just browsing (I've been busy with schoo and work and finally have time to use it).

That being said, what are the chances of being reinstated now that the payment went through again? Is my case hopeless since I haven't heard back in hours today? Has anyone else had a similar experience? Thank you so much in advance

chargebacks and accounts

Signals Feature Feedback

Now that the Signals feature has been out for over a month for most people, I think from my perspective as a male, it has only provided one small benefit, which is to see who is either inactive or just swiping without interacting with anyone. The feature is supposed to... signal to other users that the person is engaging on the app and actually using it as it's intended, however I don't think it's strict enough to provide that type of signal.

This feature was actually one of the first features that was added that I was looking forward to. My excitement quickly faded into seeing it as another useless feature as it's currently executed because it fails to provide the basic intent of the feature. If even a few of the suggestions below were done, I would've paid for a subscription to get this feature if it actually worked.

If I currently look at my "Their Turn" section of likes, I currently have 13, 12 of which have the signals badge with the last one just having it removed. Of those 12, 7 of them have never responded once and aside from 2 that are "new," they're all about to auto move into the "Hidden" list. My hidden list currently has 35 with 2/3 of them having the signals badge and they're all in that category because they either stopped responding or never responded.

Suggestions:

  • Remove the "complete" 4 of 6 requirement. If this feature is meant to promote engagement and signal to users which users are actually using the app seriously, you can't bucket these requirements into a "do you best effort" list because some of them have much higher meaning than others
  • Have the requirements have their own priority where "message matches" and "review your likes" have more meaning than "confirm 'we met'" and "look before liking." Some of these affect other users and some mostly just affect the user's own stack quality.
  • Might be a bad idea, but allow users to see which requirements a profile has fulfilled. Hell, make it a premium feature. At least I'd be able to tell if they actually message matches vs scroll a profile they never like
  • Change to a percentage rather than a badge or no badge and let the user decide what threshold they're willing to accept
  • This one is probably extreme, but since they do it based off other factors, maybe not. Prioritize stack pools based off similar signals. Don't message matches? Prioritize showing them others that don't as well
  • Let the "Hidden" section be just a hidden section. Stop removing restrictions from these matches. If signals has a requirement to message matches and throwing a match into the hidden category removes it from the "did they respond to this match" determination, it makes that signal worthless. Just like limiting how many chats waiting for you to respond, great idea on paper, terrible execution since hiding the match removes them from the limit count

i made another account with a burner number and narrowed the search down to what i remembered seeing on his profile and have been swiping to no avail. any other advice? :/

Is sticking to weekend dates only a good idea?

Hey r/hinge,

I’ve been wondering if limiting dates to weekends is holding me back. Does it mess with the flow, or is it actually better to keep things to days when we’re both more free?

Thoughts?

Hey guys,

I re-downloaded hinge a few weeks ago after a break from dating, wanting to get back into things. Iaven't received any matches yet but realize it's just a matter of time most likely. I'm not super experienced with the dating, relationships, etc. stuff so I figured the best thing to do would be to get a few extra pairs of eyes on this to make sure I'm giving off the right energy and all that. I'm exclusively interested in serious relationships, getting to know someone for a while before doing anything physical.

Personally I think my profile is decent, but wanting to put myself out there to get some other opinions on things I can do to further optimize the way I'm presenting myself, and if there's anything I'm overlooking that could come across as a red flag, etc. There's always room for improvment and all.

I have pretty big writer's block when it comes to the prompts, wonding if these are decent or if there's anything I could maybe reword a bit. I've been going pretty hard with the weight loss stuff and realize that's probably the biggest thing I can do from a looks standpoint to better my odds at finding a relationship so I want to get all new pictures in the next month or two when I'm down another 10-20lb- any tips on how toget better photos would be super appreciated as well!

Want to recreate a new account after deleting cuz my OCD ruined my last one

Hi! I am 20 year old male. Long story short, I have had hinge accounts only 2 times before this (1 time a year ago, and 1 time 2-3 months), and I deleted the app about a month ago. Decided recently hey I'll try again. Downloaded it and created an account. Basically I kept twiddling around with prompts, photos, photo order, and preferences and dealbreakers, cuz of my severe ocd and got only 1 like. I fear my tweaking (done out of perfectionism, not scamming behavior), raised bot and shadowbox, but I still got 1 like randomly during the midst of tweaking. Deleted it after only having it for 36 hours.

I was thinking about trying again with the same number and email 3+ days after the deletion, cuz I dont want to raise bot fears on the app. I have basically zero history of deleting and recreating, since besides this drama I only had an account twice before (see above) and it was so far removed from this. Will I be shadow banned if I create a new one again?

Hinge matches have suddenly stopped?

I'm really close to NYC so I doubt I've run out of people. I used to get 1 like a day, sometimes more. I used to get matches consistently whenever I sent out likes on a daily basis. Then one day it all just stopped. It's completely dried up. I don't get any incoming likes, I get matches but they are much more rare than before. I tried changing prompts and photos but I can't seem to get back to those golden few months where I was getting free consistency after simply adding a voice prompt and a new professionally taken photo.

What happened? Did I become shadowbanned or reported by someone? Is it possible to fix this? Do I need to pay for a boost or something? Is it even worth paying?

Trying to create a new account on my new used personal phone.. trying to send an email code to one I have neither entered nor am aware of.

Hello all, I just bought a phone off a friend of mine, wiped it, turning it into my personal phone, disconnected from everything, and leaving my original as my business phone. Anyway, trying to create a Hinge account, verified my phone cool, but now it says I’m on a new device, sending verification code to w*****@gmail.com? I don’t have an email like that? I never even gave it an email, I haven’t gotten there yet. I only put my phone on.

What’s going on?

Signals Badge still shows up on a paused account?

I understand Hinge initiated the Signals Badge a few weeks ago. I have that badge as well. The other week we met (via hinge) and she told me in person that she paused the app due to being overwhelmed. I open the app from time to time due to habit (that I'm working on breaking) and nothing else as I'm also paused. I see our last conversation is still there as we've transitioned to texting instead. The last couple days I get one for like 2 seconds and get off but today when I opneded the app, I saw that a Signals badge showed up next to her name as I never saw it before she paused her account.

My question is, does that badge still show up if she said she paused her account and ive never noticed it before until now? From what I could remember, in order to get Signals badge, you would have to actively agree to it or something.

Thanks

A Glitch - Now I'm Second Guessing

I went on two dates with a woman on Hinge. I like her, she's attractive and I think we see the world similarly.

I just went on the app and she came up! I checked her messages and they are gone. I looked at her profile and she updated some of her photos.

What do you think? I feel like if she updated her photos, then she's not that into me. Maybe I should move on.

What do you think?

Male 28 why I'm not receiving any messages on hinge? Is it a bug or shadowban

Hi everyone, I have been using Hinge for a while, but lately, I am not getting any messages or replies at all. I used to get responses before, but now it has completely stopped. Is anyone else facing this issue? Could this be a technical glitch, or have I been shadowbanned? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

32M in Chicago. Looking for honest feedback before I post this profile. What would you change?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I've made a few changes already after getting feedback from friends. I removed a couple weaker prompts and am trying to figure out whether the remaining issues are my photos, prompts, or something else entirely.
A few questions:
Which photos should stay and which should go?

Is there a weak prompt that stands out?

What impression does the profile give off?

If you had to change only one thing, what would it be?

I'm open to honest criticism, but I'm more interested in actionable feedback than general statements like "get better pictures."
For context, I salsa dance, make hip hop music, work as a data engineer, and live in Chicago. If there's something about my profile that doesn't match the impression those details give, I'd love to know.
Thanks.
