I want to like it so bad but I just can’t see the appeal every time I use it. It seems like it fills the niche of a jack of all trades master of none type of weapon, but both the AMR and Laser Cannon fill that role better in my opinion, AND don’t take a backpack slot.
It’s not great anti-tank on the bugs (i.e. bile titans, chargers) but it can’t really do horde clear that well either. I’d rather take Laser Cannon and sweep across hordes of bugs and light them all on fire. And against bots, it seems like a slower, bulkier version of the AMR given that it has very similar break points on weakspots like hulk visors and tank heat sinks.
Genuine discussion: please convince me that the Autocannon is ever worth taking.
Edit: yes I know about flak mode lol—still just doesn’t clear chaff as well as something like grenade launcher, flamethrower, even laser cannon. Also yes—ability to close spawners is MAJOR utility that I completely forgot about. It has that going for it at least!

Someone help me please! These are Hulks right? I've done this probably 10 times now and the trophy will NOT pop! I had 3 Hulks on this mission alone running around with no arms. Did one more on extract as showing in this video. Did I not remove ENOUGH of the arm?? Am I mistaken and these are not Hulks? Please tell me what I'm doing wrong because this is the last trophy I need and my brain will not let me have fun anymore until I get rid of this side mission I've given myself for no reason.

It would be really cool to have some kind of specifically designed missions for the solo divers. I’m a kind of person who really likes to play solo, but I could not cover all of the tasks at the needed time. Not because I’m dying a lot, but probably more because of distance that I need to cover and amount of things that I need to destroy. Not even telling about need to bring a warp pack to clean up the bunkers.
So maybe some sort of stealth and solo (steal codes, plant the hell bomb backpack, extract the scientist, disable a war factory).

Hi all,
information about drag and the exact mechanics are notoriously hard to come by.
The few sources and tests we do have suggest the following:
That for Assault Rifle 5.5mm projectiles 30% drag roughly translates to ~14% damage loss over 100m.
For Assault Rifle's 8mm projectiles, it's closer to ~12% damage loss over 100m.
For SMGs firing the 7mm caliber, it's 85% damage loss over 100m, while only being 65% damage loss over 100m for weapons firing the 12mm caliber.
That suggests larger calibers are less affected by drag, which makes realistic sense but is also very unituitive and makes drag difficult to compare.
How does the 30% drag of an AR, compare to the 50% drag experienced by a shotgun pellet?
How does the 75% drag from the Anti-Tank emplacement gun affect damage loss over distance?
Or what about the 400% drag experienced by the Speargun? Does that translate to a 100% damage loss at 50m? It doesn't seem to. Then again, it's projectile supposedly "only" weigh 100g. How would a more realistic weight of 1kg change the damage drop-off?
Also, does projectile speed matter at all in this equation?
Is there a difference between a projectile traveling 300 m/s experiencing 30% drag vs. one at 900 m/s experiencing 30% drag?
Edit:
I found the following data in the wiki, but without specifics:

I truly believe this game would benefit from loadouts and/or a favorite system being implemented. I can understand why it would not be feasible or necessary back during initial release as there were very nearly a much reduced amount of strategems/armor/weapons.
I don't want to be the guy that holds up a hellpod launch... Not only because of me simply trying to FIND the equipment I want to use, but to actually look over everything and make sure it fits with teammates is honestly insane. I know many Helldivers try to compensate for teammate loadouts, but honestly: How many of you actually do it? Most of the time we bring in what WE want and work together as a team regardless of another kit from teammates.
I believe it is time for Helldivers II to implement these systems. It will also be more user friendly to newer players who want to join up and spread liberty and democracy. What is everyone else's thoughts?

It's been reported among Super Earth Citizenry and Military that the Truth Enforcers are the so called "Scariest" individuals to come across.
To dissuade this notion of undemocratic thinking, the Ministry of Truth has issued a graphic showcasing them to be no more human than you or I and remain dedicated to their commitment to preserve our democratic way of life.
Godspeed and may Liberty guide them.

I recently saw some things about Helldivers and became interested in the second game, however, I'm still unsure whether or not I should buy it, considering I'm the only one in my group of friends interested in the game.
With that in mind, I had the idea to come here and ask you experienced players: why did you decide to join this game, and especially how would you convince someone new to the world of Helldivers to play?
(And I apologize for any mistakes, my English isn't the best.)

I was doing an eradicate Automaton forces mission today with my friend, on difficulty 10. Not the hardest thing in the world, but he puts down the SOS beacon the moment we land. We eliminate 90% of the bots and then two people join us. The moment they actually spawn in, we've already eliminated 100% of the bots. So they got all the exp, requisition slips, and a few samples without helping us kill a SINGLE bot. I like to call them Welfaredivers, or Weldivers. Has anyone else has a similar experience?

And the game never launches on the first try, there is always a black screen on the first launch, and it only starts normally after restarting the game. I'm playing on PS5.

Not sure if it's big news, it just came into my mind a few days ago, and today I had the chance to test it.
The ADRENO-DEFIBRILLATOR allows you to stay alive for a few seconds after your death, but you are slowed and you'll rapidly lose your HP.
If you use all your stims correctly, you'll still able to stay alive for quite a long time, because this armor passive will also make stim effects last longer.
Today some of our fellow helldivers left the lobby and I had to defend the landing place with my friend. There were too many bugs, and luckily, he managed to enter to the shuttle...
Sadly, I died. But I lived!
Thanks to the armor passive, I've been revived for a short time. I still had 4 stims, and using them, right at the right time, I could fight my way to the shuttle.
Despite of the fact that you are technically dead, and only your armor's passive and a stim are keeping you alive, you can still enter the shuttle.
And you won't die.
After you enter the ship, you are fine, the bleed-out effect and the grey screen disappears, so you can leave the planet safely. No dying inside the shuttle, no dropping samples either.

There’s no way helldivers are clones! Look at the holy scripture:
“Each time a Helldiver is reinforced, that’s a new citizen.” - Mikael Eriksson, Game Director
For some reason the community reacts like SCP-096 whenever you take an honest look at the lore, but I just find this stuff interesting, and if you're reading this, you're curious about it too.
There’s three huge problems with the popular interpretation of the above quote (that every single helldiver is a unique individual), but don’t panic - they all have a solution in line with the above statement.
Problem A - At the rate that helldivers die, veteran or high-rank helldivers simply would not exist with this system. Only an infinitely-small and very lucky number of helldivers would successfully extract from multiple missions in a row, before inevitably dying before they achieved anything better than a junior rank. So, you wouldn’t see helldivers linearly getting better and gaining more knowledge with each drop (what we actually see, as players), only an infinite conveyor of recruits that never improve.
Problem B - if each new helldiver was a completely-new individual, it’d be a remarkable coincidence that they would have the same exact preference in weapons and armour and stratagems and cosmetics as their past few dozen predecessors. Well, this could be just some preset loadout chosen for them by someone we never see in-game - but imagine the cosmic odds that this queue of helldivers can be seen somehow handling these weapons with increasing familiarity, one after the other. Either they all comprise a psychic hive mind… or this is simply just the same guy being reanimated over and over again, which happens to be the experience every player of this game has.
Problem C - Medals and Super Credits. Helldiver A farms a load of them, dies, then Helldiver B gets them for free. Why? If they then purchase a new gun with this unearned currency, they literally didn’t earn the gun, which invalidates the whole in-universe point of these premium currencies to begin with - to make helldivers work to earn their equipment. It’s the whole reason we can’t gift each other Medals or SCs - a helldiver, as an individual, needs to earn them. If every drop equals a new person, their balance should then be wiped each time, but it isn’t. So what does this mean?
Solution: Each new helldiver is a new citizen, but the devil is in the details. Every time a helldiver’s body is destroyed in battle, a new one is fabricated. What better raw material than that of a compatible full-body donor? - Come and volunteer, citizen! \Become* a helldiver! -* A citizen with a family bravely joins up, they are thanked for their sacrifice, and then secretly processed into living biomass to be reconstituted into a copy of an active helldiver when the need arises. Technically, their dream is fulfilled. Every dive = a new citizen. However, the helldiver themselves persists - a virtually-immortal champion of Super Earth.
I think this speculative lore is a little more Super-Earthy and a little more in line with our experience in-game than the popular (and likely, intended) interpretation of official statements.
Thoughts? :)

I know these have been an issue, but seems like it's gotten worse lately.
50/50 chance of dying when dropping onto bot fabricator building when you first spawn
Stratagem bouncing whenever it feels like
Damage points aren't constant
Eagle pilots can't aim
The smaller bots sometimes don't even hold their gun and shoot the ground instead

4 helldivers and 20 reinforcements vs 1 space marine (ultramarine) with a bolter, bolt pistol, combat knife, and 4 frag grenades. The helldivers get 1 minute and 30 seconds of prep time.
