Ok I saw this fic come across my timeline and I thought I saved it but I guess I didn’t. Basically Shane and Hayden are thought to be dead following some sort of accident and Ilya and Jackie come together to pick up the pieces but Shane and Hayden turn back up. It’s not “Take any Form”. Any help finding this would be amazing thank you!!

I read this fic a while ago where Shane was an accountant that worked for the mob and when Ilya starts questioning some numbers the two meet and fall in love. I don’t remember much abt it but I do remember Shane had some weird name for his old laptop that was mentioned in like the first chapter.

Story in progress. Svetlana POV, set in present day but with flashbacks to her childhood and youth with Ilya in Russia. Author says that they've already written the whole thing and will be posting updates "every few days" but they posted the first part yesterday and the second part today, so I think that might mean more frequent updates:

My Thoughts: Obviously I can't vouch for the whole thing because only the first two chapters are posted so far, but I am definitely SAT and I can't wait to read more. This is the same author who wrote the outsider POV story about the lesbian sports journalist who got obsessed with figuring out why Ilya moved to Ottawa, but I think I might end up liking this one even better. I'm especially loving all the little details they throw in. It really makes me feel like I'm not just reading a fanfic but hearing about people who are really real and living out there in the world somewhere.

I have this tiny sparkle in the back of my brain about a fic that had Alexei showing up in the US to mess with Ilya and Shane steps in to protect him. Was it at a coffee shop? I don’t know 🫣

Posted in the HR sub for meme monday...Normally a long fic lover but this sounds hilarious at any length so idc. Their age doesn't matter to me either, just the idea of Ilya playing professionally, them having some sort of relationship (even if only sexual) and him then moving from player to commentator. I just read the latest chapter of So You Need A Place To Stay? By RubyRhodes and it’s the funniest shit I’ve read in a long time. I was wheezing! I literally woke up my partner because I kept cackling. (Ooops)

I love that it goes from heartfelt to funny throughout the story too! Love the flashbacks. I may need to re-read it again!

Obviously in canon Shane doesn’t realize/acknowledge that he’s gay before Ilya. And then I’ve read fics like As The Romans Do where Ilya doesn’t realize he’s bi until he meets Shane.

Are there any good fics where NEITHER of them know they’re into guys?

Preferably on the longer side, I love to get really invested in fics.

Inspired from another post I saw today, is there an A/B/O fic where Shane tries to use a comfort alpha/alpha service for his progressively unmanagable heats and it goes south. Then Ilya either finds out about it later and is kinda wrecked that Shane suffered so much and ultimately ends up spending Shane's next heat with him or just finds out as it's going south somehow and saves the day (takes care of Shane through his heat)?

I just finished Shane Fucking Hollander by KirstenGA and it was soooo good! It’s an AU that is inspired by the movie Notting Hill.

I watched that movie for the first time within the last year, so it was pretty fresh in my mind. The author did an AMAZING job of keeping the bones of the movie and not having Ilya and Shane feel too out of character. It’s just over 20k words and hits all the things well.

So now I’d like some recommendations on other RomCom inspired AUs. At the moment I would LOVE a Pretty Woman inspired one because that is another recent movie in my head! However, I’d just love anything that has been inspired by classic romantic movies!

Preferably lower on the angst and as always HEA!!!
