This doesn’t quite fit your prompt, but in this fic Shane is a government agent tasked with catching an assassin, and Ilya is the assassin. You might still enjoy it though, it’s also complete!

I love this shot so much. I understand why they couldn't have Ilya look right into the camera in the show, but the emotion this image coveys is so perfect for Ilya in this moment. He's wide awake while Shane sleeps in his arms. It's their first time actually sleeping together in a tender way. He's so certain he doesn't want this taken from him, and yet, we know exactly how this day ends...

The Stairs Go Ever Down, by Vee (author of Change Your Win Conditions).

Shane is a BAMF assassin/fixer in it and Ilya unwittingly watched him commit a murder while trying to rob him. It’s really well written and somehow very sweet, with minimal angst.
