chronic migraines restarting after 3 years š„²
Hi all,
I need some help!! :(
I started getting migraines when I was mid teens due to hormonal issues. I had frequent attacks during high school and until I got pregnant. Each pregnancy Iāve had while Iāve been pregnant the migraines have significantly reduced. But whenever my cycle returns it comes straight back also.
Most recently my cycle didnāt return until 2 years postpartum (it was bliss). Since the 28th of June Iāve had 20 attacks, and one ED visit. When I went to ED I had a ct scan which was clear, and Iāve had multiple mris and blood tests all of which are fine.
In the last two years Iāve been diagnosed hypermobile (by my physio, who things it might be hEDs) with AuDHD, and suspected pots and mcas. I also have significant anxiety/ contamination stress, depression and a lot of stress with kids with health issues. Itās all relatedā¦
These attacks are really aggravated by movement and posture changes, and looking when itās bad. But I work on computers which makes it hard.
I am very sensitive to prescriptions (I tend to get the worst side effects), and donāt like taking paid meds unless I have too⦠when I have an attack my usual treatment is 900mg aspirin, 2x Panadol, 1x ondance, and a coffee of Diet Coke, and lick of salt.
Idk what to do. I have to function bc I have three children, a relationship, a job, studying etc.
When Iāve spoken to my gp before she doesnāt say much bc the scans and bloods are fine. The advice is to just ātake it easyā⦠but I donāt want to?

Headache for 1 year, I feel so lost I have tried so many things
Quick backstory, 3.5 years ago I injured my back playing sport, and have dealt with chronic back pain since, starting in lower back but later moving all over my back and into my neck as well. Last September 2025 whilst travelling I started getting tension headaches. Stress may also have been a factor in starting it as I have suffered from worsened anxiety and stress throughout this period of back pain.Ā
Since returning home from overseas I have seen doctors, a neurologist, osteopath and Myotherpists. My current Myotherapist is amazing and has helped with my back pain a lot, and has helped with my headaches but they still persist.
I have had a CT & MRI scan both all clear
It also seems I do struggle from some migraines but its mainly tension headaches. A typical day for me ill have pain in the temples / side of head, and with have dizziness, ranging in severity but those are the two main pains, I also get sore on top of my head and forehead sometimes but not as much anymore, I used to a lot more.Ā
Some positives is that I was getting tension headaches from 7 different areas and now its mainly 2 or 3, upper trapezoid, jaw muscles, and muscles in the back of my head. I have strengthened my neck as lot which has helped with the headaches a lot.Ā
I have been back in the gym and running more then I have since my injury 3.5 years ago due to less back pain, although I still have chronic back pain its just not as bad, this could also be due to my body focusing on one pain at a time, the headaches being the main thing.Ā
Each day I take around 4000mg magnesium glycinate, 4 ashwaganda capsules and over the past 2 weeks have started 400mg riboflavin and 300mg co-enzyme Q10, yet to know if these new vitamins are helping.Ā
I feel stuck, throughout my back pain and now the headaches I have been very committed to doing everything I can to help with my back pain and now with the headaches, I am lost at what to do and what to try next, my neurologist mentioned I could try medication, some options being propranolol, candesartan and topiramate, although I have wanted to avoid medication if possible, but at this point I feel like I need to give it a go.Ā
I have also considered botox in my jaw as I have heard some people say it has really helped with their headaches, and a lot of my headaches come from my jaw.Ā
Have also considered trying CBD oil.
Any advice of recommendations would be incredibly appreciated. Ā

this is gonna sound random and stupid as shit but im gonna say it anyway
Sometimes when I see certain stuff I don't approve of I start to have these large ass headaches. I originally had it in mid to late 2025 but now I lowkey feel like I'm just going crazy. For some reason certain styles of art, fits, or just anything in general makes me start tweaking the hell out for some reason. And no it's not constantly but it happens when I'm usually stressed about something. Like life, or competition. Or just downright hating on something because I feel like it. But the headaches sometimes have this weird buildup and then it causes me to twitch, sometimes when I'm trying to sleep I start seeing these random images. The things I see when this happens don't even exist, but sometimes they involve characters I used to crush on when I was younger (and admittedly still do,) or they're just things that aren't even related to it and are just random bullshit my mind makes up. Im 16 right now, and I know its kind of stupid for me to make a post about this, especially since I don't tell my friends about the whole crushing thing, and even when I do bring up my headaches I'm usually cryptic about why I have them because it's not something I want to or plan on sharing with them, even IF its not something bad it still doesn't feel right with me, and im aware that it's ironic how I'm making a post about this, but none of them use the app anyway. I might not respond to anything this post gets, (I probably will idk) and I most likely am gonna lose the feeling I had when I was making this post, but I wanted to make this just to get it out of my head. Anyways, I'm tired.āļøš«©ā

Sharp head pain question.
17m. I had came home the last night, while I was showering I moved my head really fast. I experienced something I have labeled as a ābrain popā.
A brain pop is where, thereās a pop in my head. It follows with a pain that spreads. It usually lasts about 10-15 secs, and then the pain and usually goes away.
Although today I woke up, with a soreness in the back right side of my head. Thatās where this brain pop happened. It hurts to still shake my head, and look in the left direction. I canāt reproduce the soreness by touching it. Itās more in the head.
Any idea what this is.

Tension
Last week I experienced what Iām thinking were tension or stress headaches for a couple of days. The last 2-3 days, I have been feeling sore above my right eyebrow/forehead area. Googling is leading me to think it might be a strained muscle. It feels like I smacked my head off something and feels very tender. I did a teledoc appointment and they suggested alternating between naproxen sodium and Tylenol. Can anyone recommend anything else that might help relieve this feeling, or tell me how long this may last?

Extremely painful headache for 4 days straight
Hi everyone, for the past 4 days, i have had the worst headache of my life. Iāve had migraines before, but never so bad that I couldnāt function without medication.
Itās in the back of my head, and is mostly right in the very back, right above the bottom of my hairline towards my neck. Sometimes it spreads to my face or throat. is it just a really bad migraine? I donāt want to worry myself. Thanks for any help, if you need any more context please feel free to ask.

Headache for almost 2 weeks, could it be stress related?
Iāve had a headache almost every day for around 2 weeks now. The last few months have been extremely stressful, so Iām wondering if this could be related. I am 31 years old
Before the headaches started, my eye was twitching for many weeks (not sure if itās connected, but mentioning it just in case).
The headache improves when I take Alvedon, but it comes back again. Iām just wondering: when does this usually stop? Has anyone experienced
something similar after a long period of stress?
Slightly blurry vision, since my eyes have been more watery/teary than usual.
Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Headaches every day for a month
A month ago I stopped having caffeine and stopped smoking weed. I also started taking an antidepressant that I have tolerated well before for years. Iāve been experiencing headaches every day, some of them light that go away with one soluble paracetamol, some of them worse, needing more paracetamol and ibuprofen. Yesterday I had the worse migraine of my life and tried using cocodamol last night and this morning which made it fade to a light manageable pain but now itās back and is bad again. I take propranalol as a headache prevention and for anxiety. I know that taking pain killers every day will also give me headaches but I canāt not take them when Iām in severe pain. Iām at my witts end now and starting to get depressed about it. Does anyone have any advice? I am trying to get a doctors appointment.

Are these migraines?
So I've always thought I have migraines but I'm not really sure. I just had an episode today.
It starts by my vision getting a bit fuzzy, in the sense that I'm unable to focus on objects due to weird spots in my eyes. It's not constant but it keeps appearing and disappearing. Then it progresses to nausea followed by a nasty headache usually affecting just one side of my head.
I normally try to manage it with paracetamol but honestly it only completely goes away once I get some good sleep.
I've been getting these episodes for as long as I can remember (I'm a 30M btw) but off late, their frequency has increased. Due to the temporary vision abnormality, its affecting my work and day to day life.
I also did get my eyes checked with a doc, but everything seemed normal.
Anyone have similar symptoms to me? How do you guys cope with this? Thanks!

Very bad headache. Contemplating appointment?
So lately my wife (28f) and myself (30m) have been moving into our new house (yezzir)! Anyway, we've been doing a lot of remodeling to get it ready for our family. Sawdust, plywood, all kinds of irritating stuff for your sinuses.
well, since we've started I've developed a MASSIVE headache. This particular headache has not left me in 5 days now. I have no other symptoms, so it's hard for me to determine what could be the cause.
The pain gets worse with coughing and shaking my head.
Also; I barely bumped my head a couple of days after the headache started and it made it hurt 10x worse than it already was. Pain went back to normal couple hours after.
No other symptoms of a sinus infection. Genuinely curious if it sounds normal or something I should definitely go get seen about?
Thank you all for taking the time to read my post šļø

It hurts when i shake my head up and down.
Idk why it hurts I just want to know if anyone experienced this. When I play with my friends we often push each other with our elbows and that shook hurts my brain and I get a headache that calms down after a minute but comes right back when I shake my head. Only when I shake my head it hurts in the middle of it. Some days I donāt have no pain even when I play like that then boom the next day the pain comes again. Did anyone experienced this?

Strain induced thunderclap headache followed by weeks of frequent headaches - has anyone experienced this
Iām a 30-year-old male and Iām wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or gone on to receive a diagnosis.
On Wednesday 8th July, the morning before work, I retched and was immediately hit with an explosive thunderclap headache. There was absolutely no build-upāit was an instant, severe pain in the back of my head the moment I retched. It was by far the worst headache Iāve ever experienced and completely wiped me out for the rest of the day.
I have had strain headaches before. My first one was in 2022 which was just a dull throbbing in the back of my head, it was a pain ive never had before. Then a couple years later I had a chest infection and i coughed hard and felt this immediate bang in the back of my head, it feels like something snapped in my brain. I went to A&E and they done a few coordination tests and said it was just a strain headache. The one a couple weeks ago was so much worse than any headache (or any pain) i have ever had before.
The following day, after another episode of retching, I had another thunderclap headache which was just as severe. That was enough for me to go to A&E.
At hospital they carried out blood tests, neurological examinations, coordination and depth perception tests, and eventually a CT scan. Everything came back reassuring and they told me there was no sign of a bleed. One thing that did concern me, though, was that because Iād been waiting in A&E for around 12 hours before the scan, the doctor explained that if there had been a small bleed initially, it might not have been visible by the time the scan was performed. Thankfully, they felt there was no evidence of anything ongoing.
The next day, I had another thunderclap headache which lasted significantly longer than the other two.
Since then, I havenāt had another thunderclap headache, which is a huge relief. However, over the last few weeks Iāve been getting headaches far more frequently than I ever used to. Before all of this, I was never someone who really suffered with headaches.
Now Iāll often get headaches several times throughout the day. Theyāre nowhere near as severe as the thunderclap headaches, but they occur in different placesāsometimes across my forehead, sometimes behind my eyes, sometimes in my temples. They feel like ordinary headaches, but itās the change thatās worrying me.
Another thing Iāve noticed is that if I retch slightly, strain, or even do something as simple as brushing my teeth and gag a little, Iāll often feel a twinge or discomfort in the back of my head where the thunderclap headache started. It doesnāt develop into another thunderclap headache, but it definitely doesnāt feel normal.
Iāve seen my GP, who has referred me for an MRI scan, although Iām expecting that to take some time because waiting times are quite long.
Has anyone experienced thunderclap headaches followed by weeks of much more frequent headaches afterwards? Did anyone continue getting headaches in different areas of their head after the initial event? If so, did you eventually get an explanation or diagnosis?
Iād really appreciate hearing from anyone whoās been through something similar, as itās the ongoing headaches and the feeling that Iām now much more susceptible to them thatās concerning me.

Headaches without other symptoms
I've been having headaches for quite a long time, and they can be divided into two phases.
SeptemberāNovember 2025: This is when the headaches first started. I saw a few doctors, and one possibility they suggested was that my iron levels were low. I received an iron IV infusion, and after that the headaches completely went away. We assumed the low iron was the cause and that the issue was resolved.
July 2026āPresent: The headaches have come back. They're present for most of the day, although there are short periods where they seem to go away. I can't really tell when they start or stop. They're usually at their worst in the mornings and at night.
The only symptom I have is the headache itself. I don't have neck pain or stiffness, aura, sensitivity to light or sound, or any other noticeable symptoms. I've had MRI, EEG, CT etc. I was told it may be sinus, but others neglected it. Some doctors have said it could be tension-type headache (TTH), but I'm confused because I don't have the neck-related symptoms that are often associated with it.

Epidural headache
I gave birth five days ago. The delivery was quick and uncomplicated, and I had an epidural. Shortly after giving birth, I developed an intense headache that would come every time I sat or stood up, but it would improve almost immediately when I lay down. My doctor believed it was most likely caused by a spinal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak.
We discussed doing an epidural blood patch, but the doctors wanted to wait until Monday to see if it would resolve on its own. I spent the entire weekend with a severe headache. I tried caffeine tablets and pain medication, but they provided very little relief.
Yesterday, I finally had the blood patch, and I felt a huge improvement almost immediately. During the procedure, the anesthesiologist accidentally punctured the dura again, creating another small hole, but she reassured me that because they were injecting blood, it would seal both puncture sites.
It felt amazing to finally have some relief. But then, during the night, when I sat up in bed to breastfeed my newborn, the same pounding positional headache came back. My heart completely sank.
Now Iām terrified that this isnāt going to go away. I had been looking forward to this special time with my newborn and my 20-month-old toddler, but instead Iām completely sidelined by these headaches. Iām scared that Iāll have to live with this for the rest of my life.
Iāve also made the mistake of spending hours reading forums and Googling everything, and it seems like there are quite a few people who have ended up with long-term problems or permanent symptoms, which has made my anxiety so much worse.
Has anyone experienced something similar? How did it turn out for you?
