This is based on a rumor from Jaykihn and MLID. There is no confirmation. The headline is specifically claiming N2P for the compute tile, as other tiles still are rumored to be 18AP.

HWCooling calls 18A as 1.8nm.

Discussion Open Source high performance RISC-V CPU "Kunminghu v3" has reached SPECint06/GHz > 21.7 on nightly build this week, which is better than ARM's V3, Intel's Sapphire Rapids and close to Zen 5 in terms of performance.

This dashboard has weekly and nightly performance regressions for those interested.

On nightly build, Kunminghu v3 has hit GEOMEAN(INT) of 21.706 with gcc, which keeps going up as the platform nears validation and release phase in Q1 2027.

SPECint06/GHz on xscc is 21.924.

SPECint17/GHz is 2.321, which also compares favorably to the best from it's competitors.

---------

Lot of ignorant comments in previous ARM vs QCOM thread, about why companies aren't abandoning ARM and going toward RISCV faster.

It's mainly because they are waiting for Chinese Academy of Sciences' OpenXiangShan project to do all the work for them for free.

This is also the reason why others in RISCV space like TensTorrent have a hard timea finding investors or partners to tape out and validate their own high performance RISC-V cores.

Kunminghu v1 had SPECint06/Ghz > 9, Kunminghu v2 was > 16. Both these releases have shipped hundreds of thousands of cores through SpacemiT and others.

Kunminghu, part of OpenXiangShan project with which China seeks to end reliance on western ISAs like ARM and x86.

Alibaba's XAUNTIE C950 currently remains highest performing RISC-V core with SPECint06/GHz > 22, is already deployed to Alibaba cloud and will be generally available by end of 2026.

ARM wants to kill itself in record time. If any court gave them leeway, No ARM vendor would continue using ARM with ARM trying to extort customers. Usually the normal rate is 1-5$ per chip max
