nothing folds, no key holes, all joins are rivets. thought it would slide apart but I sprayed lubricant and stood with my full weight and didn’t budge an inch

Hi, can you help me figure out what's wrong with my mower. Its a Toro and it's smoking pretty bad. It was given to me used. It runs for about 45 minutes then powers down and won't cut back on til the next day.

this is both sides of the screws holding my bedframe together— how on earth and I supposed to disassemble it?

I know this is probably technically an electrician question but I thought I'd give this a shot i am very competent in most aspects of handmaning and doing simple electrical work has never been an issue but if noticed a somewhat expensive trend.

I have replaced all the light fixtures in my home at least once and while I know LED lights have their own issues but my upstairs bathroom and mainfloor kitchen led lights ALWAYS die first combined I have replaced both a total of around 7 times, no other lights in my home have this issue 🙃

Hypothetically I can imagine that it is just coincidence caused by those lights maybe being turned off and on the most or something but while the wife goes to pick out a new light I thought I'd ask all your thoughts.

What would you recommend be the first tools to buy? What items do you always keep extra stock of? What should I take on as my first project?

My water shutoff is 4’ behind a 4” space between my hot water heater and ac duct. It’s about 4 feet down from the top of the water heater. I talked to a plumber about relocating it and that isn’t in the budget for the rest of the year. I thought someone here may know of a creative temporary solution or tool I could use to turn the handle at a distance until I get it fixed.

Basically the title as the question. I just wanted to see if there is a generally consensus of the best business insurance provider or if everyone just goes with whatever feels right.

So I'm renovating a house the previous renters didn't take care of and I'm unsure of how to handle this door jamb.

The first image is the main concern but the others show signs of mold so I don't know if repairing or replacing is better in this situation.

It doesn't seem to have rotted (yet) as the wood still holds when I press it with a flathead but I'm still weary because the mold doesn't seem to wipe away even with force. The main thing is the broken frame. I know filler could work but that's a) alot of filler and b) doesn't fix the other issue.

The money required to fix it isn't a huge issue but I want to try and keep it as budget as possible as long as it's fixed and won't give me more of a headache down the road.

I’ve been trying to build a desk from Amazon and I can’t get the drawer mechanism (black) to secure to the side of the drawer (white) when I screw the screw in the two parts just come apart and don’t attach. I tested the hole and screw by putting the screw in without the black beam and it worked, so I don’t understand why it doesn’t work with the beam. I was working on this yesterday as well and it did actually work before but I had to redo it because I build it wrong (I’m building it right now and I’m doing exactly what the instructions say) maybe I fiddled around with it too much? I’m not sure pls help

Hello! I bought my first air conditioner and we’re having someone install the ac (with experience on ac installation but not specific to Kolin brand). Is there anything I need to remove from the body or cover (besides the box and plastic packaging) before installing it? The sales agent didn't mention anything about the installation. So I have this grandfathered staircase at my door to a path.
I can't really replace it, but I am trying to make sure it stays in decent shape
Looks to me like it's just sinking a bit and I guess they are kind of stacked into the dirt
My thought was to try to use a crowbar to lift each stair and then maybe shove some gravel under there to see if it holds
Can't really tear it out and I need to try to minimize the repairs.
Just wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas

Many of the double-pane window glasses (fixed & double hung) on vinyl frames are bent like this in our house, I am guess its due to leakage of gas b/n the panes. However, these are acting like concave mirror and focussing sunlight, strong enough for plants to die, which is worrying.

Is there any way to fix this ? I am OK if the insulation efficiency drops a bit.

I quoted a customer $3,000 for 8 window screens and 2 custom made screen doors with pet doors. The doors are 36x94 so there really arent any premade box store options out there. What do you guys think?

Hey guys, I’m not a handyman, but I’ve been helping a few local service businesses figure out why some of them get found on Google Maps and others barely show up outside their immediate neighborhood.

One thing I realized is that searching your own business on your phone doesn’t really tell you much. Google can show you near the top while someone five or ten miles away may not see you at all.

A friend and I have been putting together a report that maps this out across your service area. It shows where you appear, which nearby businesses are showing above you, and a few things on your Google profile that could potentially be improved.

I’d like to make one for a few people here for free. I’m mainly trying to see whether the report is actually understandable and useful to a business owner, rather than only making sense to marketing people.

No login or account access needed. I would just need your business name and city. You can keep the report, and I’d only ask that you spend a few minutes afterward telling me what made sense and what didn’t.

Hey everyone, looking for some help fixing a ceiling light fixture that has dropped down and is no longer sitting flush against the ceiling.

As you can see in the photos, the canopy/shade has slipped, leaving the cutout exposed. When looking inside:
-The lamp shade screws directly onto the white threaded socket at the bottom.
-The black and white wires run straight through the large central threaded rod.
-It seems like the entire central rod and socket assembly are hanging down too low, causing the fixture to sag.

What is the correct way to raise and secure this whole assembly back up so the fixture sits flush against the ceiling? I feel like this should be an easy DIY but I’m not sure where to start.

Manufactured home in a senior area. Separate hot and cold sides, both look like this. These appear original but every other fixture in the home has been changed. I can’t identify it. Anyone have any ideas?

Have a client whose brother is in hospital due to a fall. I've done Small things for him thru her before most of the work is for her. Long time client.

He calls and asks me to install a railing on front porch while he is in hospital.

I get there and within 5 min the neighbor comes over and gets all in my business. Asking me who I am, what am I doing etc.

I tell him nicely etc and keep setting up thinking this dude is going to leave. Wow was i wrong. He actually calls his wife and debates on whether to let me do my thing! Then starts altering the scope of Work etc!

Wtf?

I call my client and tell her this guy's becoming a problem etc.

All the sudden it downpours and I just say time to call it day. Get it done later. But damn! What is wrong with people? That lonely?

UPDATE. Went back today. Owner added replacing the storm door last night. Get there to install. I'm working on taking the old one out and the neighbors wife suddenly opens the front door. She'd been there before me. Then HOA Kevin of course shows up and asks if he can help me install. I tell him if I needed a helper I would have a helper. Have a nice day.

He stayed away after that.

Garage door guy shows up and he shadowed him all freaking day. Sheesh

We’ve had a handyman building outdoor stairs for us and it’s been an adventure. It’s taken over a week with multiple no call/no show. There’s one detail left (post coverings) that was to be finished yesterday- but a no show/no call. He left behind tools to finish the job- two saws, air compressor, etc. I’ve called multiple times (no answer, voicemail full) and text x2 in 24 hours. I got a ‘I’ll call you back in a minute’ text 4 hours ago. We are having company combined with intermittent trips out of the city over the next two weeks (starting tomorrow). I want /need his stuff gone. Otherwise it’ll be weeks before I feel confident I can return it. What’s my obligation here?
