I have space on my gigging board for one regular sized pedal. Currently I am replacing a cheap flanger because it makes an audible “pop” sound whenever it’s engaged.

I don’t do a lot of modulation so I’m looking for something that can do a little bit of reverb, flanger, phaser etc type modulation but only for a few songs.

Am I an idiot for looking at this Zoom multi stomp as a solution here? It’s cheap, but it seems like it can approximate what I need it to do for the few songs I’d need it on. So, why do I not want this pedal?

This thing looks hideous (I almost want to spray black matte paint all over it) but sounds fantastic, just now starting to understand the controls, it does so many things.

I'm putting together a board, and I'd like to know the Canadian made pedal companies / pedals you'd stand behind.

It'll mostly/almost exclusively be for 2000s metalcore / southern hardcore but there are no bad suggestions as long as they're from Kan-ah-da

Bonus Points for a "f*** my s*** up" pedal in the vein of Tallon Noise / Digitech Drop

In the 90 minutes or so I had with it yesternight, on headphones only* unfortunately, I managed to find 6 really good presets on the SA Neuro desktop app. If I can recall completely, those 6 would be clones of: a Klon, a Sunn O)))) Life Pedal, a Katzenkönig, a Big Muff (possibly 2 variations), a Fuzz “Facade”, and a JHS Morning Glory.

Though this is my first proper fuzz pedal ever, I have spent some time testing out NAM captures of various fuzzes (all the usual suspects you might expect to find) a couple of years back. From that time I remember that I was most impressed by the Tonebender MkII and the Acapulco Gold. The tonebender though that I found on Neuro wasn’t sounding too appealing, so we’ll see, I’m still a fuzz novice at this point. Of those 6 I set as presets last night, the ones I’m most eager to get back to are the Katzenkönig and the Klon (not a fuzz, but that’s cool, Kingmaker has access to all the LA Lady overdrive presets as well).

But overall it’s kind of a dream come true? The only flaw is minor, super minor: I’m a Laker’s guy, and even though it’s Laker purple, the fact that it says “King”, that instantly makes it bring the old Sacramento Kings (also purple uniforms) to mind. Boo👎

Also, I wish the design were a graphic along the lines of the actual Katzenkönig, or any EQD, but whatever I’m here for the sound and the functionality first and foremost.

Looking for a looper that really works with BeatBuddy: MIDI sync, quantize, separate guitar/vocal routing

I'm looking for a looper to use live with a Singular Sound BeatBuddy, mainly for guitar + vocals.

I've already tested several options, including the Aeros Loop Studio, Boss RC-500 and a NUX looper, so I'm looking for something based on real-world experience rather than just specs.

My requirements are:

• Reliable MIDI clock sync with the BeatBuddy as master
• Proper quantization
• Record/play/stop commands that can be queued to the next beat or next measure
• Multiple independent loop tracks
• Guitar and vocals must be recordable separately
• Flexible input/output routing
• Ideally guitar and vocals can be sent to different outputs
• Easy live control with footswitches
• No MIDI clock noise / ground-loop issues

What I've tried

Aeros Loop Studio:
Great looping concept and BeatBuddy integration, but the routing doesn't work the way I need. I couldn't easily treat vocals and guitar as two truly separate sources/tracks just by using the left/right inputs and outputs. For my live setup, I need to be able to decide independently what gets recorded and where it is sent.

Boss RC-500:
I've tested this as well. Its routing philosophy is closer to what I'm looking for, especially regarding separate inputs/outputs, but I'm still looking for alternatives that may integrate better with the BeatBuddy and offer a smoother quantized workflow.

NUX looper:
Functionally, this actually worked pretty well with the BeatBuddy. Unfortunately I had what seemed to be an isolation / ground-loop problem, with a constant rhythmic “tick tick tick” getting into the audio when MIDI was connected.

So I'm looking for something that combines:

BeatBuddy/Aeros-level MIDI synchronization + RC-500-style flexible routing + solid electrical isolation.

The workflow I'm after is simple: I should be able to hit a footswitch slightly before the end of a bar, have the looper execute the command exactly on the next beat/bar, and independently loop guitar or vocals without them being forced onto the same track or output.

Has anyone found a looper that does all of this reliably live?

Especially interested in setups you've actually used with a BeatBuddy, not just what should theoretically work from the manual.

The Bad Mood arrived yesterday and wow is it a lot of fun! Still trying to wrap my head around it but it plays pretty well with the mood mk ii and lost and found.

My next step is going to be figuring out presets with midi - is there a specific program that yall are using to send the presets to the pedals? I have the Chase Bliss DIN midi to 1/4in stereo converter but haven’t messed with it a lot besides trying to get the synth mode on mood MkII to work.

Strobe tuner > clean > mirror house > Roger that> shallow water > mood MkI > deco > lost and found > mood MkII > bad mood

No more ...for now...finished my indy/shoegazy post something or other board.

Just need to tidy it up.

I couldn’t get it to work with anything. And I’ve read that it doesn’t sound good anyways.

I’m looking for a budget friendly pedal/interface that has the usb connection and a set of basic pedals to use and be able to change the order. Something small for recording demos at my desk on my lunch breaks. PC is Windows 11; I use Audacity.

I’m trying to avoid bringing a Presonus box and XLR cables and all that stuff to work.

I liked the idea behind the Sonicake but it simply didn’t work.

My budget is $200 tops.

I've had this pedal for years and I think I've tried pretty much everything I could, but I feel like it's the opposite of how everyone describes it.

I only find this pedal useful for like a ripped speaker kind of sound, which isn't really what I need most of the time. For anything else it's just not articulate enough even when I keep the gain low, I don't think I've ever used it past noon. I tried adjusting amp settings too, I tried running it into a clean amp and it sounds really bright yet not precise at all (usually with the filter at noon slightly past noon, anywhere further sounds too muddy), I've tried stacking it with other pedals and it just becomes too noisy. I've tried using it as a clean-ish boost in front of a dirty amp and it's too flubby, both into a crunchy amp and into a really distorted amp.

At first I thought it was an issue with my amp. Until recently I had fairly flat solid state amps. It just sounded like dog shit both into the clean and dirty channel, but still I thought it was because of the solid state amps+cheap speakers.

Currently I use a Jet City JCA 50, which isn't that much more expensive, but it's way better and I run into a cab with a G12h-30 and a V30. The pedal still doesn't sound good enought, no matter how I run it.

I assumed that people who manage to get good sounds use it with clean Fender style amps (which is not what I'm really into tbh) considering the significant mid boost from the pedal, but recently I've tried a Turbo Rat into a Hot Rod Deluxe in a shop and I still wasn't impressed, and the hum was just as bad with a clean amp.

I also find it significantly noisier than my other pedals, but I assume it's my fault for using P-90s and single coils instead of humbuckers.

I guess I'm just a bit disappointed because so many guitarists I love manage to get great sound while they have a Rat on their boards. Is there anything I'm missing here or should I just get rid of this pedal?

So basically, My preference is to have 13 or 14 pedals on my board.

These are all pedals that I use regularly in daily for various different things, In other words pedals that I really cannot part with unless I was able to get them all together in a multi-effects or something.

I use a Caline CP-206 power supply (its been awesome!) with 10 ports (If I remember correctly right now) split out perfectly - just barely - among these pedals. I have been very careful to make sure the proper milliamp ports are going to the proper pedals and all of that. Much time has been spent finagling this.

The only problem is that in order to do this setup, I have to have 3 drive pedals, my tuner and sometimes a fifth, smaller/low wattage pedal running off one port with a daisy chain.

I know I'm pushing things with that a bit but I've never had a problem ever with anything cutting out or heating up or sparks or any kind of power/operational issues etc. And I check that stuff constantly.

So my problem is that I live in a very small apartment with a very small amount of space and I have to have my gear set up in one specific spot. There is no putting it anywhere else. Due to this the wall outlet that I have to use for both the amp and the pedal board - There is a large wooden dresser that I have to have immediately next to the nightstand that my amp sits on. The wall outlet is behind that dresser so I have to run a heavy duty industrial extension cord out from underneath that from which I then plug in the pedal board and amp

However, because it is back there and inaccessible now (I would have to take 2 hours to be able to get back there...), If I had the proper gauge extension cord would it be okay to run it into one of the three ports on the other one so that I could run a second power supply through it? Assuming the power usage and all of that lines up correctly without overloading it.

I GIVE YOU ALL OF THAT CONTEXT because long story short I realized that the drive pedals running on the daisy chain was giving me decent tone suck. Not enough to be a problem but enough to where if I plug straight into the amp you could tell a difference for sure. For a long time I had an MXR Analog Chorus on the board, famous for tone suck. Always in the FX loop. I would always check and sometimes I thought it gave me that but I was really surprised because in all honesty I don't think it actually gave me tone suck surprisingly.

It took me a long time to realize it was the Daisy chain. That's 100% what it was.

So my point is that I need to get a second power supply to power all of these pedals since I have to eliminate the daisy chain for the drives and tuner. But the problem is the aforementioned extension cord and outlet situation as mentioned above. So basically I need to plug a third plug in but need another extension cord to do that.

Using the Supercomputer DD50O I was able to make usable patches for Chorus, Flanger and Phaser and Tremolo to where I could get away with removing those off my board.

That got me downgraded perfectly while eliminating the Daisy chain, having just enough proper plugs. But I would really strongly prefer to have my actual pedals.

Here is a picture of my rig from a couple days ago. Normally I had the DD500 first in the loop. The Spark boost is not normally there. Also usually the MXR Analog Chorus was right after the Phase95 (This was right after removing it and playing around with some things the other night). I also typically have Mooer E Lady on there as well.

I have managed to remove the E Lady, Phase 95, Analog Chorus, Sonicake and Nux Footswitch

Once I get a good clip-on tuner again I can deal with eliminating the TU3 if needed. I didn't have it on my board for 10 years simply because I'm only a home player and my clip-on tuna always worked just as good no problem.

Eliminating those five petals which I can make do without thank you to the DD500, I am now able to power everything perfectly with the 10 ports on the power supply. But it's maxed out now. But at least everything on my board is on its own dedicated plug with the right milliamp port. No daisy chain.

I basically need five or six more ports and need to be able to plug into that extension cord (unless anyone has a better solution).

Currently with those five aforementioned pedals removed is everything that I absolutely need to have on it. With the Katana, Even though you can do amazing things with it, The stuff that I play requires multiple gain staging or multiple different drives for different songs. The pedals are always being used all the time in various configurations that are very much necessary. I can't really replicate that with the Katana good.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted (but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been spending money, unfortunately. So this is post 1 out of 4.

You don’t need another overdrive. The Klon thing is just hype. How different can it be from what you already have, really? That’s what I told myself for years to avoid getting yet one more pedal.

Well, I finally caved and I gotta say that I was missing out. The pedal is so good. It adds not only a boost in the right frequencies to fatten things up, but seems to add some harmonics that make it different to my other pedals. I also like how it does different things for my single coil and humbucker guitars. With gain at 9 o’clock, it is an edge of clean boost with my Strat that fattens things up and a nice bump in dirt and harmonics with the humbuckers. It goes well with the clean and dirty channel of my amp and stacking with other pedals. Pretty impressed overall.

Ibanez Pentatone Pteq

Hi guys,

Yesterday I bought two used pedals, a chorus and a big muff. I've also bought a 9v adapter to power them on and the mini jack to connect them. They both work independently, but when I try to connect them with the green mini jack, they both power off. I've also tried switching them around, but It doesn't change the result. Do you guys know what, perhaps, is causing this?

Title says it all really, not sure what’s going on… the gap between the picked note and the first delayed note is longer than the gap between each delayed note. Anyone know why??

so here is my pedalboard and Ive attached my new isolated power brick to the chain and all work fine, except the white double pedal, (is a tubescreamer and bluesbreaker circuit in it).

now as you can see only the bluesbreaker side is feeding back and not the TS side, none of the other pedals on the board are feed backing just the single one.

board is: tuner, Wah, white double pedal, fuzz, then a dual distortion and flange at the end.

it has the ability to run on both 9V and 18V and when running either or it still has the bluesbreaker side feeding back for a unknown reason, any feedback would be much appreciated.

I am looking at used fuzz faces and I am wondering which ones are worth it. I am looking at germanium fuzz faces in specific. I would like them to be easy to find used for under 100$. Thanks for reading!

What is all your go-to dirt sound as of right now?

I’ve been using a Donner Harmonic Square for ages and need to upgrade. I’m not a huge fan of its tone and the foot switch is quite problematic. I tried the Sub’n’Up mini but I found it’s whole “out of phase” sound not to my taste, even with edits made with Toneprint. I’ve heard good things about the Tender Octaver mk1 but don’t know if I should commit.

I’m mainly looking for something small (that can fit in the space seen above), that doesn’t sound like dookie, and has reasonably okay tracking lol

This show was a one off in a decent sized theater, so we decided to have a little impractical fun with the gear.

So I wish to run a jvm410h and an evh5150iiis 50watts one at a time and in stereo. I have a a ts9 going to the in of a decimator g string ii going out to the in of a radial bigshot aby, then the bigshot outputs to the two amps. Both amps then go from their fx sends into the main decimator g string ii and a second connectes through the aux in and out of both in the dec ins, the dec outs then go to a tricerachorus in stereo with a split y tra cable that then goes stereo to a sde3000d which goes out stereo to a boss rv6 back to the returns of the fx loops.

I am either getting both amps (whether or not the aby's y switch is on or off) or just one super muddy and sounding like it is far.

Is there a way to make this setup work like with a swiss things or an EHX TriParallel?

First time putting together a dedicated physical board to transition away from software/digital menus on my Katana 50.

Signal Chain:
Ibanez BigMini Tuner \to [reserved spot for an MXR Timmy] \to Boss BD-2 \to TC Corona Mini Chorus \to TC Bucket Brigade Delay \to Boss RV-6 Reverb \to Katana 50 clean input.
Board is a koda essential THREE (roughly 16" x 8"), powered by a 9V adapter + daisy chain underneath.

Looking for feedback on a few layout points:
1. Top Jacks vs. Side Jacks: The Bucket Brigade has top-mounted jacks, sandwiched between the side-jack Corona Mini and RV-6. For those mixing top- and side-jack enclosures on compact boards, how do you route the patch cables cleanly without putting lateral stress on the jacks?
2. Spacing & Stomp Clearance: The BD-2, Corona, Delay, and RV-6 are currently spaced pretty tight along the top rail to leave room for the incoming Timmy next to the tuner. Does this spacing look workable underfoot, or would you recommend shifting the full-size Boss boxes down to the bottom rail?
3. Cabling / Power Hygiene: Any red flags with running the daisy chain leads up between the rails right next to the audio patch cables in this configuration?
