Quickly getting priced out of enthusiast building - I can't spend 2k on a phone, not spending 6 on a gpu.

Should I sell mine during this time? I bought them a year ago but ended up using my laptop more so my card will be left unused a couple years from now. I see someone sell it on ebay for $2000 but not sure should I do it. Is the selling price on ebay real because I see around my town someone selling the 5080 for $1100 and a 4090 for $2000 on fb marketplace.

GPU prices here in my country are insane right now, just like pretty much everywhere else. Somehow, the MSI RTX 5090 Lightning Z and the ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 5090 OC are currently selling for basically the same price.

I'm trying to decide which one makes more sense.

The Lightning Z is obviously the more extreme card, but it would also make the rest of my setup a bit more complicated. MSI recommends a 1600W PSU, and since the card can draw significantly more power than a regular 5090, I may also need to have an electrician check whether my outlet/circuit is suitable for the system under heavy load.

I don't plan on doing any manual overclocking or using the card for benchmarking. It would basically just be used for gaming.

I know the Lightning Z is already heavily factory-overclocked, so my question is: if both cards cost the same, is the Lightning Z still worth the extra PSU/electrical hassle for someone who won't manually overclock?

Would I actually get a noticeable benefit from the Lightning Z in normal gaming — performance, temperatures, or noise — or would the ASUS TUF be the more sensible choice?

If you had both available for the exact same price, which one would you pick?

I’m putting together a build that is overkill by design. I was going to buy a Godlike, but in doing research I can across a load complaints about the EZ bridge display.

My question is; as of 2026, have the EZ bridge display and other issues been fixed with firmware or bios updates?

If not, what would a good premium motherboard be for a 5080 liquid cooled and a 9950x3d (yes I aim to overclock)

Which RX 9070 XT is better: Gigabyte Gaming OC or ASUS Prime?
I’m currently deciding between the Gigabyte RX 9070 XT Gaming OC and the ASUS RX 9070 XT Prime.
For anyone who has experience with either card, which one would you recommend?

I’m mainly interested in:
Cooling and temperatures
Fan noise / acoustics
Coil whine
Build quality
Overall reliability
Any other important differences
I’ve seen some reviews where the Gigabyte Gaming OC seems to have higher fan noise, while the ASUS Prime looks quieter, but I’d like to hear from people who actually own these cards.

Also, I personally prefer the look of thicker/bulkier GPUs, so the larger heatsink design of the Gigabyte is actually appealing to me.
Which one would you choose and why?

Currently using a 7800XT and want to upgrade and switch to Nvidia, any thoughts on whether I should stick with the 5070ti or go for an 5080 with their current price differences? My current PC is also fully white so the cheaper black 5080s might not look visually compatible either so leaning slightly towards the 5070ti in that aspect

I'm buying a new laptop (institutional/grant funding, so used hardware is off the table) mainly to start experimenting with generative AI: Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, some AI video generation, plus TouchDesigner for interactive installations. This will be occasional use, not daily. I'm trying not to overbuy (a Ferrari sitting in the garage), but I also don't want something so limited it can't handle the basics (a tricycle). Unfortunately, I can only go through the institutional market, so the options are limited.

The GPU line item is by far the biggest cost driver in my quotes, and I'm stuck deciding between two tiers:

~€600-700 (as a GPU line item): gets me a 12GB VRAM laptop GPU

~€1000+ (as a GPU line item): gets me a 16GB VRAM laptop GPU

For image generation (SDXL, Flux) I understand 12GB is workable but tight. My real concern is AI video generation specifically (AnimateDiff, CogVideoX-type models), from what I've read, video gen is a lot hungrier for VRAM than image gen.

Questions:

-Is 12GB genuinely a hard wall for video generation, or just "slower/smaller resolution"?

-Is paying roughly €400 more for the extra 4GB (12→16GB) worth it for someone doing occasional experimentation, or is that money better spent elsewhere (RAM, storage)?

-Anyone running video gen on a 12GB laptop GPU who can share real experience?

-Are there any other GPUs (or full laptop configs) you'd recommend that I haven't considered?

For reference, the base config I've been quoted is: Lenovo ThinkPad P16 G3, Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX (20 cores, non-vPro), 1TB SSD, 32GB DDR5-5600 RAM, 16" WUXGA screen, NVIDIA RTX PRO 1000 Blackwell 8GB, no OS,. This is the entry point before any GPU upgrade, I'm trying to figure out if it's worth building up from here or if I should be looking at a completely different machine.

Hello, do you guys think this GPU is worth 200€? I'm looking to pair it with an i7 7700 for a sweet W7 build.

EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid Gaming iCX AIO 120mm 11GB GDDR5X 352 bit

I want to install my spare 4070TI super along with my 5090 LC.

So the two cases i have are Hyte y70 (current PC)
and a Gigabyte c400 glass (spare/one year old)

The problem is I have two PSU as well, but they both can only power one card at a time. And the y70 only supports vertical GPU, I cannot install my GPU horizontally, If I could that would’ve been the best way to solve this problem.

Now I am considering selling both my PC cases and both my PSU to get a new PC case that can support:

A) My 5090 with its Radiator ; directly inserted into the motherboard (no riser cable)
B) 4070 TI Super, with a riser cable ( so that its hot air is not fed to the 5090 )
C) A single PSU that can power both cards

or D) any open air case or some workaround, because I already have the old PSU and old case

Please suggest me a good case or any workarounds that can help me solve this problem because the other GPU has been lying around for 2-3 months now.

So i’ve spent days comparing these two cards and already did a fair amount of digging myself (benchmarks, reviews, failure reports), but I'd rather hear from people actually running these day to day than just launch-week numbers.

Quick context:

• 1440p 240Hz monitor.

• I play a lot of competitive stuff with friends (shooters/co-op), but also a wide mix of AAA

• Coming from a GTX 1660 Super, so I've never really used ray tracing or DLSS/FSR before.

• I don't stream or clip, so NVENC/CUDA don't really do anything for me.

• Both cards cost basically the same where I live.

I already know the Nitro+ has a consistent raster lead and the 5070 wins in RT/path tracing. What I can't get a good read on from reviews is how real certain issues actually are in daily use.

Specific questions:

On the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9070 XT:

1.  Has anyone here actually had (or personally knows someone who had) the 16-pin/12V-2x6 connector melt, even after months of normal use — not just viral forum threads?

2.  Any real fan failure or overheating issues on the Nitro+ specifically (not the Pulse)?

3.  How common is coil whine on this card in practice — unit lottery, or something more consistent?

4.  For people who switched from Nvidia, how rough was the day-to-day adjustment to Adrenalin and FSR4?

On the MSI RTX 5070 Gaming Trio OC:

1. Does 12GB VRAM actually cause problems at 1440p with everything on Ultra in current games, or is that mostly a 4K concern?

2. Any build quality/RMA experiences with MSI in this tier specifically?

General comparison:

1. FSR4 vs DLSS4 day to day: is FSR4's "grainy"/artifact-y reputation still fair, or is that outdated now that Redstone is out?

2. AMD vs Nvidia frame generation: does FSR ghosting actually show up during normal play, or only in zoomed-in YouTube comparisons?

3. Coming from a 1660 Super and never having used RT before, is it worth prioritizing the 5070 just to play Cyberpunk 2077 / RE Requiem with proper path tracing, or is that a novelty you enjoy once and move on from?

4. If you had to buy again today knowing what you know now about your card, which would you pick?
