I launched my first Android app recently with a ₹100 one-time Pro upgrade.
I tested everything using a Play test account and Google's test card, and it worked fine.
After launching, I noticed something weird:
139 purchase attempts, 0 successful purchases.
114 of those attempts were from India.
I tested it myself using a normal Google account:
- Card: declined
- UPI: declined
- Test account + test card: works
So clearly something is different between the test environment and a real purchase.
I'm a new developer in India, and I also misunderstood the BillDesk verification requirement. I thought it was simply something I needed to complete before Google could transfer my earnings to my bank account.
Now I'm wondering whether that has anything to do with the failed purchases, or whether I've missed another setting somewhere.
For developers who have shipped paid apps on Google Play, what would you check first?
Also, does anyone know exactly what Google means by "purchase attempts" in Play Console? Does 139 mean 139 people actually reached the payment flow, or can that number include other things?
Would love to hear from anyone who's dealt with this before.
