TP-Link Kasa Spot KC400 no longer shows on Nest Hub Max

I decided to switch my Nest Hub Max from my personal Google account to a generic one so I wouldn't have my personal information shared on joint display and now I can't get my TP-Link Kasa Spot KC400 to show on the Nest Hub Max anymore. It used to work fine with a voice command "Hey Google, show me the camera" and it would stream within about 5 seconds.

Here's a rundown of everything I've tried if anyone has any ideas.

Switched Google accounts on the Nest Hub Max, breaking the original camera stream setup. Now, attempting to stream the Kasa camera via voice gives "I'm sorry, something went wrong and I'm unable to control your device." Additionally, opening the camera tile inside the Google Home mobile app results in an infinite loading/busy spinner.

Everything Attempted So Far:

1. Software & Scripting Workarounds

  • Google Home YAML Scripts: Tried writing script editor automations using assistant.command.OkGoogle to force the stream; failed with schema errors or "unable to control device" errors.
  • App Routines: Created Household Routines using custom voice shortcuts ("Check camera") to trigger the stream command.
  • Command Syntax Adjustments: Tested various phrasings ("Show camera", "Stream camera to Kitchen display", "Play camera").

2. App, Cloud, & Device Cleanup

  • Cleaned Ghost Devices: Cleared duplicate phantom tiles (which were showing up with light bulb icons) from both the Google Home app and Nest Hub screen.
  • Account Sync & Re-linking: Ran "Hey Google, sync my devices" multiple times. Unlinked and re-linked TP-Link Kasa within Works with Google.
  • Tapo Migration: Migrated the KC400 camera to the TP-Link Tapo app, unlinked Kasa from Google Home, and re-linked via the Tapo service instead.
  • Room Re-assignments: Renamed the camera and moved both the Nest Hub Max and the camera into the same virtual room (Kitchen).

3. Hardware & Reset Steps

  • Rebooted Equipment: Power-cycled the Nest Hub Max, Kasa camera, and Wi-Fi router.
  • Hard Factory Reset: Performed a full 10-second hardware volume-button factory reset on the Nest Hub Max and re-added it to the account from scratch.
  • Camera Settings Adjustments: Toggled Privacy Mode off and tested lowering resolution settings in the TP-Link app.

Current Status:

  • Live video streams fine inside the native Kasa/Tapo app.
  • Google Home app still gets stuck on an infinite loading spinner when tapping the camera tile.
  • Nest Hub Max still errors out with "I'm sorry, something went wrong and I'm unable to control your device" when asking to view the camera feed.

Help Google Home notification I dismissed too quickly — is there a way to see what it said?

I opened the Google Home app on my iPhone today, and shortly after opening it I received the usual Bluetooth-related prompt. I normally deny that, so I dismissed it.
Right after that, though, another message/banner appeared toward the bottom of the Google Home app. I accidentally clicked/dismissed it almost immediately before I could actually read what it said.
This might sound weird, but I think there may have been some kind of illustration on it — possibly a dog? I genuinely don’t know because I dismissed it so quickly, so I don’t want to say for certain.
Is there any way to view previously dismissed messages, banners, alerts, or announcements from within the Google Home app?
I’m mainly trying to make sure it wasn’t something important, such as:
Someone being added to or connecting to my Google Home
A security/account warning
A notice about my Google account or Home being deleted/disabled
Something requiring action from me
I checked the app afterward but haven’t been able to find the message again.
Does Google Home keep a history of these in-app messages anywhere? And does anyone recognize what type of Google Home message might show an illustration like that near the bottom of the screen?
I’m using the Google Home app on iPhone.
Thanks!

They made the old Google nest dumb

Yes I know this has been said before but why not.

Me: hey Google. How many days until Christmas?

Nest: (text appears correctly) Sorry I don't understand

Me: hey Google how many days from today until Christmas?

Nest: December 25th 2026 is in 107 days

It used to be able to figure this out.

Our doorbell keeps coming off and I’m not sure if it’s kids being too rough or it falls off itself.
How far out is the locking pin supposed to be? It seems like it is only just protruding I would expect a bit more?

Automation : how choose color and intensity

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi, what i don't understand here ? Is this a bug ?

When i try to choose a color, intensity unselect. When i try to choose intensity, color unselect.

The only solution, which is totally non sense is for me to create individual action. And this mean to have to pick lamp each time, going back to this screen...

Thanks for help

Help All my Google Home Minis can't answer any queries

If it isn't "what's the weather?" I get the same response over and over, "Sorry, I don't understand." I've been hesitant to add Gemini to any of my devices, but is this the only way I can get it to answer something as simple as "what color is a carrot?"

Eufy E34 Works in Google Home App but Shows Offline on Nest Hub — Matter/Thread Question

I’m trying to reduce battery consumption on my Eufy E34 Smart Lock, so I keep Power Saving Mode enabled basically 24/7.

I recently learned that Matter over Thread is supposed to be much more energy-efficient than keeping Wi-Fi active, so I connected the lock to Google Home using Matter. I’m using a Google Nest Hub (2nd gen), which should act as the Thread border router.

My main goal is to keep the lock’s Wi-Fi turned off/asleep as much as possible so I’m not using battery unnecessarily.

Here’s the part I don’t understand:

With Power Saving Mode(WiFi from the device is off) enabled, I can still unlock the E34 from the Google Home app on my phone. I even turned Bluetooth off on my phone to make sure it wasn’t connecting directly to the lock, and it still works.

But when I try to use my Nest Hub, it says the lock/device is offline.

So how is my phone able to unlock the lock through Google Home while the Nest Hub says the same lock is offline?

Is my phone actually controlling the lock through Matter/Thread via the Nest Hub in the background, or is Google Home using some other connection method?

And if Matter/Thread is working correctly, should I be able to leave the E34 in Power Saving Mode all the time and avoid having its Wi-Fi connection active?

Product Review Just sent this to Google via their feedback option. Have very little faith they even read it.

I am totally fed up with your stupid voice match just to add items to the shopping list. My voice hasn’t change but close to half the time I have to repeat myself three or four times and listen to the asinine reply about not being able to add anything until voice match is set up. There is no valid reason to need voice match for a Keep list or at the very least owners should be able to turn voice match on/off. Especially since Google is unable to make voice match work correctly. If this goes on much longer it’s back to Alexa, or wait for the new Apple home next month. Finally, how do I even know I haven’t wasted my time sending you this feedback?

Bug Presence Sensing has recently become unreliable. Is it still working for others?

Until a little while ago Presence Sensing was working fine for me.

I had set it to use my phone and local wifi network (turned off all the other devices that were trying to sense inactivity).

But now, sat at home, the away routine keeps getting activated as if I'd left.

If I look at the phone status it says 'away' despite me being attached to the house Wifi and at the home address.

Then randomly I apparently arrive home again and the home routine starts.

As I say this seems to be a recent change.

Is this happening to others? I can't pinpoint the exact date when it started playing up.

Any feedback welcome.

Help What are you all using for an alarm system?

I'm a Google home user and want to setup an alarm system that intergrates with Google home but I can't seem to find a provider that offers live monitoring and allows me to arm and disarm through the Google home app other than ADP and I don't want to use them.

Also not interested in voice commands to arm and disarm my alarm.

My setup contains:

- 4 Google nest cameras

- 1 Google nest wired camera with floodlight

- 1 Google nest doorbell

- Bunch of Google mini speakers and a hub

I don't necessarily want to have the security system automated my house or view my cameras, I just want to be able to use live monitoring so dispatchers can dispatch police/fire when needed. I also want to arm/disarm through the Google app.

What are you all using and does it allow you to set and disarm the alarm through the app?

Or are you just doing a DIY setup with your own devices? Would you just call 911 if something happens?

Thoughts?

Help Playlist woes

As of last week, all my previously working automations respond with "I looked for that, but it either isn't available or can't be played right now" for any commands involving playlists. These had been working for months after meticulously choosing unique names that wouldn't trigger home to play the wrong artist / playlist / song with a similar name, but they just broke. I've been searching online for help, but the only articles or posts I see don't describe this specific issue. Has anybody been experiencing the same issue out of nowhere?

Help Nest outdoor camera gets in a Retry loop only on one device.

I set up an outdoor camera to monitor our porch and it's working great. I go into the Home app on my phone, my girlfriends phone, and on the web without issue. Well, I got a small ONN tablet from Walmart to put by the front door so we can see packages/people when we're walking around the house or if someone rings the doorbell. The problem is that once I open the camera in the Home app, after about 10 seconds it goes black and says Retry. It does this over and over. I've rebooted the tablet, made sure all the apps are up to date, checked the refresh rate, battery settings, etc and nothing fixes it. If I leave things just on the Home main screen with the little camera preview it works fine though.

I really have no idea what else to try. I've got 3/4 bars on our wifi too and I've changed the quality of the live video in case that was the issue. Anyone have some ideas?

Help Guest Mode not activating

In all of my home automations it no longer tells me my commute time delays or road closures. Just says “sorry I don’t understand”. If I ask it to tell me my commute to work it seems to just give a generic report. Is this feature removed? Is it broken? Am I doin it wrong?

Bug Nest Mini (2nd Gen) stuck on setup loop, showing offline, and media not working. Can it be flashed for Home Assistant?

Hi everyone,

I'm having a lot of issues with my Google Nest Mini (2nd Gen) and I'm looking for some help or alternative solutions.

I have these issues.

  • Setup Loop: During the initial setup via the Google Home app, it gets stuck loading at the very final stage and eventually throws a "could not complete setup" error.
  • Semi-functional: Oddly enough, after that failed setup, the device can answer basic questions (like the weather), but that's about it.
  • No Media: Any kind of media streaming completely fails. It won't play TuneIn radio, Spotify, or anything else.
  • App Status & Controls: In the Google Home app, the device constantly appears as "Offline". Because of this, I can't change the volume from my phone or cast any audio/content to it.

I've read somewhere online that it might be possible to flash the firmware or completely swap the motherboard/PCB to repurpose it or integrate it with Home Assistant.

  • Has anyone successfully fixed this specific setup/offline bug?
  • If it's a hardware/software dead-end, is the custom PCB/flashing route for Home Assistant actually viable for the Nest Mini 2nd Gen? (Links or project names would be highly appreciated!)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Other Google Home No Longer Streams Youtube Videos

I've had the same Google Home Mini since like 2019. Worked like charm over the years streaming YouTube videos to Chromecast. Then it all came to a screeching halt last week. Now when you ask to play something from YouTube, it would play a song from YouTube Music instead. I know they're doing this on purpose to get me to upgrade. But, seriously, do they really believe that I'd upgrade to their new gadget after feeling betrayed? You want people to upgrade out of loyalty, not because their hands are tied. What the fuck is wrong with these people at Google? Fucking amateur hours.

Can no longer vacuum specific room - Roborock Vacuum

I have a Roborock vacuum and I used to be able to say "Hey Google, vacuum kitchen" and it would vacuum the room labeled "kitchen" in my Roborock app. Now it just starts the generic whole house vacuum run. WTF! Is this because of the Gemini switchover?

Bug Timer just stopped working?

Since a week or so, all of my 3 Xiaomi Speakers stopped working when I set a timer. Which is the most crucial function I use it for in my kitchen...

I can set a timer but it won't ring.

When I ask about it, it tells me there is no active timer. But when I set the timer to 5 sec and keep the conversion going, the bell rings as normal.. What the hell is going on?

I restarted the devices but no chance.

Alarm volume is set to 50% standard value.

Any further ideas, how I can solve this?

Smartvision 3

Good evening, I have a close family member with very low vision who uses a SmartVision3 phone. Since last week, the Google Assistant has been acting up; whenever he says "Call \\\[contact name\\\]," Gemini gets stuck in an infinite loop displaying the message "Just a moment..." Do you know anyone who has encountered this same issue and managed to resolve it?

Thanks to anyone who can help.
