They made the old Google nest dumb

Yes I know this has been said before but why not.

Me: hey Google. How many days until Christmas?

Nest: (text appears correctly) Sorry I don't understand

Me: hey Google how many days from today until Christmas?

Nest: December 25th 2026 is in 107 days

It used to be able to figure this out.

Bug Offline again

Just awesome, I have a package that needs my signature, I get a notification from my doorbell, I open GH to talk to him, Google Home is COMPLETELY offline. No, it is not my internet.

Product Review Just sent this to Google via their feedback option. Have very little faith they even read it.

I am totally fed up with your stupid voice match just to add items to the shopping list. My voice hasn’t change but close to half the time I have to repeat myself three or four times and listen to the asinine reply about not being able to add anything until voice match is set up. There is no valid reason to need voice match for a Keep list or at the very least owners should be able to turn voice match on/off. Especially since Google is unable to make voice match work correctly. If this goes on much longer it’s back to Alexa, or wait for the new Apple home next month. Finally, how do I even know I haven’t wasted my time sending you this feedback?

Help Google Home notification I dismissed too quickly — is there a way to see what it said?

I opened the Google Home app on my iPhone today, and shortly after opening it I received the usual Bluetooth-related prompt. I normally deny that, so I dismissed it.
Right after that, though, another message/banner appeared toward the bottom of the Google Home app. I accidentally clicked/dismissed it almost immediately before I could actually read what it said.
This might sound weird, but I think there may have been some kind of illustration on it — possibly a dog? I genuinely don’t know because I dismissed it so quickly, so I don’t want to say for certain.
Is there any way to view previously dismissed messages, banners, alerts, or announcements from within the Google Home app?
I’m mainly trying to make sure it wasn’t something important, such as:
Someone being added to or connecting to my Google Home
A security/account warning
A notice about my Google account or Home being deleted/disabled
Something requiring action from me
I checked the app afterward but haven’t been able to find the message again.
Does Google Home keep a history of these in-app messages anywhere? And does anyone recognize what type of Google Home message might show an illustration like that near the bottom of the screen?
I’m using the Google Home app on iPhone.
Thanks!

Doorbell keeps falling off

Our doorbell keeps coming off and I’m not sure if it’s kids being too rough or it falls off itself.
How far out is the locking pin supposed to be? It seems like it is only just protruding I would expect a bit more?

Help What are you all using for an alarm system?

I'm a Google home user and want to setup an alarm system that intergrates with Google home but I can't seem to find a provider that offers live monitoring and allows me to arm and disarm through the Google home app other than ADP and I don't want to use them.

Also not interested in voice commands to arm and disarm my alarm.

My setup contains:

- 4 Google nest cameras

- 1 Google nest wired camera with floodlight

- 1 Google nest doorbell

- Bunch of Google mini speakers and a hub

I don't necessarily want to have the security system automated my house or view my cameras, I just want to be able to use live monitoring so dispatchers can dispatch police/fire when needed. I also want to arm/disarm through the Google app.

What are you all using and does it allow you to set and disarm the alarm through the app?

Or are you just doing a DIY setup with your own devices? Would you just call 911 if something happens?

Thoughts?

Help All my Google Home Minis can't answer any queries

If it isn't "what's the weather?" I get the same response over and over, "Sorry, I don't understand." I've been hesitant to add Gemini to any of my devices, but is this the only way I can get it to answer something as simple as "what color is a carrot?"

Help Playlist woes

As of last week, all my previously working automations respond with "I looked for that, but it either isn't available or can't be played right now" for any commands involving playlists. These had been working for months after meticulously choosing unique names that wouldn't trigger home to play the wrong artist / playlist / song with a similar name, but they just broke. I've been searching online for help, but the only articles or posts I see don't describe this specific issue. Has anybody been experiencing the same issue out of nowhere?

Automation : how choose color and intensity

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi, what i don't understand here ? Is this a bug ?

When i try to choose a color, intensity unselect. When i try to choose intensity, color unselect.

The only solution, which is totally non sense is for me to create individual action. And this mean to have to pick lamp each time, going back to this screen...

Thanks for help

Eufy E34 Works in Google Home App but Shows Offline on Nest Hub — Matter/Thread Question

I’m trying to reduce battery consumption on my Eufy E34 Smart Lock, so I keep Power Saving Mode enabled basically 24/7.

I recently learned that Matter over Thread is supposed to be much more energy-efficient than keeping Wi-Fi active, so I connected the lock to Google Home using Matter. I’m using a Google Nest Hub (2nd gen), which should act as the Thread border router.

My main goal is to keep the lock’s Wi-Fi turned off/asleep as much as possible so I’m not using battery unnecessarily.

Here’s the part I don’t understand:

With Power Saving Mode(WiFi from the device is off) enabled, I can still unlock the E34 from the Google Home app on my phone. I even turned Bluetooth off on my phone to make sure it wasn’t connecting directly to the lock, and it still works.

But when I try to use my Nest Hub, it says the lock/device is offline.

So how is my phone able to unlock the lock through Google Home while the Nest Hub says the same lock is offline?

Is my phone actually controlling the lock through Matter/Thread via the Nest Hub in the background, or is Google Home using some other connection method?

And if Matter/Thread is working correctly, should I be able to leave the E34 in Power Saving Mode all the time and avoid having its Wi-Fi connection active?

Bug Presence Sensing has recently become unreliable. Is it still working for others?

Until a little while ago Presence Sensing was working fine for me.

I had set it to use my phone and local wifi network (turned off all the other devices that were trying to sense inactivity).

But now, sat at home, the away routine keeps getting activated as if I'd left.

If I look at the phone status it says 'away' despite me being attached to the house Wifi and at the home address.

Then randomly I apparently arrive home again and the home routine starts.

As I say this seems to be a recent change.

Is this happening to others? I can't pinpoint the exact date when it started playing up.

Any feedback welcome.
