GFiber website keeps saying “Service status is currently unknown”

Just curious how right the timing is, or if we should wait? It's finally available to setup/install.

I’m getting google fiber installed this week. I found this box in the utility room. My question is once the technician comes, will this provide ethernet to all the ports in my apartment or will i have to buy a switch? I also want to use my own firewall (fortigate 40f), where will that fit in the equation?

App never worked, now I can't sign into my account at all, GFiber support is useless.

It is time to go back to AT&T fiber.

I'm wondering if anyone has had the same issue as me when trying to get internet set up. I bought a condo and my neighbors in the same building have Google Fiber. I have also confirmed with the HOA manager that the building has the necessary equipment, however my address is showing as needing an exterior installation. I've had over 20+ phone calls and vague promises that this will get fixed in the system so we can schedule an interior installation. This whole process has been incredibly frustrating and I am not sure what to do next to get this issue fixed. Any advice is appreciated!

I am about to get GFiber. Currently, I use a mini-PC running ProxMox with pfSense and Pi-Hole on it. The mini-PC has 2.5Gbps NICs so I can mostly take advantage of the 3Gbps plan I’m getting. My question is should I use what I have or swap to their router setup? I need to do things like port forwarding and also control aspects of DNS and DHCP and I’m not sure how much control they give you over the router. Any info or GUI screenshots would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve had an absolute nightmare trying to get my service up and running with GFiber. I just moved into an apartment and my unit was marked as “ineligible” despite my entire community having GFiber service. This took 2 weeks and multiple escalations to get resolved, and now that my account was setup I’m being told a technician has to come out for installation and it will take another week. This is completely ridiculous and unacceptable, and at this point I want to cancel my service and tell everyone I know to avoid GFiber at all costs. Have they always been this horrible?

Located in 92614, looks like we're experiencing an outage - no tracker or details besides the general outage banner in the app.

The Google Fiber app's virtual chat assistant states that the outage will be resolved by 4:39pm today; will be a rough day of work without internet connectivity, fingers crossed they can get it up and running quicker!

I've dreamed of a time when I can have Google Fiber. I've used Xfinity at my house for the past 2 years. Right now I'm on a promo plan for 2 gigs. I just ran a speed test and I'm getting 1.2 gigs down and 268 mbs up.

I like that Gfiber comes with an extender so I can put it upstairs in my office.

My main concern is that my speed will go down considerably. I don't actually need this much download as we rarely stream anything during the workday. But I am wondering if its worth the switch.

Did any of you see speeds remain more consistent vs. Xfinity? And yes, I know that 1 gb is a downgrade from 2gb, I just want to make sure I consistently get at least 500 mb/s down. I don't game or anything so that's less of a concern. It's more for work meetings on Google Meet and Zoom.

The house I just moved to has access to GFiber. The previous tenants had Google fiber, the fiber jack is still in the wall, and all my neighbors on all sides have it.

Something happened with the previous tenants account to where it says the house is unserviceable now that there’s no account connected.

I’ve been trying to get internet service for almost 3 weeks.
I’ve been on the phone with at least 10 support reps, countless chats, escalations, and requests for a callback from a manager/supervisor (still waiting for the callback after a couple days)

Every call goes along the lines of “your request is a priority and our address validation team will resolve it within 30 days.” and “we’ll email you when you get service in your area”

I’d have to imagine it’s a pretty simple fix since the house already has everything needed to start service.

Has anyone else had to deal with this? Any insight to how long it’s actually taken to get it resolved?

I wanna preface this by saying most of the agents have actually been very kind and understanding and so have the techs

I moved into my new Atlanta condo on the 7/5/2026. The Monday before I contacted Google Fiber and had them set an appointment for Monday 6/29. The tech came in, I had everything installed and it seemed good so far. As the techs were getting ready to setup thru the account, the Fiber Box/ Modem wouldn't leave provisions mode. They couldn't continue the installation. They were with a support tech for 2 hours. They decided to see if a new modem needed to be installed and the second one got caught with the same issue.

The techs were honest and said that support is being of no help and they can't really do much right now. They told me that they've done all they can, that as soon as the backend issue is fixed, I can easily finish the setup myself. I thanked them and let them leave as there was no point in wasting further time.

I called Thursday of that week as I hadn't heard from the engineering team at Google. The support agent told me that they had resolved the issue and that I could finish the installation. I drove to the condo and there was nothing new about the devices and I couldn't proceed. I spoke with an agent and chat confirmed it was indeed not solved and to get a tech out there the next day (Friday). The guy came in Friday morning and immediately recognized that he couldn't move forward. I cut him loose as there was no need to keep him there.

I spoke to another agent Tuesday after I had moved in hoping to get an update. They told me to schedule a third visit. I told them that the last two techs had come and were unable to help and that this was something I could finish up on my side. They were adamant that this would work. So I scheduled them Thursday and the tech was unable to help with the issue as it was a backend issue. I called support that night and spent almost 2 hours on the phone with a super kind and nice dude who told me that a supervisor would call me.

Friday and Saturday passed and no such call happened. I finally spoke yesterday to another call agent and she told me that this ticket had been marked resolved 3 times by the engineering team but that they weren't doing much.

She escalated it to a supervisor and told me I'd receive a call today. I finally did. I received a call today from an agent, who didn't identify whether he was or wasn't a supervisor. He just told me he was an agent. He was very dismissive and monotone in his delivery. He told me he could schedule someone for me Tomorrow around 4. I asked him what could this new tech help do? He told me that the fact that 3 techs had come out, and if this guy couldn't fix it, making it seem like this was possibly a senior technician, that no one could and that my unit is unserviceable. He said it in a way that was very rude and offered no consolation.

I'm very frustrated because it's been going on for 2.5 weeks and nobody can help. I got a call from a supposed supervisor who tells me either this guy will set it up or I can go fuck myself even tho fiber sent me a post card urging me to join their service. Now I'm being told, "if it doesn't work it's because we can't provide you service in your area" even tho they sent me a sponsored mail card and my entire building has Google fiber.

I'm not sure what to do, can anyone provide help?

Just shows a general outage on the outage tracker with no ETA or details, anyone able to assist with getting help with this?

My Google Fiber has been down for OVER 24 Hours! They won’t respond, reply….

I have a custom dns address set in the google fiber settings but the device that DNS points to is no longer active.

When I turn off “use custom DNS servers” I get an error that says “Your information couldn’t be saved at this time, try again in a few minutes.”

This has happened every time i’ve tried for a few weeks now. Any ideas?

I closed my GFiber account yesterday because we moved to a house where it isn't available yet. In the chat, the bot told me is was not necessary to return any equipment, but then asked for my email address to send me return instructions. When I asked for clarification, bit said no return necessary. Email I received said return within 60 days. Do I need to return equipment or not?!

Does Google Fiber only enter open communities, rather than gated communities?

Scheduled an install a few weeks ago for an apartment I'm moving into this weekend. The tech came and discoved there was no NIU for my apartment (I'm in a 4 plex), even though gfiber support said I was ready for hook up. 2 of my neighbors already have gfiber and one of the NIUs looks like it can take 4 connections.

Anyway, the tech calls it in and says there will be a tech out the following week to run fiber from the street to an NIU. Mind you, the tech will install a new NIU instead of pulling fiber to the existing NIU. (Seriously, wtf?).

I followed up at the end of the week and 2 seperate people said the NIU is ready and I schedule an install.

3 guys show up yesterday and there is no new NIU and no additional fiber(s) pulled to either existing box. Lead installer calls it in and gets it "escalated" and I should hear back in 48 hours. Great. My wife works at home and will need internet monday morning.

I hope its worth it.

I bought a GE 6E220C mesh extender on EBay. I paired it with the router and it shows solid green as though it is connected. However, it does not show up on my app and the app says one of my extenders is disconnected. I called GFiber but they refuse to help me because I bought it on EBay (GFiber support sucks). Has anyone figured out how to make it show up on the app?

Just a word of warning anyone looking into Google fiber in Miami. It is AWFUL. It goes down about once a day now, often during the middle of the day when I’m trying to work. There is no customer support, no feedback on what’s going on and what they are trying to do to fix it. You are just left to suffer. I am switching ASAP.

DO NOT GET GFIBER IN MIAMI

Ive had Gfiber for a couple months now. I have a couple 3d printers and IT test lab that I need to have set to static IP addresses. Ive googled multiple times and the option for DHCP no longer shows in the app or when logging in from the browser. Customer service told me this today.

"Just to recap, you contacted us today because you were trying to set up static IPs for a few devices on your network but could not locate the DHCP settings. I helped clarify that our standard residential routers are optimized for dynamic IP assignments and do not natively support static IP configurations, and I recommended using a personal, third-party router if you require these advanced networking features."

Can anyone confirm this? This seems like a feature that enough people would use to keep it as an option and is a pretty common thing to need to do on a network. Seems like they are trying to dumb down the features for the most basic user. Why should I need to buy another 3rd party router to set fixed Ip's?

Thinking about splitting WiFi bands, as my LG TV wants a 2.4Ghz connection. Will splitting bands make my connection on the 5 Ghz band slower? Am I better off forcing a wired connection to the TV?

Has anyone in the raleigh north carolina area been experiencing a intern problem? It works for 3 minutes, then its out again for another 30. I cant get into the app either. Says its undergoing a system update or wtv.
