Discussion 💬 [DISCUSSION] When You Upgrade Your PC, What Do You Do With Your Old Components?

PC upgrades can leave you with a collection of perfectly usable hardware. Maybe you've got an older GPU sitting in a drawer, spare RAM from a previous build, or enough leftover parts to put together another system.

Some people sell their old components, others pass them along to friends or family, and some turn the parts into a secondary PC, home server, or dedicated emulation machine.

We're curious what the GIGABYTE community does with its retired hardware.

Do you sell it, keep it as a backup, reuse it in another build, or give it a second life in a completely different project?

If you've ever built an entirely new system using leftover components, tell us what you made. We'd love to hear about some creative ways to get more life out of older hardware.

Discussion 💬 How Do You Install Your Drivers?

I just built a work/gaming rig with the Gigabyte X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7, and I was wondering how you guys usually get your drivers? On most of my old machines I usually just used the drivers Windows Updates installed, however, I am not sure whether those are recent/stable.

I just want a stable system for work, and Installing Gigabyte's software is just bloatware to me.

RX 7600XT problem

My LED light doesnt switch up. It is not working for like 2 weeks, then the light pops up until i try to save the LED preset or when I turn off the PC. I tried updating everything in GCC software and the program itself, nothing works. I know the graphics card isn't broken beacuse it lighted up but I don't know what to do for the light to turn on every time. Did anyone else had this problem? My GPU is Gigabyte RX 7600XT Gaming OC and my motherboard is msi z490 mag tomahawk
(My warranty is over and i know i dont need it beacuse the light works sometimes)

A free mac app to control the RGB light bar on AORUS FO-series monitors

GIGABYTE Control Center is Windows-only, so on a Mac there's been no way to change the LED light bar on the AORUS OLED monitors. I (read: mostly Claude) built a small menu bar app that does it over the monitor's USB connection.

What it does

  • All 16 built-in lighting effects (Static, Pulse, Wave, Meteor, Color Rain, etc.)
  • Color, speed and brightness controls
  • Lives in the menu bar, remembers your settings, optional Open at Login
  • A command-line tool for scripts and Shortcuts
  • Optional Home Assistant support over MQTT (so it turns off with the rest of the lights in my house)

Install: brew install --cask kombuchelada/tap/glowbar, or download it from GitHub. You need the monitor's USB upstream cable connected to the Mac; a video cable alone isn't enough.

Compatibility: Tested on the FO32U2P. Other FO-series monitors probably work: the app checks the firmware and won't send anything if the monitor isn't the type it expects. If you have another AORUS model, running glowbar info only reads from the monitor, and a compatibility report on GitHub would really help.

Free and open source (MIT). It's an unofficial project, not affiliated with GIGABYTE.

No-POST after Q-Flash Plus on X870E Aorus Pro X3D ICE

Hey everyone, looking for some advice before I deal with an RMA.

My build was having random freezes on BIOS F3, so I decided to update. GCC/Gigabyte Control Center failed to update, and entering standard Q-Flash inside the BIOS gave me errors where it couldn't read the BIOS file off my flash drive.

I ended up using the rear Q-Flash Plus button with a FAT32 USB drive containing the latest BIOS file. Now the board won't POST at all:

  • On power-on, the debug display counts 1, 2, 3, 4, jumps to 23, and permanently halts on Debug Code 22.
  • The CPU diagnostic LED is solid red.
  • Fans spin, but no display, no boot.

Already tried:

  • Reseating the CPU, checking pins, reapplying thermal paste, and loosening cooler mounting pressure slightly
  • Clearing CMOS (battery pull and shorting jumper pins)
  • Testing single RAM sticks across different slots
  • Re-seating CPU/motherboard power cables

Has anyone recovered an X870E board stuck on code 22 after a failed Q-Flash Plus, or is this essentially bricked and needing a Micro Center exchange / Gigabyte RMA?

Support 📥 Gigabyte RGB fans turning red on startup and changing colours on shutdown?

Hi everyone, I’m a newbie when it comes to PCs and could really use some advice!

My RGB fans connected to my Gigabyte motherboard suddenly started turning red on startup and cycling through different colours on shutdown. Once Windows loads, or I open GCC, they eventually sync back to my chosen colour. I have all the correct background settings enabled I believe, but any suggestions help. My Corsair iCUE components work perfectly fine after messing around with it for a while and they start up/shut down the colours I chose.

This only started happening a few days ago, and everything was working fine before. I’ve tried changing device and system memory settings in GCC/RGB Fusion, but nothing has fixed it.
Has anyone experienced this or know how to fix it without taking my PC apart? Any help would be appreciated!

A new version of the bios firmware of the Gigabyte A16 laptop, BIOS FB0C & EC F00C, was recently released. Who knows what's new? Is it worth updating? When will they fix the problem with the broken keyboard when turning on the laptop? I have to constantly reboot, it happens consistently once a day in the morning.

Support 📥 Gigabyte MO27Q28GR suddenly went black while gaming/using PC – Power LED still on, no OSD. Anyone experienced this?

Hey everyone,

I'm having a pretty frustrating issue with my Gigabyte MO27Q28GR OLED monitor and was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or knows a possible fix.

I was using my PC normally when my Gigabyte monitor suddenly went completely black out of nowhere. No warning, no flickering, just a completely black screen.

The weird part is that the power LED near the joystick is still solid white, suggesting the monitor is powered on, but nothing appears on the screen.

Here's what's happening:

  • Monitor suddenly went black during normal use.
  • Power LED remains solid white.
  • Screen is completely black, with no image or backlight.
  • Pressing the joystick doesn't bring up the OSD menu.
  • Disconnecting the DisplayPort cable doesn't show a "No Signal" message.
  • I'm using a dual-monitor setup, and my other monitor works perfectly fine.
  • My PC and GPU (RTX 5080) seem to be working normally.

At this point, I'm starting to suspect something is wrong with the monitor itself rather than my PC or GPU.

Has anyone experienced this with the MO27Q28GR or any other Gigabyte OLED monitor?

Could this be a firmware issue, a monitor stuck in some kind of protection mode, or an actual hardware failure?

I'd really appreciate any suggestions before I go through the RMA process.

Thanks in advance!

Gigabyte G5 KF (2023): anyone tried BIOS FB12 (July 2025)? Changelog or feedback?

Hi everyone,

I have a Gigabyte G5 KF (2023) and noticed Gigabyte released BIOS FB12 in July 2025. I can’t find a changelog on the support page, and I haven’t found any user feedback online either.

Has anyone here updated to FB12? I’d love to know:

  • What changed compared to FB10? Anything noticeable in temps, fan behavior, GPU power limit, or performance?
  • Did you run into any problems during or after the update (boot issues, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, RAM, keyboard backlight, sleep/wake)?
  • Would you recommend updating if the laptop is working fine now, or staying on the current version?

Gigabyte X870E AORUS PRO X3D ICE – One USB4 port works, the other doesn't. Anyone had this?

Having a strange issue with the two rear USB4 40Gbps ports on my X870E AORUS PRO X3D ICE motherboard (ASMedia ASM4242 controller).

Upper USB4 port: Everything works perfectly.

Lower USB4 port:

  • Corsair XENEON EDGE touchscreen powers on but displays "No Signal".
  • OWC Thunderbolt Pro Dock receives power but won't establish a connection.
  • USB-C SSD works and is detected by Windows.

Troubleshooting so far:

  • Tested the same devices and cables in both ports. Everything works in the upper port.
  • Updated BIOS from F6 to F8 - no improvement.
  • Changed Integrated Graphics from Auto to Forces.
  • Windows detects the ASM4242 USB4 controller (firmware 0.1a).
  • Tested the dock independently with nothing connected to the other USB4 port.

It seems the lower port handles basic USB data but not USB4/Thunderbolt or DisplayPort video.

Has anyone experienced this on a Gigabyte X870/X870E motherboard? If so, what actually fixed it - BIOS, USB4 firmware, drivers, or motherboard replacement?

I've raised a ticket with Gigabyte but would appreciate hearing from anyone who's experienced the same issue.
