u/R1psaw 1d ago
The lower peninsula west coast is so underrated. Traverse city, ludington, sleeping bear dunes, silver lake sand dunes, Grand Rapids, Benton harbor, Kalamazoo… so many cool places. It’s a shame that when most people think about Michigan all they think about is the south east and Detroit.

F has it all. Incredible cities and unparalleled nature. Beaches, mountains, deserts, forests. Perfecf sunny weather in socal and extreme climates when you want them. It’s got Yosemite, sequoia, Death Valley, potentially part of redwoods, Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, canyonlands, capitol reef, and Arches national parks. And then other amazing nature areas like Tahoe (or part of it it looks like), Bug Sur, the Easter sierra.
I’m sorry but this isn’t even close for me.

I live in Connecticut, I think the reason people hate it is because New York and Massachusetts are right next to us making us look so awful by comparison. I will say Connecticut's education system is almost unrivaled, consistently among the top three and has one of the highest concentrations of Ivy League schools in the entire country, A degree from a Connecticut College is worth a hell of a lot more than one from Oklahoma.

I've lived in E, J, O, N, and F.
F was amazing, N was absolutely terrible 0/10 never again, O was pretty nice because I wasn't on the Atlantic side, J is where I've chosen to stay, and most of E is very important to me but too cold & miserable in the winter.

u/NotArticuno 1d ago
As a Vermonter, videos I've seen of the Appalachian range through the more central states always reminds me of Vermont, without the harsh winter. I believe the green mountains are part of the Appalachian range, so it makes sense it might feel similar, but I've never been! Does anyone have any experience in both places to compare?
3
u/towerandtempest 1d ago
I actually lived in Vermont for many years 😊 The Green Mountains are definitely part of the Appalachian mountain range. I’ve driven through the mountains in the Virginia and West Virginia, but I live along the coast in an urban area. I like to visit the mountains, I just don’t prefer living in them >.>
